Amazing analysis friend. As an intensely passionate 40 year Kate fan, to me the greatest overall artist of all time, I can't tell you how amazing it is to watch younger generations discover her genius. For a lot of us, loving Kate is kind of a lonely experience because she certainly doesn't land for everyone, but when she hits your soul she HITS! Thanks for this great video!
OMG! Love this comment soooo much, so glad this video reached you, I’ll always appreciate great music from whatever era it may be from, and wowwww this album just completely won my heart. Thank you for watching and so happy you enjoyed!! 🙏🙏🙏🙌🙌🙌💝
I was the only one of my friends who really ‘got’ Kate back in 1978 but I liked the fact she wasn’t for everyone. I’ve been a huge fan since then but I’m glad she was never a Madonna or any other massive, for the masses ‘pop’ star.
I totally understand your two months of listening and comprehending this one album. I have been a fan of Kate Bush since her debut in 77(?) and after all these years (yeah, i'm 60) I still discover new things and have even now Aha! moments, in all of her albums. She still makes me very very happy. There is only 1 Kate Bush, and that says it all.
I consider this 1 of the 2 best albums of the 80's. The other one is Nunsexmonkrock by Kate's evil sister, Nina Hagen. If you make a video about it, DON'T YOU DARE NOT RECORD YOUR FULL REACTION ON THE 1ST LISTEN! Just look at the algum cover if you need any further incentive.
@@FerdaTunes i listen to a lot of weird music but nunsexmonkrock is the hardest I've found anything to get into But i still couldn't stop myself It's def an experience
Even though Hounds of Love is a masterpiece, my favorite Kate album is The Dreaming. Hope you react to that one as it's more experimental and quite spooky in parts. It always brings me joy to see people from my generation connecting with and appreciating Kate's music. She's such a one-off and truly singular talent.
Hounds of love is a great album and great albums take many listens to appreciate. Well done!! May I suggest you check out The Queen is dead by the smiths. My all time favorite album.
I LOVEE that album god, definitely one of my all time fav indie rock albums, my go to album to toss on while riding my bike in the summer 😍🙏🙌 Much love!
One thing that i noticed is that first side of the album is like someone's life flashing b4 them in reverse Like running up that hill is like is your mid life like in a complicated relationship Hounds of love is the young adult phase being afraid of relationships and stuff The big sky is the teen angst kinda? Anthem about dreams and hopes Then mother stands for comfort is the early teen depression days i think I'm not sure After that cloudbusting is the childhood memories with your father It makes sense considering the context of the ninth wave Imagine if this album was a movie and you start with this beautiful cheerful montage of a person's life backwards Then bam plot twist it was all just memories and our protag is in the middle of the ocean That would be so cool 😭😭
I was going to write a comment, but I love that you have travelled along the same road that I have. Thank you for verbalising thoughts and feelings that are conjured up from this album, which is a feat in itself. Kate Bush has the ability to take us into these different worlds which is akin to the best poets, painters, writers, film makers. To take us to parts of ourselves that we haven't yet discovered or have forgotten about and reminding us about the beauty of life and the natural world and the magic that exists within us and around us It is wonderful and reaffirming to watch and listen to you my friend 🌟
Absolutely amazing 10/10 comment omg… thank you so much! This means so much to me and I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to hear all of this 😩🙏🙌 Much love
Thank you for a great reaction. A favourite Kate Bush song there are far too many excellent tracks to single one out. However my favourite Kate Bush album on the basis that I play it the most, would be "The Dreaming".if you want to see how Kate started with "The Kick Inside" and ended up with "Hounds of Love" then I suggest that listen to the albums between the two in release order which is Lionheart,"Never for Ever" and "The Dreaming". Immediately after "Hounds of Love" there's "The Whole Story" which is a compilation album, although it does feature a new track called "Experiment IV" a nd a new performance of "Wuthering Heights", the remaining albums are (in release order) are: "The Sensual World", "The Red Shoes", Aerial, "Director's Cut" [a remixing/restructuring of original songs, although some are re-recorded entirely], "50 Words for Snow", The final album isn't a studio album instead it's a recording of Kate's live performance at her sold out 22 date residency called "Before The Dawn" at the Hammersmith Apollo in 2014.
