Don’t worry man. 2023 will be your year! Also don’t be bummed about not booking any commercials, you can still always say you were in a commercial with Shaq.
Thank you so much for making these videos, Kurt, no matter the results! I have been tracking my auditions since I really started two years ago and it really is a great tool to reflect on the past year and my progress. Thank you for your humbleness and keeping it real!
I really, deeply, wish you a 2023 full of jobs opportunities. And I hope you get booked as many times as possible. I wish you the most wonderful career! Your power of will is certainly something we all should look up to!
I auditioned a lot too and only got 3 booked last year. I don’t feel so bad now if it’s not just me. Maybe more to do with the recession. Thanks for this valuable info and tips
I love this! I say this all the time, but 81 auditions with 0 bookings, it can take people years to get their first 81 auditions and so many give up before getting anywhere close, which is a shame. Thanks for being so open about your own career Kurt, It's really inspiring
Kurt, you are just about the most open and honest helper/teacher! Really appreciate you sharing this! I’ve been a little discouraged about my dry spell, but this puts things in better perspective! Thanks again!!
Thank you so much, Kurt. Your videos are what helped me make the move to Atlanta a year ago and they are continuing to help me through my acting journey!
This is a great vid, Kurt. Even though I’m not pursuing a career in the industry, I found this vid to be really compelling, especially in light of all your success. A great reminder for folks to put things in perspective.
Thank you so much, Kurt, for sharing this information! It's really important to understand that this job is a roller coaster, so you are mentally prepared. Sending you good vibes for this new year!
Thank you so much for sharing this, Kurt! I've been away from acting for a few years now due to caregiving (still studying as much as I can tho) and your videos legitimately remind me how much I appreciate acting even the very, very natural ups and downs. I remember booking the very first two things I auditioned for right after college (indie film & student film) and was like 'oh yeah, here we go' and then proceeded to not book some dozens that followed lol. And I will be absolutely sure to check out Will Trent!
Great stuff, Kurt. As an actor who’s been in the game for 15 years, the numbers don’t always indicate progress or growth in an acting career. The ups n downs be real, but it adds joy to the journey.
Love this video !! Always motivating and encouraging 💪🏽I wouldn’t have moved to Atlanta from houston to chase my acting dreams if it weren’t for Kurt because I had no idea Atlanta had some many opportunities out here, until I starting watching your channel. Always honest , always humble.. I think I speak for all actors watching your videos when I say “ we appreciate you” 🙏🏾
Hi Kurt! I’ve been watching your videos for 1 year now, and I’ve been tracking my auditions with your cheat sheet. I booked my first short film role recently and had day 1 of filming yesterday. Thank you!!
Thanks to your videos and tips, I just booked my first acting job! There’s not much out there without an agent, so I’m really proud of myself for getting something without an agent or headshots yet, but I can’t wait to tell my acting coach!
Thank you for sharing your personal numbers to help us get a look at the reality of acting. Helps to better gauge what to expect realistically and not become as discouraged. Thanks for keeping it real!
Love this! It's so true - professional acting is a rollercoaster. Even month to month. But keeping at it and making sure you're staying strong in all the off-set aspects (networking, taking classes, updating headshots) will make you even more prepared for your next booking. Happy that the bookings you had were good ones!!
Lmao I got my first agent the day this vid came out, thank you for all of the information you share about this industry and all of the advice you give to aspiring actors! Keep up the amazing work Kurt!
Always Respect Kurt for always being honest in the industry... It's not a track meet it's a marathon.... This 2023 bounce back is going to be real.. Keep grinding 💪🏻
Mr Kurt, I'm so glad that you're back on RUclips with all your very informative videos about acting. You're very helpful and I have incorporated quite a few of your practice tools into my everyday life and acting. I'm here in Michigan and have been to Atlanta for several projects and can't wait to possible work with you on a project one day soon. Please keep teaching us who want to learn more.
I admire your bravery Kurt and am glad you didn't sugarcoat this. Up and down cycles are what we can expect; whether it be acting or in life, the key is to stay positive and carry on. BTW I'd like to add a topic I'd like to see- how to form an Acting Plan. As you know without a roadmap it's easy to get lost. With one, we empower and propel ourselves forward and onward.
