So Brody and Hollys head teacher is retiring after 34 years this week and I created this cake for her as a thank you gift. She is so quirky and loves anything designer so a Christian Louboutin cake seemed like a great shoe cake idea for her! I had a look online and the best way to make a shoe cake topper seemed to be by using a high heel cake kit so off I went and purchased one online.
I constructed the stilletto cake topper a few days before I made the shoe box cake so it would be firm and dry (though the weather was unusually warm here so it could have done with a lot longer!) I used the Ultimate Sugar Shoe kit and I was so pleased with how it turned out. (link to purchase this kit below) Its summer here so I didnt want to go for the usual black Christian Louboutin shoe cake design so I opted for a nice peachy pink open toe high heel cake and it was so refreshing! In this tutorial you will see how I decorated the christian louboutin shoe cake topper with a sugar bow and edible broaches.
To create the shoe box cake I used 3 9x5 inch cakes. I iced them in buttercream and covered them in fondant icing. I got a christian Louboutin logo printed onto some edible paper and used edible glue to stick on to the shoe box cake. I then finished off the design with some sugar flowers! I'm so jealous..,your shoe kit is what mine should have been. 😄 I have to use a paper template to cut out my soles, toe and heel straps. My particular kit sells the shoe cutters separately. What a sneaky way for them to make money.
Wow thank you Silverteacakes that means a lot! Thats crazy the templates for your kit are made out of paper especially considering how much it cost! Cake decorating supplies are so expensive you hope they will last a long time I cant see how they think anyone could get longevity out of a paper template! Im looking forward to seeing more of your work :)
How To Make This Cake supplies are terribly expensive. A lot of times you only use the supplies once or twice. I try to get clever and think outside the box before purchasing cake supplies. At the same time, cake supplies are an mild obsession. 😄 Keep up the lovely videos!
