Should William Regal have won the World Title after his King Of The Ring victory? Let us know in the comments below!
Of course, he wasn’t the most charismatic of wrestlers but he could do the serious villain or the goofy character while being technically sound, safe in the ring all while making his opponents look great to.
No cause he stole
@@paulrhyslloyd1 That's not the question
I meant of course he should have had a run with the World Championship.
@@paulrhyslloyd1 Hell no! He used to win with brass knuckles like the intercontinental title and to Santino Marella 😂
William Regal is one of my favorite wrestlers ever. When Regal got in that ring, you knew you were going to be in a fight. Dude was legit. A stiff, tenacious, crisp, bloody, technician who always made everyone look better. I legitimately love wrestling because of guys like Regal, Benoit, Dean Malenko, Eddie Guerrero, Jericho. Regal is a legend in my book. What a national treasure he is.
He really is a credit to his nation, makes me think that British "the wrestling" must be very special.
@chrisstorrer I believe he inspired guys like Pete Dunne and Zack Sabre Jr. Similar styles and fun to watch.
Couldnt agree more! Love Regal! This man is a legend to me!
Not to mention that Regal is really funny when he wants to be too.
@Greg400 yes, he's hilarious. I can't understand what he's saying sometimes, but when I do, it's funny.
When listening to a lot of these interviews I really appreciate the introspective details that William Regal brought. The cameraman information is something I’ve never really heard before and I get it gave me a great respect for their own job duties.
As a British kid who grew up in the attitude era I was never a big fan of Regal. I'm not sure if it was the gimmick that just seemed a bit cheesy for a British kid, or his wrestling style that was more technical than showy. Now I think he's absolutely brilliant, so much respect for this guy and his knowledge of the industry. You can tell he just lives and breathes wrestling.
cause he was a heel.
He was popular in the Uk despite being a heel. Was at live show in London 2002 and he got bigger cheers than anyone.
They tried to give him heat with a VT saying “these people cheer for me coz they’re stupid and I’m the best thing in their miserable little lives”
We just cheered harder, yeahhh he’s the best thing in our miserable little lives.
@@rudyard2121Nice! I was there the year before, the Insurrection with Undertaker Vs Stone Cold and HHH.
That was such a great show, Regal fought Jericho, who was one of my favourites at the time. So that's probably why I wanted Regal to lose as well.
Regal was the guy who could work but was no threat to popular guys. He was the perfect talent to work with Rock, Austin, HHH, Angle....when you were trying to keep those guys apart until the next PPV.
great point
Great point. He was a guy who was intended to be a legitimate challenge to a Rock or Austin in between major feuds without ever believing he could win.
The Passion that Regal has for wrestling is shown here. I'm like this when I'm training people where I work. Going into detail.
Easily one of the most respectful people ever in wrestling. Comes across so likeable talking about wrestlers and his background too. Never got the respect he deserved when he was wrestling but so happy to see how much he is loved looking back at his career.
I never thought of the camera information he was giving. Very true and respect to all camera men.
Him talking about wanting to give people a fair go,
That's a bloody man right there.
I hated William regal when I was younger but as I’ve got older I could listen to him for hours 😂😂😂
Same! I think he's someone who really grew on me when my tastes matured. Yes the People's Elbow was electrifying, but these days I'm much more impressed by these technical wizards like Regal who know the craft and the business inside out.
As an interviewer, someone giving such in-depth answers is a dream. Maybe you don't get to all your questions but you get great answers and don't have to worry about padding. Regal is so fun to listen to.
He's absolutely one of the smartest humans in wrestling EVER. His perception of taking wrestling into this view is polar opposite of most wrestlers. Just speechless. Regal is a absolute wrestling treasure.
A true gentleman and legend of the game.
Any fan should watch the old footage of Regal as a Heel and a Face. An immense talent and hard worker in and out of the ring.
100% legend!
Love william regal he was all time favorite as a kid and i always felt like he deserved more even at that time but this just flat out confirmed my instinct of how good he was at what he did
I genuinely LOVE you William Regal! You are a legend to me and you deserve so much more than you ever got! You are greatness!
I worked as a pro referee for 14 years (and even refereed a couple of Regal's matches in 2004 or 2005 when he worked a couple of shows in the UK) and hearing Regal talk about working to the hard camera is a lesson I learned the hard way. As a TV referee (or if a show is being recorded for TV or DVD etc) you always have to work from the back 2 corners so that you don't walk in front of the hard camera and if a wrestler has the guy their working with in a rest hold facing the hard camera, as a referee you want to be on a angle so that your not hiding the wrestler in the hold and their selling and facial expressions.
He's a maaaannnnnn, such a man, such a maannnn!
William Regal is a real @$$ man. Ive always respected him, now i respect twice as more. Thanksgiving is a terrible holiday.