Ha! I had an audition for Will Trent. The role was outside of my wheelhouse but I was pretty proud of how it came out. Suffice to say I didn't get the part. But hopefully I made the casting director a fan. Anyway thanks for all the videos Kurt! I've been a fan for quite some time. And I've gotten something from every one of your videos over the last few years. The changes you've helped me make I feel have definitely led directly to some of my bookings. Thanks again man! You're a Rockstar!
I was watching The hate u give in class and I saw you in it!! I didn’t know and I needed to look at your imdb to check you were in it, super cool to see you in an amazing movie!!
I watched Will Trent and I felt like screaming at the screen, "That's him. That's Kurt Yue. My first acting coach." Though, I've never met you in person and I haven't joined your virtual class, I still consider you as my first acting coach. You taught me how to break into this industry. You taught me how to find a local acting coach, which lead me to get my 2 agents, which lead me to be lead in 3 commercials. This April will mark my 1st year anniversary of being an actor. It's still the greatest job in the world, though I can't tell you how many auditions I've been on. I think I lost count in August. But, I'm learning. Learning to be patient with myself is the hardest part. However, the only way that I can get over that is by acting, so this weekend I auditioned for 3 student films. 2 of which I think I'm a shoe in for. I also, binge watched Will Trent this weekend. I absolutely love seeing you in a reoccurring role. Keep on inspiring us.
Thank you for being so honest and transparent. I think this video is appreciated by many in the industry, it shows that others are going through the same 'dry spells' as you and it really isn't a reflection on anyone's acting. Awesome positivity spread and may 2023 be full of great opportunities for us all!
Love your videos, especially your honesty and not mincing words! You are rare... Would you please do a video on How an actor can create his/her own opportunities, as opposed to just waiting for their agents to ring them up? I 'worry' about crossing the line and pissing off my agents! 😅
Hey Kurt love your videos! I started my first acting class 2 weeks ago and hoping to start auditioning once I get my headshots done this week! Also, I saw you in Wolf Pack and got so excited! 😂🎉
Only 2 auditions last year and booked one for a fan film because i knew the director from something else i was working on met you late last year great meeting you
Hello Kurt as always thank yoi for posting very insightful videos! I think that no matter how many roles you obtain, the number of auditions you did yourself is an achievement on its own!
It would be nice if we could get a video on seasonality in acting. I hear a lot of actors have busy summers and slow winters. It would be cool to see what times of the year you were most busy and how that impacts availability checks ect.
Thank you Kurt for being so transparent about your audition year. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain the process and learning how to enjoy it.🎭🎬👊🏾😎
I auditioned for 39 jobs in 2022 and got booked for 6, but none as a result of auditioning, but instead via networking and recommendations. It was my goal to audition for 100 jobs, but I got caught up producing my own short film, which I had to make in order for casting directors to get a better idea of my type and preference. All in all I think it was a good year. Could have gotten paid better tho. 😅
First and foremost congratulations and continued success! The power of your channel is your POV and experience. I know you hit on this briefly, having booked more substantial roles, than in previous years. I was wondering, if this was an intentional “strategy change” between you and your agency. If so, why did you feel now was the time? Thank you. Side question: Is there any project/position inside or outside of the industry that you would give up auditioning for 6 months?
Fun Stuff! I was curious, you touched on it briefly, were the type of roles in 22. Did you have more auditions for lead roles, recurring, strong supporting etc. Or have they all been about the same. Those could skew the numbers..
Do you work a side job alongside your acting? And if not, how do you maintain when/if you don’t book any roles? Love your content by the way, you’re a huge inspiration to me.
Kurt subverted my expectations for his 2022 auditions better than any M Night Shyamalan movie (but it’s all good he’s gonna book 50% of his auditions this year EASY)
Thanks, Melissa! This was the first video I recorded with my Sony A73. I've actually had this camera for years and was using it for my headshot photography (when I was still doing that). I have better lenses for the Sony than my Canon 80D, which is what I was using before. The main reason I switched was to have a dedicated camera for RUclips and a separate dedicated camera for my self tapes. I still use the Canon 80D for self tapes.
