Nice, gotta love the sound of Detroit powered trucks! Out of the dozens and dozens of trucks I've driven in my lifetime short haul dump trucks with Detroits are by far my favorite.
My parents had a moving company when I was growing up...they had a couple of Astros just like this one...seemed like a 318DD was a big step up,from a 238DD....anyway a decent motor for the time...as long as you put a gallon of oil in them about every 1000 miles..lol
I don’t know what it is but I’ve always liked that style of semi truck with the cab over. Especially yours is awesome here’s a like and subscribe from me
Man. Oh man what I would do to own one of those. Detroit diesels are just pure gold perfect engine 👍 and the horn 🤤 no diddy tho love the video man can't wait to watch more.
I love this type of panel on old American trucks, because they are complete in functionality. Many are very luxurious for their time.. I'm not American but I believe it's because of these kind of "small things" that I think, they are proud to be Americans. Please, I ask that in the next election you guys choose a good president who does not risk another country attacking this beautiful country of yours with nuclear weapons and destroying everything that was built there. Just as there are beautiful things in other countries, they can also be destroyed by this type of conflict. Nice video, I hope that one day American Truck Simulator or Euro Truck Simulator will have this level of depth and detail in trucks.
@@tnolds I bet when you're parked, you'd have to put some muscle steering since that thing weighs more than a car. But does steer easy when you're moving. I heard cabover semis built back in the 1970s & down didn't have power steering. I didn't expect that semi to take off that fast. Wow first time I've ever seen a semi move like that. Normally when semis are stopped, they take a while to go fast, even if it doesn't have a trailer hooked up to it.
@@KevinRichards-my5oj I can't turn it unless I'm moving, superman might be able to turn it sitting still. But it does do great on the interstate. My camaro is manual steering and I have no problem with it. It is pretty fast I've surprised a lot of people merging in the interstate with it haha.
@@tnolds back in the day when the overall length limit in the USA was shorter, cabover semis were the king of the roads. Today you see mostly conventional cab semis.
Semis towing tiny trailers always cracks me up.
Old long hauling buddies called the Astros 'All Glass and No Class' trucks. I love anything with a V-8 in it but a 903 and a 555. Do it!
I came here to watch this video exclusively because of you towing the small trailer
Same haha
😁
Videos like this help me with my ptsd thank you
That's great, I'm glad to hear that.
This little truck is growing on me, lol. I love the little cutout in the dash so you can see out of the lower passenger window
love that 8V71 detroit music! And those 'no privacy' cabs sure are their own kind of cool
the only thing missing was a tonka toy excavator tied down to the trailer. lol that thing sounds so sweet.
Man I love the sound of these 2 strokes 👍

The Detroit diesels are the one of the best sounding diesel engines
Far out man!! Anybody else remember? 😊

brother those shifts were very smooth. Great job and keep up the practice youll only get better
Thanks I appreciate it!

I always take my cabover for errands on weekends.
That trailer though. Lol
OK Fuller Eaton, very special gearboxes......
Love that sound!
More videos of this gem.

Your Trucks sound reminds me for Ford Transit MK 3 with KHD Diesel Engine, it sound familiar, spezial at fast gear changes...
Very cool!!!!!!! 🤜🤛
Detroit Diesel we had in the Chevrolet Suburban 6.5 V8 Diesel.... Fine car....... But the rust resistance and the midgerman weather.....
What generation? I'm pretty sure it was a 6.2 when they started using rust resistant primers
A semi with a tiny trailer hooked to it is something you don't see everyday.
Very Cool
Looks like it's pretty easy to drive.
I think my pickup is longer than this, which is crazy. I want a truck like this to drive to school
I like that truck
Such a sweet symphony of cylinders!
How's yer back? ;)
Respect, eh!
You better have a permit for that load and pilot cars
Love the truck reminds me of the maximum overdrive truck were in tn are you from i live in Nashville
In Nashville
it's like buying a american truck only to run errands or go shopping, buying a semi designed for towing and then getting a tiny trailer lmao
That's what it gets used for now. It's in retirement lol.
Is it with splitter?
No just a range from 1-5 and 6-10
Does it have a jake brake?
No Jakes on this one
Can you take a video from the outside too please! 😁
Good idea
Whew, wasn't sure if you'd get there with that huge oversized, overweight load you were hauling...! Ha ha
You got one hell of a load there driver no scales needed on this trip….com on…
people say you need a truck for towing but this is just a bit excessive i feel lol
Is this a 2-stroke diesel? IK its a stupid question for those who know, but it sounds like one to me. Fun video to watch! Thanks for the upload.
Yes it is. Thanks for watching!
@@tnolds cheers. Keep on hauling those dangerous loads!
oh yeah, it's got that screaming engine that isn't actually revving high...
No jakes connected? Or just didn't want to use them in that area? It would've sounded even better with jake brakes.
No Jakes on this truck unfortunately.
All you need is a Jake brake to let her eat sweet sounding truck don’t make them like that anymore
Truck a way
Do you have a CDL and do the cops hassle you?
No cdl not required in TN since I don't haul in commerce. Haven't been yet let's hope it stays that way lol.
Does that old cabover have power steering?
No it's manual

@@tnolds GMC & Chevy cabover semis are super rare these days. I bet that thing turns a lot of heads when you're driving down the road.

Just don't hear of the 8V71's referred to as 318's anymore.
Very weird shiftstick...
I'm not a big fan either. I'm looking to get a straight shifter
bro drives optimus prime
Ginger freindly♥️
I think that trailer is too heavy!
4 stroke or 2 stroke engine.......
2 stroke
no sound at all , fix the video
