😀 A BIT ABOUT US:
We’re Marianne & Chris, a happily married couple from the UK. Marianne is a living kidney donor to her best friend, and realising that life was for living and never really knowing what’s round the corner - we decided to fulfil our dream of travelling full time.
So in March 2018 after the kids had left home, we sold our belongings, rented our house and moved into our campervan called Trudy. We set off to see the world and after vanlifing around Ireland and Europe, we grabbed our backpacks and spent 5 months exploring Central America.
Feeling like we needed a challenge, we planned the ultimate van life adventure! In Jan 2020 set off to drive around the World from UK to UK. But after arriving in Turkey, covid caught up with us and closed the borders, so we had a wonderful 18 months exploring this special country. Realising we were not going to be able to head further East, we decided to do a handbrake turn and go the other way and shipped our van to the USA.
We hope you enjoy coming with us, and we’ll continue to share our real adventures and hope you feel inspire to step out of your comfort zone and try something new.
Great Landscape, 70 Miles per Hr ❤ or 112 Km per Hr much Safer than 80 Miles per/hr 😊👍🙏
The trees among the pines are Aspen. They are actually all connected underground by their roots and considered one plant. The contrast between their fall colors and the pines is one thing they are famous for. So delighted you got to see them!
The reason why all the bacon, sausages etc… had sugar in them is because you were shopping at Walmart. If you get the chance, try shopping at a Whole Foods, Sprouts, Natural Grocers, or any other natural health food store for a more healthier selection.😊
Thanks for the tips Barbara - we will check them out
The fir trees that turn yellow are Larch trees. When we used to cut down dead trees for firewood we had to make sure they were actually dead and not larch that shed their needles.
It is interesting seeing familiar scenery through the eyes of a foreigner! So many things we take for granted!
Living out in small communities is all about wide open spaces, not packed in like sardines. Less drama, cleaner air...etc.
Butte, Montana was the home town of Evel Knievel. 🏍️
Those “fir” trees are deciduous evergreen trees called Tamarack trees. I didn’t get enough of a look at your eagle. Eagles will only hover in very heavy winds so am think it is maybe a Northern Harrier or Rough_ legged Hawk.
Ow thanks !
Wonderful film love it.Very interesting to see the landscape changing. Such expanse of landscape without people or houses.France is twice the size of GB yet has less than half the population. You have made the right decision to travel while you are young enough to get the most out of it .Thank you for sharing so much .x
We were so excited to see Trudy traveling 4th of July Pass in Idaho. Our family has enjoyed watching you for so long. It was fun filming you as you filmed us.
We were happy to welcome you to Idaho.
Haha, you wait until you get to Australia, where you can drive for 8 hours without the scenery changing :-). Once, on the Stuart hwy, the sat nav told us to turn right in 1100 kms. I got a real kick out of that!
Fun fact: Catalina Island off the coast of Southern California has Bison, mule deer & antelope. None are native, the bison was brought over by a movie studio in the 1920's filming a movie. The bison stayed after the shoot. The Mule deer & antelope were introduced to the island for hunting in the 1920's as well.
I lived as a child in Electric city. Spokane is pronounced Spo can.
This was my neck of the woods....Missoula! I lived south of there for 10 years and worked at the hospital in Missoula. When I first moved there I couldn't find a place to rent for my cat, 2 dogs and myself. I found myself living in a tent the whole Summer at the KOA campground. I got a job at the hospital and would ride my bike to work while leaving the truck behind for the cat and the dogs had permission to stay tied by the tent. Finally though, we got a home in the early Fall. I was at Yellowstone in Sept. and it was already cold at night but you really got some COLD....and snow. Looking forward to seeing you two explore the park. Come on down south now before you turn into popcycles. Tread swiftly and safely.
OMG midwestern winters are the worst !
Get yourselves to SoCal stay! 🙀
Yes... I also love the look and feel of North American suburbs.... just like you see in the movies.
I lived in Canada for a few years working for a contractor.
I was exposed to many different types of houses while I was there.
I loved the fact that most of them were made out of wood.
What you could do to personalize them was endless.
My dream excursion to the U.S. is not far in the future.
Loving these videos. ❤
Seeing all the road footage makes me want to get out on the road.
I expect you are somewhere warmer by now, but one tip for very cold weather is, when you start your vehicle, don't have the heater blowing on the windshield, the sudden rise in temperature can crack a windshield from one side to another, it's a very common occurrence in the north
Thanks for the tip Adrian - yep Trudy takes about 10 - 15 minutes to get to warm heat ... so no danger of that LOL !! 😉
Size iyi ve sağlıklı yolculuklar Marianne , yolunuz açık olsun. 👍👍👍🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷👍👍👍
hello friends .. your Turkish fans are following.. we are still here...
