One run while playing as a moon druid, I was shifted into owlbear form and was using a colossus potion. I weighed 5,005kg. Friend grabbed me with telekinesis and chucked me at monster and it missed the saving throw. I hit it for 213 damage. Since then many things have died to a flying owlbear. Many people would also be surprised at how few creatures in the game are concerned about a cat running around placing explosives everywhere. Some more specifics on mage hand: They can punch enemies to break concentration, and I believe shove also can break it. They can use Fly, Shove AND attack all in the same turn. Additionally, enemies have a habit of attacking the mage hand when it's nearby, which is a wasted Action for them (or even wasting a spell). Now they just need to buff it so we can pickpocket people with it

      @cjnf11 Год назад +21

There's one thing to remember about it though. If you remove it from the prepared spell list of the caster the effect will end (same as with other persistent spells in general). So what is best to do here is get a hireling with this spell (I use my alchemist-build halfling hireling for that) and cast it on anybody you need. Then remove the hireling from the party to just chill at the camp.
Note: unfortunately doesn't work with concentration spells like Magic Weapon - removing the caster from the party ends the spell.

You can dip weapons in it, and the poison stays forever unless you get wet or take a long rest. And the wetness removes the poison only from your active equipped weapon.

Here's my tip: Feather Fall and Enhance Leap especially, but any other low level rituals like that, have them on Astarion as an Arcane Trickster rogue. Because you'll be primarily casting them outside of combat and they won't take up a spell slot. - That way you can keep your dedicated spellcasters damage oriented or give them the higher level utility spells. - Alternatively use Astarion for setups, like casting Grease before you throw a fire spell with a different character.
Also remember you can have Aid and Longstrider cast on your party by hirelings that you leave at camp, and the benefits will persist. - Keep some buff bots in camp like that to keep those spells on your crowd. - And cycle your party members, folks. - If Karlach took a beating and is down to 3 HP, don't rest for just her sake, send her to camp and bring Lae'Zel for a fight, use her superiority dice. - Gale used up his spell slots? Swap him out for Shadowheart or Wyll.
    Lastly, "Retreat" is OP AF.
Devil you can fight in act 2 for example? Sneak up to him, lay down some barrels of smoke powder and some explosive bombs, send ALL your party members to camp. - ungroup, bring only Astarion back with Haste to shoot a fire arrow to ignite the thing, then using the surprise round have him cunning action dash, normal action dash, run away to be way out of enemy range and retreat to camp. - That will reset the aggro and you can sneak back in to plant more barrels to deal with more enemies. - Also know what will and will not ignite, and try out some combos. - If you hit a smoke powder barrel in the middle of some firewine barrels, the force damage won't ignite the firewine barrel, but throwing a fire bolt on the firewine barrel in-between smoke powder barrels will, and it will deal more damage. - And exploding a firewine or oil barrel deals a portion of force damage when it explodes, too, but smashing it and setting the contents on fire won't, so remember that as well when stacking explosions like that.

List of spells for your designated buff hirelings:
      -Aid
-Longstrider (easily the best of them all imo)
      -Darkvision
      -Death Ward
      -Protection from Poison
-Thoroughly Stuffed (late game but super strong, whole party is immune to poison and frightened...makes Protection from Poison obsolete and even if you have a Cleric in your party having someone in camp cast it saves them from using a precious lvl6 Spell Slot on it)
-Freedom of Movement (can't be paralyzed or restrained)
-Transmuter's Stone (advantage on constitution saving throws or even better a 2nd Longstrider for one party member)
-Warding Bond (don't forget to pick up your hireling when you enter camp before he dies)
-Goodberries (Jaheira has that one for me, so I use ALL her Spell Slots on giving me like a 100 of them)
and lastly, have the Drakethroat Glave ready before setting out (in camp or just in your inventory),
-Draconic Elemental Weapon: gives one weapon in your party +1 Attack Roll and a +D4 of additional elemental damage of your choosing...put it on a character other than you want to buff and be sure the one you want to buff has the right weapon out (so many times I accidentally cast it on my crossbow instead of the melee weapon and then I'm stuck with it until the next Long Rest)
Unless you're struggling on tactician I don't recommend going through ALL of them EVERY new day, but some of them I don't want to live without anymore (Longstrider especially)...one Cleric casting Thorougly Stuffed(lvl6) and Aid (highest level available) on your whole party (grouping them in camp can be annoying but not that much honestly), Warding Bond on your most important party member and Freedom of Movement on every party member. And a Transmuter Wizard casting Transmuter Stone on one person and then Longstrider and Darkvision on every party member. My third hireling is a bard just in case I want a 3rd short rest

With Light you can just cast it on a melee person and it puts it on the weapon they are holding, which would work pretty much the same for a ranged character to see in the dark.
Find Familiar is a ritual spell, so it should not be using a spell slot to cast in the first place.
You can also use "Dip" on Flaming Sphere, and I think that's hilarious.
For Featherfall, there are boots in Act 1 that let you cast AoE Featherfall as well and it doesnt have a long/short rest limitation so you can always swap to the boots and then use the spell and swap back. One of the best items in the game lol.

