I think the grand Vitara is a true crossover i.e a true cross between family car and hardcore offroader. Not just a jacked up hatchback like the new Vitara
Nice. Daughter just picked up a 2008 3.2 v6 auto 5 door GV. We're in the Glasshouse area, looking forward to teaching her what the GV can do without going crazy.
Just bought a 2014 5 door 2.4 petrol...really impressed with it,built like a tank underneath....sitting at 44mpg on a motorway run cruising at 60 mph,32 mpg around the town, you wouldn't hear it running, they did a great job refining that engine...although very good underneath I took a day and repainted all the metal arms and framing underneath with an epoxy black paint, and gave it a coating of waxoyle, should last me a while lol.
Go the Grand Vitara mate ! You're into it champ ... well done !!! They're actually a very capable and comfortable little beast. We've got a 2006 V6 and we got camping in it all the time into some pretty wild tracks. As long as you know your limitations and don't expect it to drive like a rock crawling monster truck, it will get you in, and out, of most places you take it. Again, good stuff champ
Anarchy sorry mate, I only just saw this comment now ... don’t know if you’re still in the market but yes, can highly recommend them and just great for camping and the like 👍👍 Hope you got yourself one already, let me know how you got on. 😉
chris lawes mate I don’t really do much beach driving myself but I have heard they’re great on sand because unlike some of the bigger heavier Patrols and LandCruisers etc, they don’t really bog down too much being a fair bit lighter and still having a decent bit of power. 👍
I love my 2008 Grand Vitara (2.7L V6). I don't take it to rock climbing-off roads, we have a truck for the job. But the GV is super capable and reliable in the Canada winter's heavy snow.
Suzuki's TC and VSC have to be one of the best . I have been saved twice on wet roads because of the VSC straightening the car when it slid to the wrong side of the road.Shame I sold it....having said that I am driving car number 28 in 26 years....
How did it go on the beach? Much soft sand? Want to get a car capable of tackling sand but would much rather the extra space and comfort of a gv than a Jimny
Hey Fester, as it says in the title it was his first time offroad ever. He asked to be spotted to learn what line and how much momentum and what gear etc. 😉 cheers

Mine has a 50mm lift and slightly larger AT tyres. These two mods alone make a huge difference to off road ability.
You lifted with ammo and springs? Dobinsons?
Put some all terrain tyres on and it runs really well!
the Suzi did well up that steep track

Has he since got the bug and done more mods to the GV?
He hasn't done any extra mods yet, but he definitely enjoyed going out 4wding. We went up the beach the other weekend and he loved it! Good fun : D

@@michaeldalton3604 They go great on the sand mate!
Are those recovery shackles on the front bumper? How did you hook those up?
They are tow points, it was towed by a motor home 😊
with a 2 inch lift and bigger tyres would you consider the GV a viable offroader ?
Absolutely Chris! They are a very capable 4wd and with a lift kit and bigger tyres you will be able to get to some amazing places 👍😁
@@LowRangeNick cheers thanks for the reply
I had one they do ok but have to work twice as hard to get there , also hard to get off-road parts.
Any info on the recovery points in the front grille? keen on some for my 2.4 SWB SGV3
There's a member of the FB Australia Grand Vitara Page, Juliet Remfrey who has made up some - she's also a Journalist and has a commercial FB page.
is this the diesel model ?
It is the 2.4L 4 cylinder petrol model. Cheers

@@LowRangeNick Thank you
Was a spotter really necessary?
Hey Fester, as it says in the title it was his first time offroad ever. He asked to be spotted to learn what line and how much momentum and what gear etc. 😉 cheers
