Very informative and as always the Truth finds light. I am part Chippewa Indigenous from Michigan United States. My Grand son and I listen to this beautiful chant.
Evangeline, thank you with all my heart for this a capella version. I love so much the beauty and authenticity of this tribal singing while it is difficult to listen to only only with mixed "modern" version. I was searching for this pure version, my dream came true! This is astonishing!
one of my favourite song.. especially this chanting.. i always sing it automatically and suddenly when it comes to mind while driving, chatting, or running.. now imma use this while running ultra trail..it gives me strength 💪🔥
Thank you for posting this, I always liked the song "Return to Innocense" (altough I like the version of Bizimkiler much better than the one of Enigma). I must admit I had no idea of the origin of this song and the story behind it!
Thank you so much for making this. So moving and it made me cry. Have to share this with my friends as most of them are not Taiwanese but I am (just takes me forever to type in Chinese). Super proud to be Taiwanese and have native blood in the family..my older cousins say so and are trying to work out the link but I've always felt the sense of belonging as a kid, another example of colonisation and disconnection with culture
I learned that many Aboriginal Taiwanese tribes that did not move to the mountains were Sinicized (culturally converted to Chinese) and lost their root...
@@EvangelineDai Interestingly both my parents' families came from Puli, the only place that's not on the coast line. My uncles (mum's brothers) were dark and big, like the Maori in New Zealand and you know what they say about the DNA between Taiwanese Aboriginal people and the Maori ... close cousins!
All it takes is curiosity.🤷🏻♀️ 🤔I was curious about the meaning of this uplifting chant. 🤨Come to find out it's NOT Native American, and the Taiwanese people that recorded the song were ripped off, but were later vindicated with royalties and the credit they deserved. A happy ending!☺️
@@alcyon2sp the version I uploaded did not have any instruments, I think this was 1998 version, while they were dealing with the law sue, a Taiwanese company recorded and released this version. This song's history could be hundreds years old or more. No written records are known, they had oral traditions.
@@EvangelineDai its feels like it's very ancient and sings to the soul. Thank you for putting this up!! it's a release song for your pain I think... at least that's what I feel.
Still shocked that enigma played this off as Native American, then tried to prevent rightful artists or credit and took years to be sued into doing the right thing … beautiful song
Too bad this song was spoiled by too much negative comments on the video on Enigma. Although it shows the background of what happened, still the innocence of the voices were ruined by too much explanation. Had it not been for the Enigma, this wonderful piece would not have attracted attention by millions. Talent is a good thing, but unless it's patronized by "colonizers" or the worldly-wise benefactors, it comes to oblivion. The true innocence is not to over-explain something, no matter there are undesirable elements in it.
I cry every time I listen to Duanas. Almost 20 years passed since world lost them. Thank you!
Been looking for the origin of this song for ages. Finally glad to acknowledge the true creators. This is such a beautiful chant. Thank you

Astonishing use of the voice.
Góod people glad to see credit was given to this beautiful tribal chant that lifts the spirits to another higher level of good positive energy,👍✌️🙏😔
As a kid when this came out, I thought it was created in collaboration with indigenous people. Than you so much for sharing this.

Beautiful and soul wrenching. Close your eyes and it reaches so deep.
Thank you for this. Yes, decolonized version indeed. Hopefully they got their deserved amount when they settled out-of-court.

Thank you for this. I will share this info on my channel. I love this song and always wondered who they took the vocals from.

Is the original 1988 version recorded in france ?
Thank you for asking. No, this is another version recorded in Taiwan. I did not find the 1988 version.
@@EvangelineDai yes the beat on this one sounds 90s. I think the 1988 one has no electronic instruments.