We live in Idaho Falls, over the years we have covered all the area in this video. We have a small Airstream trailer and travel a good deal. We were just in Ennis day before yesterday, but not with the trailer, it is very cold now, 15 F in Ennis. Many place names in the western US are not pronounced as they are spelled. Spokane (Spocan), Coeur d'Alene (Corda lane). We have watched all your videos and love them. You folks are the best!!! May your future travels be safe and as problem free as possible.
Thirty years ago we were on holiday in Washinton State from Scotland and being driven to Seattle from Kennewick. We could see Mt Rainier. We asked how far away it was and were told "60 miles"! Driving at 60mph it took an hour to get near Rainier. Literally could see for miles and miles! Stunning landscape.
I wish you a continuation of your beautiful America journey full of health and well-being.
Thank you
we stopped in a place called Panguitch, just off the mountains by Brian Head Ski resort, we asked our best route, "you can go the quick route but that'll be snowy (October) or the long route which will be safe", snowy yeah right, we're both good drivers, oh no look left JCB and the snow was above that!
Great amazing show 😊 Today at home watching your video extremely entertaining please give us more
The yellow trees are larches. There is only a short window in the fall that they are yellow - glad you got to see them.
Marianne you're a trooper amazing driving for long haul for last 5 yrs. 😊
Thank you! 😃 I love driving !! Woo Hoo
FYI - many mountains in Rockies have snow on them year round. 😊
Great scenery despite the cold!
Beautiful scenaries . Great travelling with you.😘😘
It's Absolutely Beautiful ❤️
Thank you 🎉❤
Your right Marianne you will always have each other to keep warm 🫶
How amazing is that outdoor library 👌 Trudy is a worldwide superstar 🤗❤
We Love Trudy !! woo hoo !!
Beautiful, haha Marianne's reaction when you said pancakes. Love your adventures hope you're more impressed with Yellowstone than Eva was. You are lovely people
Brilliant as usual, the scenery looks amazing.
Don’t get caught by the snow coming up…time to get your skates on😆
Nice trip! Hope the snow doesn't beat you!! 👍
Run away 🥶🥶🥶
We were in Yellowstone the same time you were trying to get there. Didn’t realize how much snow they were going to get. We ended up being the only people at Old Faithful that Saturday morning because it was starting to snow. It was absolutely amazing!! Wish we would have run into y’all in West Yellowstone! Love your channel!
Sorry we missed you - yep I think with the snow it was a more magical experience 🙌
The yellow trees should be Larch also known as Tamarac.
So thrilled to see you in my stomping grounds! The chains are a must if you hit snow on mountain range passes. Enjoy! Be safe. Do as much as possible to add weight in the back of Trudy to help with traction if you do hit snow. Consider bags of cat litter. They add weight. And can be opened and the litter spread out under tires for traction if you get stuck in a snow drift with your tires spinning.
I have the same kettle in yellow!
We are going to Yellowstone in 2023 but in the summer months. I've been there five times now and love it! Lots of both animals and geological features. Glad you are driving safely! The Interstate will close if the weather is awful by the way. Here in the USA people live in tiny communities who are retired, or commute long distances to far jobs, or have self-employment or are loggers, doctors, nurses, teachers or work for a governmental agency in the area.
We were at Yellowstone in August once and it was forecast to snow. We camped in a tent in Cody and it was freeeeezing!
We've been watching you for a long time. Thanks for the all the adventures. We live on Vancouver Island so it was fun to watch you explore our neighbourhood. So the trees are called Larch. Its deciduous nature makes this species especially resistant to fire and resilient to injury. Larch trees can lose much of their canopy and still regrow their needles the following year. It's a favourite for fireplaces because of the high heat it throws. And it's Canada Geese. Not Canadian Geese. I'm pretty sure they're not flying around with Canadian passports lol.
Love the new bonnet graphics
👋 Hola from New Mexico🌵🌶️. Angels all around you! It's been real cold at night here. My water froze up the other night. 🥶
Many of those little inexplicably located small towns have grown around forts, and government offices established in the days of the 'wild west', land agents etc. They also become 'hub' towns or cities, as the feed store and other services required by farmers in that area. - if you think back to shows like 'Little House on the Prairie' or most westerns, there are frequent scenes when people will make a day or two long journey to go and get supplies. Back on Vancouver Island, Nanaimo is often referred to as 'Hub City', as that was - and still is - where a large portion of islanders have to go for certain goods or services.
And the town of Duncan didn’t exist until a local farmer lobbied the railway to stop in the area to pick up and drop crops and supplies. - the farmer was called William Duncan and the train station is still there. Everything in that town stems from having a train station there. Pretty much the reverse of the UK, where the railways were built to link the towns. Where most British cities developed along rivers - in part for the transportation advantages - in North America, towns developed alongside the railroad.