WOW ok thank you for all this!! I can’t waittt to hear The Dreaming, think i’m gonna check it out tomorrow! So amazing she’s such an insanely talented and creative artist, much love 🙏🙌
Your next Kate album should be Never For Ever or even The Sensual World. Aerial is also gorgeous. The Dreaming is a fan favorite but it's even more experimental than Hounds of Love side B, so you should leave it for later.
Thank you for such a lovely reaction, I really appreciate you taking your time with the album trying to understand it before you reviewed it because the first listen is always a bit confusing haha! I have a feeling we will see a lot of HOL reaction videos in the future because of a certain TV series...but this has easily been one of my favorite ones I've seen. I'm excited for you to do more Kate!
Thank you so much!!! Means a ton, and hahaaaa yes, I was somehow a bit ahead of the curve 😏🙏 and you’re so right, I had to sit with this album for months legit 😍 so immense
For me, since first hearing it in 1985, the Hounds of Love album has had a primordial feel to it; like it was made at the dawn of time, at the dawn of consciousness, for all time. Kate Bush is a genius.
Don't know if this is still a thing but us KB fans, I met her once, lovely woman, on Kate's B'day, July 30th at, I forget which time, Kate fans around the world play 'The Morning Fog'.
The first time I heard Waking the Witch my immediate thought was This is Catholicism condensed into one song. Kate was brought up a Catholic, as was I (long time lapsed) and this is it in a nutshell. Amazing album by the amazing Kate.
Wowwwww never thought about it this way 😳 I was also raised Catholic, I see what u mean already but i’m def gonna have to go back to it with this perspective. Thank u for sharing 🙏🙌
Some 30 years ago I revisited this album with headphones. Blew me away. Its her pop(ular) album. The previous four albums are possibly more ”Kate”. Anything after Hounds is a different, more distant direction to me (even though there are gems there). This woman is enchanting in the truest sense of the word.
Happy to see younger generation getting into the most amazing album ever produced but also the most genuine artist ever. Kate is unique and she invites you to a journey that will change your vision of music. Enjoy !
I really enjoyed this video, thanks!! Your reaction is basically the same with mine when I first listened to this masterpiece. This album led me to a rabbit hole of Kate's music and after a few months of obsession and some vintage vinyl splurging, i would heavily recommend listening to The Dreaming. It's such a transcendent album. And it has a lot of very interesting drum parts - I'm sure you'll enjoy them since you love the drum part in hounds of love!
The B-side is one story; woman overboard at sea - 'little light' on her life jacket - struggling to stay awake, going under with hypothermia, going out of her body, one with the universe, rescued in the morning.
I have spent a lot of money in my past on vinyl, but this was an exception, I worked in a bar, and someone had left a brand new copy of it on the week of its release. Waited a few weeks to claim it, in case the owner remembered where they left it, but finally claimed it, and of the thousands of records I own, this one is one of my most treasured, not a bad song, not a weak point, and unlike any other artist in the 80s. stood atop of the mountain, on a mountain nobody else climbed. The production alone is years ahead of its time, but its the song writing and musicianship, beyond any peers, but stands up today still as something nobody has ever come close to emulate.
if you liked the ninth wave, i cannot recommend the dreaming enough! it was a whole album of her being as experimental as possible, and has some of her most bold songs, both in subject matter and music. honestly it’s my favourite, and also bjork’s favourite - its absolutely a contender for my favourite album EVER. great reaction and thoughts! you’ve got yourself a new subscriber!
Thank you so much!! I will most definitely be covering The Dreaming in due time, I wanna take my time with her discography because each album so far has just been ohhhhh my god where do I even start LOL, can’t wait 😍🙏🙌 much love
cloudbusting is inspired by a cute lil story about a child and their dad/grandad who has a machine that can change the weather but the dad/grandad gets taken away :(
It's even more than 'just a story', but inspired by the real life father/son relationship of Wilhelm and Peter Reich, and Peter Reich's book 'A Book of Dreams'.

Sorry for two comments but for a modern artist to check out Lana Del Rey. She’s a very special artist. So much pop culture layered into her music.