As a guy who’s agonized over money the majority of my life, Regal’s opening bit is inspiring. Making life easier for others is really cool 🤙🏻
William Regal is one of my favourite ever wrestlers with his vicious negative shades at time and he is one of the all time greats in the sport, good friends!!!LONG LIVE,WILLIAM REGAL SIR!!!🏋♂️
I did some ringside camerawork a long time ago. It was great fun but very hard work. And I was only using a little camcorder. Can only imagine how the WWE guys manage it. Also, Regal is great. Pure fountain of knowledge.😊
From Codsall down the road too, love you William
I'm not having a good day. William Regal is exactly what I need to make it a good day at least for the 17m21s of this video
Regal is one of my favorites. Him and DDP and Fit Finlay and Scott Hall.
ill be honest im a wrestling fan and have been my entire life and ill be that till the day i die. i knew wrestlers had it hard. I knew the people putting the rings up had a hard job and even the refs also put rings together. some not all i know. but i never ho nestly ever till right now thought about the camera men and holding the cameras and how their necks and backs are done after working like that.
Regal dropping pearls, it's mind-blowing.
Guy is such an effing legend.
Subject of study. Thank you, Regal!
Did I say Jericho is a treasure?
Regal: Hold my mic!
💜
2003 is the best year and I commented it to WWE on November 13
To sit under the learning tree of William Regal must be awesome and intense, but nonetheless an honor.
Love Regal.
While never a main eventer but he's a great wrestler & had a really great underhand career
Sure he was in wrestlemania 18 I remember well. That's a good enough achievement and he's getting more respect as years go by
He is forever Lord Steven Regal in my mind. I love Regal, was always a fan. I thought his style was legit. He was an excellent heel too.
Regal is like the Marco Pierre White of wrestling
That’s a great comparison 🤣👌🏼
Is there a way to watch the full thing ?
I remember watching WCW back in the day with my mom she used to call him lady thighs I guess he had them so ever since then that's his nickname
So many people got bullied in WWE too
Love the fued he had with Jericho
2:51 FINALLY SOMEONE SAID IT
He's a maaaaaan
Blackpool ❤ William regal. Top man.
Damn I never thought about the hell that the cameramen go through. Those cameras are set up so they can't switch shoulders as well. Hope Vince and co give them good medical insurance plans.
Regal is the real People's Champion!!!!!!!
This man is good, can you imagine what he and Jim Cornette could do for AEW if they listened to them.
Everything Regal is saying here is very true.
Remember he was Bob The Builder
Is anyone else commenting on his accent? He’s using his real northern English accent
Sounds Lancastrian?
I don't even have to watch. Thumbnail gave it away. Be bald, wear sunglasses and have a vest.
I always hated regal coming up but as I got older I just realized he was that damn good which is exactly why I hated him lol
6:17 - WWWCW
Omg wheres the rest?
-Californian who doesn’t need subtitles
Check the video description. (i think the subtitles were for when he was off-mic, but it is absurd that some americans can't understand english when they here it!)
He’s high as shit
drunk
Definitely some form of intoxification or medication
You can actually hear his real accent. When he's on TV. He tweaks it a bit to make it seem a little bit more high class, but you can hear he's got a little cockney in his accent
Cockney? He's got a midlands accent, because he's from the midlands
@@gareths2449 yes that one... thats the one... sorry all i know are the two dialects... but i know he uses a fake one when he is on tv
0:11. Is Regal drunk 🥴?
Hows it disgraceful for America to celebrate a day with family when the UK has literal icons from other countries locked away in museums for their public to pay money to prod and look at. The orignal colonizers trying to say anything about the subject is truly irony at its finest. And quite bluntly stupid. Love Regals work but he came off asinine and uneducated with that comment. To put it bluntly if they weren't conquered as is natural in history then the holiday wouldn't exist. Now have fun celebrating a day dedicated to guy who literally committed terrorism in your country 😂.
ye, no monty fans overe here move along!
Regal seems like a great guy and a good wrestler but nobody cared about him in WWE.
Whys does that mammas boy sound like a talkbox?
Don’t trash our holidays…yes its origins might be marked in the blood of native Americans…..but it’s also about eating to excess and being with family….watch a Publix commercial a hole
CTE Hits him hard. I can't follow any story he is telling, there is no structure, he is just all over the place.
Maybe it’s you? I had no problem following him.
@@Guitarplayer724 I hear what the OP is saying. Whilst Regal was coherent, he wasn't really following any particular point/question other than association in his mind, which led to a rather discursive discussion. Not that it made the video any more or less enjoyable, though.
big mistake letting him back
Lol he only went back because his son is there
Why?
I’ll bet it’s about having no gag reflex.