I love when you start the video with making Coffee 😍.
And the landscape was gorgeous !
If your videos were in real time we might have crossed paths, as we are in Idaho today, and will also visit Cracker Barrel for breakfast! Heading down through Utah today. Enjoy beautiful Yellowstone, and we loved Grand Teton too! ❤️
I'm so happy that you decided to include Yellowstone in your trip! When I visited the park in 1986 it was mid-September, and I wore my storm coat the plus is it was off season and not a lot of tourist. Our tour bus left via the east highway toward Cody, WY through the Beartooth mountains most of which is mostly switchback with elevation of 12,000+ ft. and got caught in a snowstorm. Our poor bus driver was sweating bullets until we reached Cody, WY. In short, I believe I left a piece of my heart at Yellowstone, it's in my opinion the most beautiful place in America, and a geological wonder with all the geysers! Stay safe & keep your distance from the Bison.
Yep it is a one of our favourite places in the USA
Too cold makes me happy I moved from the north to Florida.. love the video :)
Amazing drive and scenery x
continued safe travels as you truck on along side mother nature take care ❤️🙋♀️
@TREAD the globe
The Geese are heading to Austrailia!
LOL !! Woo hoo - we are following them 🙌🌺🚐
More wonderful scenery. Amazing! 🏔Safe travels.
great to see snow bit like were i live in the far north of Scotland. but as yet we have nothing, great video
eline emeğine sağlık bu güzel vlog için kolay gelsin hayırlı işler....👍👍👍👍
Awesome thank you 🇬🇧🍀👍🙏
Such a shame you didn't have more time in Spokane and CDA Idaho! Hope you have a safe trip South.
The snow is pretty crazy everywhere right now.. and deeper in the mountains you might not see snowplows
I wish you had time to visit Whitefish and Glacier Park our favourite places in Beautiful Montana ! Safe travel!
we went to Yellowstone, saw the Mountain Lion signs and walked back to the car.
You didn't know anything about Yellowstone before driving there?
@@tootz1950 nope, didn't really know much about America other than we liked it
Faster than grizzlies can run also. Very fast. They can tear you UP. Hope you have some bear spray and or a bear horn. Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons are lovely in the summer.
Avoiding sugar and then eat at Cracker Barrel lol.
Hey guys, I hope you got to see the bear and wolf sanctuary. Hope all is well with you both. Keep us in mind if you come back through New Mexico. We'd love to have you over.
You two are probably too young to remember YOGI BEAR & BOO BOO, but if you see them in Yellowstone Park, say hello from a big Fan.
Thank you!
Get yourself down to Baja for winter. It was the advice we were given and it was a great shout 👍
We are coming !!
@@TREADtheglobe you'll love it there. Amazing beach camping. Baby turtles and lots of whales 🐳
Those are all things we love .... 🌺🙌
Absolutely epic...
Awesome, amazing and beautiful, enjoy
As per normal, very much enjoy watching your adventure. My son took me to the USA to burning man in 2019. Amazing experience. But what got me was trying to find peanut butter without sugar and additives! Peanut butter should be just peanuts ground up. Worst spotted an Aussie peanut butter on the grocery shelves recently! And you guessed it, it contained sugar! 🤷
Mother Nature, when she is good, she is very very good, and when she is bad, it’s always weather. Be safe, I’ll be hoping you don’t get snowed in. If you do call heavy D and the boys to get you out. They’re incredible folk, like you!
Thanks Norma - we will keep moving south !!
What an amazing road trip love u guys!
Thanks Riccardo - we love you too 🌷
You guys should have enough chicken and vegetables soup 😂😂if the cold front comes…nothing like a hot soup…
Lonnie Donegan sang a song about the Coulee Dam ...... just a useless piece of information for ya, lol, As for long driving days we think going from one side of the Isle of Wight to the other is a long drive 🤣, I`m sure Marianne can relate to that ..... although we have done Route 66. Safe travels.
Absolutely !!
The snow is hot on your tail. Lol.
Chris sir you are absolutely right about the sugar! As a former prediabetic I have struggled to find REAL food without it. This is why everybody is getting massively obese. I am sure many of the covid people caught the virus bc of the sugar overload.
Keep up the great videos please!
so excited for you both to get to experience all these beautiful landscapes for the first time... snow or not!! haha Hope you guys get some snow cause it really does make the even more beautiful :)
Us too! It was absolutely fabulous and the views in the next video are some that I will remember forever !! sending love - see you soon !! (hopefully) xx
The 2nd route might be easier. I’ve done both twice. I hope ya miss that snow.. safe travels :)
9:56 Wellshire Farms has a sugar free turkey bacon. I know it's sold at Whole Foods, don't know where else.
