That's an actual morning show with the actual presenters. Lots of stuff goes wrong as it's live. Theres some compilations that are hilarious if you wanna check them out
Did you notice the super cute nod to trans pride in 2x01? Ted's nail polish (when he holds his hand up to show Beard and Nate) are the colors of the trans flag! 🏳⚧
One more thing I want to point out, when Roy tells Rebecca: “You deserve someone who makes you feel like you've been struck by lightning. Don't you dare settle for fine.” He describing his relationship with Keeley and how it makes him feel.
I can’t recall at the moment, and y’all made a few observations that I loved, but I just wanted to say that I loved Sam pointing out that Jamie used Keely’s comedic cadence to break the ice with Ted at the pub. Very cool. In another show, I’d simply put that down to the writer’s voice bleeding into characters when it shouldn’t. Well done all!
I never consciously noticed that until Sam pointed out, but it's so true! I wonder if that was a choice by the writers or if Phil Dunster came up with it. It's a perfect character choice either way.
Hello it's me your friendly neighborhood rambler, back for season 2 😄 This might be the first time I've disagreed with you guys about some stuff! I don't think Jamie's outfit has anything to do with Roy. I think it's a reflection of his emotional state. Jamie is normally very vibrant and ostentatious with his clothing choices, but here there's not a speck of color on him except his necklace. Incidentally, he is at the lowest he's ever been in the series; even though he tanked his career on purpose, soccer's all he's ever known and he has nowhere to go, so he's completely lost. This has happened before, too. If you look at the kitchen scene in 1x10, apart from a couple stripes of color on his shoes Jamie's all in black there, too. It's a super stark contrast to the warmth of Keeley's house, and that's because he was at his then-lowest point. He'd been sent back to Man City, right into his dad's grip, which we know was so awful Jamie had to abandon football to get away from. Speaking of Jamie's clothes, this season he reuses A LOT of them. I did a spreadsheet of it actually because I'd noticed it along the way and wanted to see if that was really the case, and yep. He only about 10 different clothing items and simply puts them in different combinations. For instance, that suit jacket and sweatshirt he wears in the second episode, he rewears later on in the season, and those jeans he rewears constantly, whereas in season 1 the only rewearing is a jacket and pair of jeans once each. Which I think has to do with his new mindset. He's a stripped-down Jamie at this point, he basically has to start over, and his goal is to fit back in with the team, so he's much more subdued in his outfits. Since the Jamie we see now the real Jamie, not a veneer, I think his clothes are also a callback to how he grew up. Since he came from nothing, he probably didn't have many clothes back then, so while the ones he wears now are expensive, they're few in number. Another detail of note that shows up again here is that Jamie drinks as little as he can get away with. In this episode he refuses to drink entirely until Ted dashes the last of his hopes, at which point even then he only takes a sip. If you go back to last season, the same holds true there. He refuses a drink from Keeley when he visits her, he only sips the mezcal and clearly isn't used to it in the curse episode, Keeley has to tell him to drink some of the beer in that promo shoot, he has a drink that's more sugar than alcohol in the gala episode and barely touches it, Roy makes fun of him for having "childish" flavored vodka (that we don't see him drink) in episode 2, and so on. Given what we've seen of his dad ... yeah. The second thing I disagree with is the look Rebecca gives Keeley. While I do find that look bizarre - to me it seems like Rebecca is checking to see whether Keeley is uniquely affected by Jamie's return or something, but why would she think that? Keeley and Jamie broke up forever ago - I don't think it's conspiratorial. Rebecca looked as shocked to see Jamie down on the field as everyone else. Keeley probably told her about Jamie seeking her out ("Whenever I think of talking, I think of you" - so sweet!), but to me it doesn't look like Rebecca had any idea he was coming back, let alone orchestrated it. The expression on Sam's face seems to imply Ted didn't tell anyone on the team either. Just my take on it. Your interpretations are valid!
Thank you for the response! I 100% agree that Jamie's wardrobe (particularly the dark suit) reflect his mentality and state in this season, and it's remarkable the work you put into tracking it! It simply just occurred to me in the moment that it was a very "Roy" outfit, so that might (or might not) have been an extra layer. You never know! Great observations about his drinking--I had never noticed that! And for sure! I think that's a very strong interpretation of Rebecca's glance, and that's the fun of this show. There are so many ways to look at it, and we absolutely love hearing different perspectives! Thank you for sharing! ❤️Jacqui
● Sam is an unfortunate clairvoyant here - "We DON'T say the Y-word" and " 'wintery'- snowy - frigid." may be a bit too on point. ● Jacqui's knowing 'camera glances' may be the best video moments on YT! ● The analysis and discussion into the depths of this near perfectly written show is - nearly perfect! - and - ● Sam... we're sorry... your desire to find flaws in TL will prove... difficult to satisfy... in fact, I predict your shins are going to become shriveled and cold in that shallow water!