@@ActingCareerCenter Thanks for sharing! I love the look. It’s rich & a touch moody which I personally love. I love your audition stat videos btw. I’ve been wanting to do this for myself since the first video you did a couple years ago. 😂 although this year I booked a total of 0 jobs yes, ZERO jobs lol despite so many auditions. Yeah, I figured since I'm changing my camera, I might as well play with the lighting too. Same softbox lights as my self tape setup, just moved them around a bit. I love that you're finding the positives in a "down" year! Congrats on your growth at Houde! Here's to a great 2023!
Hi Kurt! Love your videos! I was an actor 30 years ago in Dallas and I’m giving it another go soon! Would you be able to give me the name of some reputable acting classes/seminars in Atlanta? Congratulations on your career! ~ Anita

Thanks for putting auditioning and booking into perspective. I had 72 auditions and booked 1 last year.

Can't wait to see those two indie films.
Do you think that working on crew in addition to acting would help boost your acting career?
It would be nice if we could get a video on seasonality in acting. I hear a lot of actors have busy summers and slow winters. It would be cool to see what times of the year you were most busy and how that impacts availability checks ect.
Always Inspiring! Thanks for a great video.. Haider
Just wanted you to know that you are making a difference.
Thank you Kurt for being so transparent about your audition year. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain the process and learning how to enjoy it.🎭🎬👊🏾😎
Gj! Just keep going. Even 1 booking is new connections and friends.
Thank you so much for your Videos. They are very helpful.
Thank u soo much Brother. God bless ur good heart
Love from India 🇮🇳
we miss u king
Thanks Kurt!
Congrats on Will Trent…saw you last week’s episode
Your suggestions helps to know more about acting
My son did the same he audition a lot jobs but only got 4 last year. Hopefully 2023 will be better.
Dude I just saw your scene in wolf pack. You did a great job, total surprise seeing you in the show. Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much, Kurt! You're such an inspiration to us aspiring actors and artists. More power to you and your channel! 🤍🤍🤍 ✨️✨️✨️
It’s simple, Kurt posts, I watch!
Hey Kurt thanks for the video. Do you think 4 bookings last year was good financially?
Very informative and honest 👍
Hi Kurt! Could you possibly make a video about pay??
First and foremost congratulations and continued success! The power of your channel is your POV and experience. I know you hit on this briefly, having booked more substantial roles, than in previous years. I was wondering, if this was an intentional “strategy change” between you and your agency. If so, why did you feel now was the time? Thank you.
Side question: Is there any project/position inside or outside of the industry that you would give up auditioning for 6 months?

This video is very informative thanks for shared :)
Do you work a side job alongside your acting? And if not, how do you maintain when/if you don’t book any roles?
Love your content by the way, you’re a huge inspiration to me.
I had 40 auditions in 2022 and booked 3 jobs. 1 audition for a movie and 1 audition for episodic TV.
Hey Kurt , Can you do a video about how to train your voice? pls
Kurt subverted my expectations for his 2022 auditions better than any M Night Shyamalan movie
(but it’s all good he’s gonna book 50% of his auditions this year EASY)
🤣
I love your videos I’ve been watching for about 2 years I want to get into acting I’m writing my own screenplay I’m going to film it aswell
Thank you for everything
Thanks for sharing ! Your camera looks great!! Did you upgrade your YT equipment?! Pls share 🙏🏼🙏🏼

I HOPE TO SEE YOU ON SET ONE DAY KURT!! :D
Thanks for sharing.
Kinda figured that you booked fewer, but they were longer recurring roles
I got 4 out of 60 auditions, 2 from TV and 2 from VO. Sometimes just feel frustrated. But well, better than nothing I guess.
Hey Kurt, I’m an actor that lives in South Florida. I just recently got back into it. I’ve been doing a lot of stage plays and started filming an independent film last month all of which has been as you say direct offers. That's right, you have a photo studio
