In this episode of our Newbie Tank Build series, we'll review the readings from Jimmy's TDS meter and discuss how a newbie reefer can tell when it is time to change the membranes in your RODI unit. We'll also share some preventative maintenance tips as well as how to clean your mixing pump.

I just got my SA RODI today it can make 10 gallons in about 1 hr that’s bad ass! I had the BRS 75GPD with out the pump it did 3 gallons in 1 hr

I must have good tap water. TDS is 2 my RODI filters last 4 years or so

Add your salt to your water when the water is already up to temp....it will reduce that crust on your containers....but not totally ...

His membrane shouldn't be shot already. Should set him up with a 3-way ball valve to bypass the di canister that goes to the drain to flush his creep after every use.
I have a 180 and my membrane is 90%+ rejection going on 4 years. Same 100 tds coming in.

I used to clean/scrub my mixing tub every time until I switched salt brands. Now I don't have to do it as often

My incoming TDS averages 845-950. Make matters worse it’s treated with Chloramine. I burn through media like crazy.

I feel like Jimmy hasn't had this set up long enough for his membrane to be shot already. I would be checking for other issues.
