The statute is of Stefan Stambolov. A notable Bulgarian statesman and revolutionary, as well as a journalist and poet. In 1887 he was appointed Prime Minister and remained in power until 1894. He founded and led the People's Liberal Party until his assassination He has been criticized for his dictatorial methods. He was among the founders of the economic and cultural rise of Bulgaria, which lasted in the decades until the Balkan Wars. It was liquidated for political reasons as it was cut down in the street - that's why this statue is cut in two.
For tourists, I recommend paying for public transport with a card. One ticket for BGN 1.60, after 3 tickets for the day, you automatically get a ticket for the whole day at a price of BGN 4. And you will be able to drive unlimitedly during that day.

I should have done that 😭
I don't think those 11:38 are for wheel chairs. It's for a parent with a baby stroller most likely.
Okay thanks but either way they are very steep
@@CelticMickWalks all metro stations have elevators :)

Can't lie, it's pretty good 😊
Sofia Metro is very modern! It it NOT "old style".
It is a perspective, New looking and modern. I was just comparing to my experience in Metro's I have been in. No offence intended
@@CelticMickWalksold and dirty metro is in Berlin, Paris, London, but never in Sofia. Tis british arrogance against East Europe is bad.
@@yogiaol not British arrogance, Irish, Canadian, just been to several Metro systems and the cars is what I was referring to
The Metro in London and Paris is awful 😖. Why you don't say this. 🤔
@velichkokamburov9162 I have not been to London or Paris yet
👌
In most of the places in Sofia cards are accepted. Street food, souvenirs, street art and prostitutes are cash only.
Well I didn't have any need for the last one 😁
It's this guy: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stefan_Stambolov
Thanks for the information. Always appreciated 😊👍
