- Definitely my all time favorite Group 5 car, the Zakspeed Capri is a 850kg race car featuring a Ford Cosworth BDA (modified by Zakspeed) 1.75-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine which in its last evolution was able to produce around 600hp at 9000 rpm and 482 Nm of torque at 6800 rpm. Enjoy it in action at the Nürburgring GP during the AvD Oldtimer GP weekend driven by Peter Mücke.

My top pick in projectcars 2. This car is a monster to drive, the moment boost kick it slingshots like its nothing!
Push the boost up to 100% adjust gearing ratio and you have nurburgring monster
The car is fairly terrifying to drive even in Project Cars.
It sounds so good in the game
It's also soooooo good in RaceRoom
Yeah it was fantastic. I kinda (just from a useable hp stand point) kinda prefer the 320 bmw group 5 car. In forza 7 if you do a drive train swap on one of the capris its gives you a race transmission so you can do better gear ratios with 6 gears or 4. Depending on how you tune.
Always remember reading about the Zakspeed Capri in car magazines back in the 70's and a photo of a truly mangled piston and con rod, that I think was extracted from the wall of the test bed room when the engine blew up.

Yes the hp per l is high but not f1 level high cuz those are close to 100hp per l but this is for sure impressive for 600hp out of a engine that small that actually most likely lives all season long

Think I read somewhere the Zakspeed 4 cylinder used in their F1 cars from 1985 to 1988 was loosely based on the Cosworth BDA used in this Capri.

Buddy of mine owned a 1980 capri with a 2L manual 5 speed about 15 years ago it was a bloody nice car cruising along straight roads at 200km..
While all the JDM cars were stuck on their limiters going 180.. also had a locked diff so would hook it out nicely hahah

Thats because its from that boxy turbo era, typical of 1970s and 1980s racecars. I think it raced from 1979-1982.

When I was a kid I had a huge photo poster of the US version of this (Mustang) with huge flames shooting out the exhaust...it was a cool poster. Wish I still had it.

The wing needs to be offset a low frond splitter needs to be added, a defuser
It had a full underbody venturi tunnel and skirts. Diffusers are also little venturi tunnels, but the car underfloor generally has to be flat these days so they start at the very rear.
The only thing with bigger flares was the pants of the 70's

Oscar Thorpe There were 2 divisions in DRM. This one ran with the 935’s in Division 1. It also ran in Div 2 with the 320’s and Montecarlos, but with the smaller 1.4 engine.