Might be a good time to point out that the entire writing team are all Brené Brown fans (as is she of them - they've appeared on each other's podcasts after all 😉) So the emotional intelligence injection into a setting where you'd least expect to see it (soccer locker room and c suite) is a key part of the magic of this show.
Yes!!! We're so proud!!! Hannah Waddingham's season 1 Emmy acceptance speech is still one of the cutest things I've ever seen! (In the Hall of Fame with Olivia Colman's Oscar acceptance speech). ❤️ Jacqui
Oh Ted Lasso does romance story lines so well!! Roy and Keeley is the obvious example of that where their romance is used to advance both of their characters' growths and not just as a "just because". Same with Rebecca's arc. She has expressed multiple times that she doesn't want to be alone and that that's her biggest fear, and that is what Rupert used to threaten her into staying, even though she was actually completely alone when she was with him. And now, with Keeley, Ted, Higgins, and even Roy, she knows she won't be alone even if she's single, and any relationship that she gets in from now on won't be about her fear of being alone, it will be because she wants to. This is what I love about her arc: it's her finally choosing what she wants for herself, after years of having no agency, with the safety net of her new found support system. As always, love love love your reactions!!! Also, Jacqui's looks at the camera whenever Sam talks about Nate are top tier ;)
I believe what drives Ted's jealousy of Dr Sharon is that as a coach, he's a "man manager". He's not a tactical genius (like Nate) - his value as a coach is his ability to inspire and make the players better humans. But if Dr Sharon is fixing his players then that means he ISN'T doing what he's supposed to be good at.
So glad to see you doing season 2 so soon. I know the odds are low that you have not seen it. But on the off chance you should react to Our Flag Means Death
Jacqui, you absolutely crack me up with those knowing glances to the camera. It's like Phoebe Waller-Bridge breaking the 4th wall over and over again in Fleabag. IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN FLEABAG, YOU TWO WILL LOVE IT!!!
Dani's (Christiano) shot from the corner into the goal during training is actually another 'Easter Egg' for soccer fans. I've always thought that you don't have to be a soccer fan to enjoy the show, but to those of us that *are*..they give us plenty of them. Striking a ball into the goal from a corner kick is called an "Olympico". It's insanely difficult for a player to do. The term was created by Spanish language media in the 1920s. Somebody did it in the 1924 Olympics. Before the World Cup was created, the Olympics were the World Championship of Soccer. And that scene where Roy (Goldstine) tells Rebecca (Waddingham) that she 'deserves better than fine' is one of my favorites of the whole series. And not just for proving you don't have to know anything about soccer to enjoy it. Keep 'em coming, y'all..and Jacki, I love the zooms when you're "winking" at us just because Sam hadn't seen it yet. Keep 'em coming! It's wonderful.
As the friend of a therapist, what I do know is that it is a MASSIVE NO NO to bring another person into a counseling relationship because there is natural bias
When teams get relegated from the Premier League into the championship they get a parachute payment to help them cope with the financial downfall they have.
Re love stories: Jason Sudeikis has described this show as “What if Nora Ephron wrote a sports shows.” He is known to love rom-coms. So this is a rom-com at its core. I also think that Rebecca ending up alone at the end of the show would do a disservice to her character arc because Rupert told her that if she left him she would be alone and I don’t think anyone wants Rupert to be right.
Jamie's in all black because his career just got buried. It's a funeral. His light has gone out, and symbolically, the black shows that. The thing is, even though it's a death, death can also lead to rebirth. And as a person who lives in Santa Monica, I will fight you. You guys are just stereotyping the beach section of Santa Monica. The rest of us are living in the rent-controlled areas. ;)
I love how Roy's cursing tab is 1,236 pounds which Keely says is "Impressive." Then later, Dr. Sharon asks the guys what their record is batting around the paper ball and Nate reports 1,236 to which Dr. Sharon says, "Impressive."
Regarding the "do dogs go to heaven ?" comment, what Dani is doing isn't praying for the dog. What he is mumbling in Spanish in the shower is the "Hail Mary" prayer over and over, which is a very typical penitence for Catholics after confessing to a sin to a priest. The priest would usually say something along the lines of "Pray 5 hail mary's and 2 Lord's Prayer as penitence for your sins" or whatever other number of times. Even though it wasn't his fault, Dani not only thinks he did something wrong but thinks he committed some great sin, hence the nonstop praying in the shower.
Not sure if it was pointed out but the the therapist Dr.fieldstone is the same name as the doctor in sleepless in Seattle on the radio. Dr. Marsha fieldstone.