This is probably a bug and likely will be patched eventually, but I tested it yesterday and it still works. Warding bond can be applied to your whole party, and if you dismiss the caster and make them wait at camp, it doesn't go away. Shadowheart will eventually die in camp if you do this, but for some reason Gale doesnt?? So you can just have a permanent Warding Bond without worrying about the caster dying.

List of spells for your designated buff hirelings (buff spells that remain until Long Rest without concentration):
-Goodberries (Jaheira has that one for me, so I use ALL her Spell Slots on giving me like a 100 of them)
Other spells that last until Long Rest but can only be cast on self (if your player character doesn't have them I recommend buying scrolls of them whenever you can):
    -talk with animals
-speak with the dead (can be infinitely recast until long rest...but should be cast as soon as possible after you leave camp because it will highlight every corpse that has information in a green outline)
-and whoever has speak with the dead should also have disguise ready...the majority of corpses won't talk to you without it
and lastly, have the Drakethroat Glave ready before setting out (in camp or just in your inventory),
-Draconic Elemental Weapon: gives one weapon in your party +1 Attack Roll and a +D4 of additional elemental damage of your choosing...put it on a character other than you want to buff and be sure the one you want to buff has the right weapon out (so many times I accidentally cast it on my crossbow instead of the melee weapon and then I'm stuck with it until the next Long Rest)
My third hireling is a bard just in case I want a 3rd short rest. And my player character has a scroll of Talk to Animals for breakfast every day

Get the Hamarhraft maul (the one that can deal 1d4 thunder damage upon landing). Then, get the ability to Fly from becoming half-Illithid. Now, when the thunder damage is toggled on, whenever you end a flight using the Fly command (which isn't a spell at this point, and uses your movement) it deals the 1d4 thunder damage. Since it doesn't use an action or bonus action, you can keep repeatedly flying back and forth around enemies during your turn, dealing 1d4 thunder damage every time you stop, over and over again until you run out of movement. So after you use your action/bonus action to deal the bulk of your damage to an enemy, you can basically continue to damage them over and over again. And since it is a 3m AoE thunder attack, you can really wear down groups of tightly grouped enemies. Your companions might get bored watching you fly back and forth, but you can't argue with success.

Feather Fall is nice, but it's not very exciting by itself. Its true purpose is to protect players that are using Enhance Leap, which is 𝑎𝑙𝑠𝑜 a cantrip, and which makes speedruns faster, makes reaching other locations easier, and makes the game 𝑚𝑢𝑐ℎ more fun.

Here's how to get 6 attacks at level 4 with an assassin rogue and 1 feat.
Oh and 4 of those attacks will be guaranteed critical sneak attacks.
The best feat for assassin rogues is Great Weapon Master.
Why GWM when they don't have proficiency in heavy weapons, you ask?
Well, the first part of GWP gives you an attack with your bonus action whenever you crit, and is NOT tied to weapon weight.
When you couple this with the assassin trait where they automatically crit against any enemy that hasn't taken a turn yet....
Well, now you have astarion who can open up combat with a critical sneak attack, and then immediately follow it up with a bonus, full weapon attack on the same turn.
Then, surprise round is over, and if Astarion has higher initiative (which he absolutely should if you built him right), he gets to immediately do that all AGAIN.
We're talking 2 rounds of guaranteed, critical sneak attack WITH two rounds of bonus attack before the enemy even knows what hit them.
Oh, and if you're really worried, quaff a quick little potion of speed before combat and... yeah. Now you're looking at 4 sneak attacks and 2 bonus attacks (potion of speed doesnt give extra bonus actions).
So, at level 4, you're looking at potentially SIX attacks, four if which are guaranteed crit sneak attacks before the enemy even gets a turn!
I've had Astarion absolutely level enemies I had NO business tangling with using this combo.
It's honestly so stupid, STUPID good, I've had a hard time testing attacks 3-6 because... I cant find enemies in Act 1 that can survive it.
Maybe that level 10 red dragon, but that might be pushing it.... lol