Thanks for the tip 👍
@@TREADtheglobe Yes, you can also get sugar free bacon at a store called Trader Joe's. You may want to check them out. If you were traveling in the states probably a decade or so ago it would be even more rare to find, but it is more popular now because of the popularity of the "keto diet" and "whole 30". If you do searches for those diets that should also help in your search for sugar free items like salsa, ketchup, spaghetti sauce, sausage, salad dressing, etc.
That wasn’t an eagle hovering, that was an Osprey.
Thanks Todd
Snow hot on your tails wow Chris the American snow is so much different to the none existent British snow!...lol
I love Cracker Barrel I hope it comes to the UK !
Blessings to you both!
Thanks Nick - yep we are excited to see snow - but not too much !! M
Enjoyed the travel take care
Hello Ambassadors
I loved the scenery. All Geology.. Hope one day I will accomplish this trip myself. Thanks for to the great videos. I am glad that you have escaped the front. Keep coming down south, though we are getting rain since two days. Yellowstone by itself is going to be exciting I am sure.
Love you guys💕💕💕🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷
Thanks Nick 🌷
Walmart bought Asda in Uk many years ago. It isn’t a recent take over.
Is Maryanne still driving at 70 km per hour like back in Canada? Think miles again LOL, even the guys who are hauling trailers are passing. I was hoping that you could have paid a visit to Helena as well. It's a beautiful little town (Montana State Capitol) like in the 19th century America!
LOL - no ... 70 MPH 😂
Another beautiful drive under our belts.
There certainly is a difference between US vs British drivers. A 600 mile drive to me is an 8-10 hour drive.
You mentioned the speed limit in Montana, they are one of the states that like to kick back against federal regulations. For roads, it was the interstates that brought a federal speed limit. Some states didn’t like it. In the early eighties and the 'fuel crisis' hit, speed limits on interstates was reduced to 55mph. Montana responded by abandoning speed limits. I think they reintroduced them in 1999? During that period, outside towns with their own bylaws, the only speeding regulation - which was signposted - was 'reasonable and prudent'
Went to the Amazon link for Jackery. You can get a solar panel but the generators are "currently unavailable," and they don't know when they will be back in stock. Thanks for the interesting ride through places where I never want to go. Hope you are in Mexico by now.
Thanks for the info! I have informed Jackery that they have a 'blip' and I have checked both links - the website has stock !! woo hoo 🙌🌺
Woooow well you smashed it again 👏 another great video do looking forward to Yellowstone national park 🏞 it's still on my list of places to go
Be safe stay warm stock up on a hearty soup 🍲 🙏 😋 xxx
Thank you - yep loved Yellowstone .... coming soon !!
There is only 2 true buffalo species in the world, The Cape Buffalo in Africa and the Water Buffalo is SE Asia, the rest are bison, cows, goats, sheep and antelope, though all are in the bovine family.
You’ve mentioned in the past that you have access to Netflix or similar? If you can find them, 'A River Runs through it’ was a very popular movie set in Missoula, and 'Legends of the Fall' with Anthony Hopkins, Brad Pitt etc. is a reasonable depiction of life in Montana in the early 1900s.
Legends of the fall was primarily filmed in BC and Alberta.
@@mzomy3992 I’m pretty sure that a River a runs through it wasn’t primarily filmed in Missoula either, both movies are based on books - and the movies are based around those places, both depictions of what life was - or might have been like in those regions. There is also enough range in the Alberta landscape for it to represent Montana quite well.
Re: trains - they are usually two miles long.
Wow !!
the corn syrup in food is most toxic
😮i hope safe travel!
They are called Canada Geese, not Canadian geese. I quibble because Americans often come at us when they have a Canada goose poop on their lawn. They do not claim status here in Canada and they don't require passports for border crossings either 🤣
😉😂👍
a deer, also an El Camino.
HOPE YOUR EATING HEALTHY AS YOU ARE SAT DOWN A LOT, AND DO YOUR STRETCH EXERCISE, ALTHO THE EGG AND BACON DID LOOK NICE
Have you posted a revised map of places you'll visit, adjusted for the delay from Trudy's repairs? Still hoping to catch you looping through St. Louis, but I understand if you might be headed south faster now. :(
Hey ! Yep we are indeed behind - we have posted it on the patreon page and we are sharing info on the free weekly newsletter in realtime too as we are moving fast to get to the warmer weather 🌺
@@TREADtheglobe I didn't see anything on Patreon, which post?
Where do you plan on being for Christmas Day? Safe travels!
Somewhere in the south of Baja ... but we will share this in the newsletter realtime - maybe a live chat .. not sure yet !! 😂🌺🙌
Did you have get new jackory for US? Will you have get different one when you go Australia?
Hi - yep we do carry a US and UK one - we shouldn't need a 3rd one as we manage to plug in and power all of the items that we have in the van that we carry 🌺