Pope Francis (the current pope, in 2014 I believe, was comforting a boy that lost his dog and said: "One day, we will see our animals again in the eternity of Christ. Paradise is open to all of God's creatures." which is contradictory to Catholic dogma up to that point. So yes, Earl gets to go to heaven as sanctioned by the Pope. YAY !!!!
You guys are great to watch, your review of this show is the best I’ve seen, you pick up on the subtle things I do but no other reaction on RUclips does. Keep it up :) Also every time Jacqui has a sly expression to the camera has me in stitches!
My problem with the psychiatrist - I forget her name - is that "I'm twice as good at my job as you are at yours" is not confidence, it's arrogance. It's really remarkably arrogant to think you're twice as good at your job as somebody is at theirs, particularly when you don't have any idea whether or not he's good at his job. Maybe that's supposed to be her being insecure? She's loud about how good she is at her job, which confident people typically aren't? Confidence is quiet and solid, whereas arrogance is loud and empty? But I don't know, that's not how I read it having seen more of the season.
Disagree about arrogance, albeit certainly very in your face. She's a black woman in the white male world* of football coaching in the UK, she literally has had to overcome twice as many obstacles as them. *That's not me just waving a flag, it's a current debate in British football.
Lindsay Lohan is indeed known as a difficult guest; here's one of the more infamous examples of her going off script on the Letterman show: ruclips.net/video/MWj7416EAxA/видео.html
I can’t speak for Catholics, but Christians are generally divided on the “do dogs go to heaven” question, though most lean towards yes because they’re our pets and we love them. In any case it’s one of those things you don’t talk about at the dinner table with sex and politics.
I was taking a big sip of water when you guys were sayin drink some water. I almost spit it out like Ted does with sparkling water. Higgins said he's goin to watch Empire Strikes Back with his sons, is interesting because Jason Sudeikis said this season was like that movie.
The flavour in earl grey is actually "bergamot", not lavender, which is a type of citrus. Coincidentially it is the same flavour that Froot Loops is based on.
Thank you for the continued fantastic and insightful reaction videos. As much as I love this show this episode had the only moment in the series that I found jarring to the paradigm that they have established about how Ted interacts with others, particularly his players. I don’t know exactly know how they would have done it and still finished with the powerful ending but I felt like there needed to be a moment in which Ted tells Sam he changed his mind and why.
Watching this AFTER the show has ended and the exchange at @13:30 about "would they really have his wife date their therapist on Ted Lasso???" is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Im hella late to the party but uhhh regarding the dogs and haven question: Technically the Bibles states that only humans have souls and animals strictly don't. But I am assuming Dani is catholic and the Pope has once told a little boy that pets go indeed to haven. And since the word of the Pope is the word of god to Catholics, than yes dogs and other pets go to haven.
I'm currently laid up with covid and feeling fairly rough, so this was such a great distraction. I really enjoyed the discussions around Jamie and Dr Sharon, I think both of those characters have such a great arc this season, so I'm looking forward to watching you experience those!
Aw! We hope you start feeling better soon, and we're glad we could give you a positive distraction. We're looking forward to sharing the rest of this season with you! ❤️ Jacqui
One thing that hit me that I haven't seen anyone else notice. Ted's coaching is "feel this moment then be a goldfish and move on". Roy's coaching is "BURN THIS LOSS INTO YOUR MEMORIES!".
The talk show that Jamie was on is a real one in the uk, you should see some of the clips of This Morning with Gino D’Acampo and Phil and Holly as they get very giggly and full of innuendo. Loving the channel by the way.
I hope by now you have watched some of the RUclips videos of the talkshow in the beginning of ep. 2 and realized that this show is dripping with innuendos… especially with Holly and Phil 😉
Still pretty kids.. fun though after Roy went to town" for dinner... Miss pretty says :know the terrain before entering.. connecting, making an effort".. different concept, but made me giggle..
Romantic relationships in tv shows are also often just a numbers game. Let’s say Keeley and Roy both had “external” partners, if we wanted glimpses into their personal lives then that’s two extra characters needed to be introduced, given some screen time etc. By putting them together they can cut that time in half and still show both. On another note, did you guys watch the new Thor or planning to watch it later? Just before I spoil something accidentally.
the talk show hosts are actually legit, they have a show called "this morning" also on a similar note, in the scenese where the pundits are talking about the games (including the old coach, who continues to be the asshole in the situation) the guy on the left is an actual football pundit in real life and has been doing it for years! I dont even watch football and yet i recognised him and his voice
Fun to watch these reactions, and I do hope you do the Star Wars films after wards. And yes, I agree with the 4,5,1,2,3,6 order. (The "Obi-Wan Kenobi" series and "Rogue One" after Episode 3 are optional, but both are very good.
