By clicking and buying anything on these links Amazon does give me a small commission, though I'm very grateful for any support you show :)
just wanted to add that I don't sell clothing like you beau, but I like the fact that you show reselling for what it really is. Its like any business, it has it ups and down. Your channel just resonates with me cause people need to know that ebay is in fact not easy.
I appreciate that! Thank you for the support!
These podcast style videos have been my favorite for awhile. Great to listen to while listing. Josh great voice for this
Thank you! More to come, and yes Josh has that radio voice!
Man Josh could make a career just talking about and looking for antiques I’d listen to it
Also on note of competition goodwill and Salvation Army gets stuff for free and only pays 2% fees on eBay, if they were good at clothing the would beat out all pricing
Hi, what beginners need to realize is that nothing comes easy. To quote The Three amigos what they watch is "trick photography." I don't think people are legitimately trying to trick people it's just editing out the boring stuff.
Good conversation. The topic is never worn out when it's discussed intelligently. The biggest problem with "The RUclips Lie" is that content creators tend to push the Big Number -- and by that, I mean Gross Sales. Even if they offer better transparency and context within the video itself, a thumbnail with a six-figure graphic is very misleading, whether intentional or not. I understand that even corporations push the Big Number, and that gross sales is a valid economic metric, but for the uninitiated, this number inflates expectations. That being said, I cant blame anybody for a standard practice, and the reality of reselling will eventually reveal itself to everybody, some sooner than others.
I asked tech where he thought all that great, cheap, quality merch he was buying at the flea markets came from. He said "the bins, probably." That doesn't seem logical to me.
Stolen?
My parents sold at flea markets for years as well as did regular yardsales. We have a large family and extended family including our church family & neighbors. Most of their "merch" came from family & friends. Becasue they were known for doing this, just about everyone we knew saved everything for them instead of donating it. They also purchased things from yardsales, other vendors, and thrift store to resell. To this day, I have loads of stuff in my garage. When I have a yard sale people often say where did you get all this stuff from & I just smile. But yes, plenty of vendors shop at the bins to resell at flea markets as well as buy bales. Not everything is stolen. Most vendors are hardworking everyday people just like resellers who sell online.
There is a very large group of people in my area that goto the goodwill bins on Wednesdays and sell the stuff at the flea on Saturday. There are several only shoe sellers at the flea market, and I guess they are doing alright asking ebay prices at the flea for shoes they get at the bins and regular goodwills...
The wife, and I went to Oakland/SF this last week for a baseball game. I told her I gotta hit up a couple thrifts. She didn't like it, but I broke away for a couple hrs. Had nooo clue where to go, and first stop was goodwill bins. There was maybe 8 people there. I walked up(this was outdoors) the very first bin a found an 80s prince purple rain tee, and 8-10 really high end mens ties in perfect condition.Charvet,Kiton,Brioni,zegna,Ford. Paid $6 for all that within 5 minutes. Off to the next place it was an old gas station that was converted into a goodwill. TINY! This is in the sketchy parts of town btw. I walked out with atleast 1k profit within an hr. Just those 2 stops, and I was back to spending time with the wife. So yea the port city areas are loaded ot seems. I live in Phoenix so it's already pretty good here. Im originally from Louisiana/Arkansas area. I couldn't imagine being anywhere near as successful as I have been if I was in a rural area.
Great Scores!
Location: if I were in the Southern states golf equipment would be my #1 but here in North Central Indiana clothing works better.
Great stuff guys!
Thanks for listening and the support!
I visit at least 20 thrift stores per week and typically find less than 50 quality items. I've quit buying those $20-$25 item unless they have great sell through. Most common items get caught in the promoting race to top and price race to bottom.
How many categories are you selling in?
Good stuff guys!
Thanks Carrie!
Josh just so you know there is a goodwill bins in Rochester..
I’ve picked up a couple ROGUE shirts at the bins and they always sell fast
Beau, when you mentioned doing Amazon fba will you still do it in the clothing category ?
Yes clothing and Shoes! About to get ungated in Adidas, Puma, Reebok and new balance. I will share the journey.
Thank you
