How the Way was Paved. A behind the scenes commentary on how the episode was made. Not that it's needed, but I find it inspirational seeing how other videos are created, so hopefully this helps to see how it's all pieced together.

3:00 - Cast and music
4:08 - A one-location story
5:10 - The crash

I love how close nit this community is so many creators doing everything from voicing to 3d printing.
Great to see your stories make a comeback, behind the scenes videos are always a treat! Well done!
Thanks very much!
Excellent modelling and filming Max! You know the main video is excellent when the behind the scenes video is great too. I always liked behind the scenes videos anyway, as they add to the main video enormously.
Such a unique fan episode, I love it! It really inspires other people to make their own Thomas episodes, and how Ivo Hugh fits in with the other narrow gauge engines because he’s purple instead of his red livery that was presented to us in the railway series, I enjoy the diversity around them, thank you for showing us this behind the scenes video, it’s a pleasure to be a member of the Thomas fandom.
The sets are honestly amazing work
Thank you.
Something I do when I have two trains on one track but only need one to move is I disconnect the track section that the idle train is on so it won’t receive any power from the rest of the track that the moving train is on.
While you're at it would you mind helping me pave the road that leads to my university? It's been a bit bumpy lately.
Let me just fire up the steamroller.
@@Terrier55Stepney if you pardon my ask are you autistic?🇬🇧
@@Terrier55Stepney Make sure he doesn't pick fights with any narrow gauge tank engines with "steamroller wheels." Especially ones pulling gunpowder wagons. Everyone should be thankful that George didn't derail Sir Handel's trucks the first time they met.
Fantastic to see these behind the scenes videos on here again. Your sets are amazing to see. And see the work you've done working on it fascinates me.
Can't wait to see more of these types of videos. As well as your own series of stories here. The first one is fantastic so far.
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoy these.
Awesome! You've inspired me to make my own little railway in the future and craft my own stories.
Fred: THIS WASN’T IN MY TRAINING! WHAT DO I DO IN THIS SITUATION? THE SHEDS ON FIRE!
Your models look great as always, Max!
Awesome video Max! I'm like you, I LOVE seeing how other creators work and make their videos, especially with models. It can be such a tedious process, but at the same time, so fulfilling and enjoyable, and I can really feel your passion as you describe your work! Great job again, can't wait to see what's to come! Also, I hate to plug lol, but I just did a behind the scenes video on my latest remake if you're interested in seeing more of that stuff.
Dude this is so sick so much better than modern Thomas
This is a HUGE inspiration for me
Especially in this scale I cant wait to make my own vids w/ 009 one day
You're awsome
I hope I get to meet you at the talyllyn again this year
One thing that I loved you did was make sure all the Skarloey engines are different colors which I much prefer to the RWS depiction with all the engines the same color
Got my tickets for the awdry extravaganza and I’m really excited
4:50 just please don’t give them a winch to climb up, a whole dinosaur on a flatbed, or a puppet show train.
🤍 bring on tight schedule! ☺️
Return to the good old days
I've last month finished making some slate trucks out of cardboard which was the last thing for a small squarloey railway thing with the first 4 engine, 2 coaches, Beatrice and 4 slate trucks with 2 of them being filled with real slate found on the beach
That sounds resourceful! I love the name Squarloey for a layout.
@@Terrier55Stepney That was just a spelling mistake but it does sound nice I might keep it for a head cannon or something
Heritage railways are the embodiment of "humans will pack-bond with anything."
This video certainly inspired me. I would also like to model the Skarloey railway + Skarloey, Rheneas, Sir Handel, Peter Sam, Rusty, Duncan, Ivo Huge, Duke and Fred + I’d also like to model Smudger, Luke and other narrow gauge members. And the scenes with Bramble were pretty funny. Skarloey: I’VE GOT COAL IN MY EYES! Fred: Every time I empty them, you lot just make more soot and smut! We’re running out of space to put it! I might move them later, just, yawn, taking a quick nap. Skarloey: Huff! I’ll wake you up before book club starts.
I've rewatched parts of the episode and probably will watch it all over from the beginning again. However, I have avoided the trailer due to not wanting spoilers, so I don't know if the trailer says when the next episodes are intended to come out. When will episode 2 be available to non-~~Bluebell engines~~ Patreons? I'm hoping it's not going to be a monthly release, as I honestly want to binge the series like I'd watch an entire half-hour Thomas and Friends DVD in one sitting (even though these episodes are three times longer).
The individual voice actors were all well-picked and all did their jobs well, the music lent itself well to the episode, and the story itself feels natural and believable and integrates characters I (As someone who has yet to read the Railway Series but has seen several episodes each from most of the classical seasons of the show) know only by mention into the show version of the cast so well that I long to see more. This episode raises such a high bar and fill such a valuable niche (Through the role of Ivo Hugh) that I am quite content to integrate this series into my own personal head cannon without watching any other fan episodes, for fear that they would be a letdown or that I would fall into yet another RUclips rabbit hole (Although I'm guessing that almost every voice actor in this episode's cast has produced similar episodes of their own, as I recognize a few of the names).
Thanks for creating this video. The same goes to all the other wonderful voice actors who were involved. Paving the Way has been a pleasure to watch, and I look forward to seeing the future antics of the Clever Little Engines.
@Terrier55Stepney At this point it's been a month since the first episode made its debut and I'm curious what the release schedule is going to be. I caved in and watched the trailer (Which thankfully didn't feel like it had many spoilers) but didn't find any details there as to when episode 2 is coming. Could you please share this information? I'm eager to see what Ivo Hugh experiences next!
Best wishes 😊
Can you make RH&DR Whistles?
Goes crazy
0:20 Is that bogie brakevan Queen Mary from the Extended Railway Series?
It's a callback to a very early episode of mine where I characterised one of those brake vans myself.
@@Terrier55Stepney Ah, ok. Still cool, love the idea of new style of brakevan.
Hello can you make a mid ww2 layput with some german locomotives pulling some tanks and artillery and some no no flags up there too so kinda like a victor tanzing stories of war layout.
How did you make your skr engine model where did you get the models
I'm a bit lazy to find story inspiration, help!!!! Also, how in the Fausticorn's world did you think of those jokes? They're funny!
Also, how many troubles and triumphs you have to face when the S.R. stuff was being made?
Hello Could you make a mid 1942 world war 2 layout with some german locomotives pulling tanks and stuff kinda like victor tanzigs stories of war.
Cool
Is any of the music from Paving the Way, or Tight Schedule available to listen to?
@@zphotography7305 We are planning to release the full soundtracks, just working on the presentation. For now, there's similar themes on Nattles' channel and Soundcloud.
@@Terrier55Stepney ah ok. Thank you mate!
Yo can u help me pave the road that leads to my school its kinda bumpy
will you be at the awdry ex 4
I will indeed! Looking forward to it.
@@Terrier55Stepney me to i will be there aswell
Man falling over was funny
Did you make the coaches yourself or just get them from a shop
Some coaches are ready to run models, like the Bachmann Skarloey coaches. Others are 3D prints or kits like the bogie and open coaches.
@@Terrier55Stepney ok thanks
How did you make your Crovens gate building?
I will be making separate videos on how I made all the sets and rolling stock. It was scratch-built out of card and clay.
Thx!
Hi
Who composed the intro music
The music is by Nattles124/Pogle. I show their Soundcloud in the video.
What is the song called
Don’t you hate it when you get a healthy amount of carbon in your pupil?