I had to drop by to leave a note after hearing how angry Roy's eyebrows are 😄. I don't know if you're aware how big Brent Goldstein is getting but after watching the last Thor movie with my kids, during the post credits they introduced the next Thor villain. Yep, its our own Roy as Hercules. My jaw hit the floor. So excited for him. From Ted Lasso to the Marvel Cinematic Universe! OK, back to watching you 2. I appreciate you!
@@CoachThom16 I’ve loved Ted Lasso and surprised how much I’ve loved other characters as much as Ted. It’s a great cast. I’m an MCU fan so I’m glad Brett is joining.
Please keep the camera on Sam's reaction. Jacqui, you've obviously seen these too many times to genuinely react. Edited to correct the spelling of Jacqui's (?) name. Ugh.
We appreciate that you enjoy Sam’s reaction, but the format of our channel is both reaction and commentary, and that’s not going to change. Thank you for your feedback though, and hope you continue to enjoy these videos. ❤️Jacqui

Spot on.
24:30 Sounds like Jacqui agrees
That's literally why the camera cuts to Keeley when he says it.
I love that Rebecca eats the biscuit that Dr. Sharon took a bite out of.
With season three perspective, the "Did she sleep with her therapist?" "On Ted Lasso??" exchange seems very unfortunate. :(
Jacqui’s sad look (you know which one) is everyone’s reaction when rewatching season 2.

Disagree about arrogance, albeit certainly very in your face. She's a black woman in the white male world* of football coaching in the UK, she literally has had to overcome twice as many obstacles as them.
*That's not me just waving a flag, it's a current debate in British football.
She dials it back. As a black woman she probably needs to be more assertive initially. Actually most women would do this.
Lindsay Lohan is indeed known as a difficult guest; here's one of the more infamous examples of her going off script on the Letterman show:

I can’t speak for Catholics, but Christians are generally divided on the “do dogs go to heaven” question, though most lean towards yes because they’re our pets and we love them. In any case it’s one of those things you don’t talk about at the dinner table with sex and politics.
Catholic doctrine was no until 2014, but Francis publicly told a kid all creatures can go to heaven and it's debatably a formal doctrine change
So I'm watching this currently, and the whole sleeping with their therapist thing just took a big turn
I was taking a big sip of water when you guys were sayin drink some water. I almost spit it out like Ted does with sparkling water.
Higgins said he's goin to watch Empire Strikes Back with his sons, is interesting because Jason Sudeikis said this season was like that movie.
How have I never picked up on Earl Greyhound 😂😂😂
If you like Roy Kent you're gonna love Harry Hardbody upcoming in the MCU. And that's all I'm gonna say about that.
Fine, you two are growing on me. Subscribed.
Wintery is the perfect way to describe sharon!
Watching this AFTER the show has ended and the exchange at @13:30 about "would they really have his wife date their therapist on Ted Lasso???" is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Makes me laugh every time Higgins knocks over his pen cup.
You know you don't HAVE to wait a week for the next episode....
Has anyone pointed out that the actress who plays "Rebecca" was also the "Shame" woman in Game of Throens?
Just so you know I don’t know about Catholics but for Protestant all animals do go to heaven because they do not sin
Love the new mugs.
29:11 cant really do much unconsciously 😂😂😂
You guys should watch Barry if you haven’t seen it. Another masterpiece.
Jamie is going to get a ''cold shoulder'' from his former teamates.
😂 Game respects game. That was a fantastic pun! ❤️Jacqui
S2 bout to be crazy
Have they realised the shame person is Rebecca
Santa Monica = Rob Lowe's character from Parks and Rec (and maybe Rob Lowe himself lol)
I could’ve sworn that you guys said something about dacryphilia in a reaction and I think it’s quite funny that it was kinda in the show.
I watched the whole 2 seasons in a few days it is my favourite show. I love watching your reactions. I’d love you to do Only Murders In The Building.
*edit actually both the guys on the left are real pundits!
How did you both know that I only had five mins left on my 14 hour fast?
I love you guys! That's it.
Another great reaction. Sarcasm, smart and sweet. I know I'm short this time but with no less love.💗💜💙
We’re glad you’re still with us 😊 thank you for the love! ❤️Jacqui
Yeeeeeeeeees! Season 2 begins...
Really ? I’m seeing it on Monday
@@fayesouthall6604 stick around for the post credits scene. It's well worth it
@@CoachThom16 thanks
@@fayesouthall6604 no problem, let me know what you think!
❤️Jacqui
@@theshamelist Exactly you put context onto Sam’s reaction ! Love this !
Nice! Followed you guys on Twitter
I've been THAT boyfriend 😊
