Govt salaries need to be increased. Bonus system similar to corporate needs to be implemented.
Good step, you can't bring reforms in DRDO unless you remove the mentality of "sarkari Naukri" in DRDO.
In my opinion the mentality of "sarkari naukri" needs to be removed from everywhere. Government funded jobs give security, but people shouldn't use that as an excuse for not working efficiently.

Drdo couldn't develop one tank (Arjun) in 30 years, took 30 years to take first flight of Tejas aircraft. Big reforms are necessary in Drdo to take India's defence industry further. If Drdo performs better it will not only make india stronger but also will help to create millions of job with the help of private defence industry.

Great decision! It's high time for India to become a research oriented nation like US and Europe... The talent in India is second to none but the Chalta hai (it goes like this) attitude in Indian bureaucracy must go... Kudos to PM for do away this attitude in PMO and in other government institutions to make India a numero Uno country in the world...

Great step by the Indian government. I recall being criticized by people in the comment section on a video when I criticized DRDO. DRDO is nothing but an SBI branch where there is no accountability on the projects. A simple example was given here in this video where tejas was delayed by 30 years. It was high time that somebody took some firm actions against DRDO

If sbi fails, we have other banks, but this is a matter of national security no one affords DRDO to fail.
I know few people who had worked with DRDO and they had told the stories of DRDO during UPA rule and the mindset of slow progress. They might ve very few scientists who were actually during substantial work otherwise the condition was like BSNL etc.
If we want to progress and be at par with Global Giants and Future Giants , then we need to change and become agile. So , this is definitely a bold step which might be painful as pf now but it will be beneficial in long term.
Reservation is the biggest threat to India’s talent pool

Without any talent, move up in higher positions very fast.

Reservation sab jagah hai, ambedkar ji did quite the work on making india handicapped par kya hi kehe sakta hu, Bheem ki Shakti Dhoom machae talent and skills kuch na kar paye

Just check CapEx to RevEx ratio during his tenure. Check CPI inflation during his tenures. Check the vulnerability & liquidity crisis of banks during his tenure.

Difference hain ki DARPA mein DRDO ke 10 percent bhi staff nahi hain. Waha srif scientists hain aur koi faltu ke staff joh sarakari naukri ke naam pe nahi ghusa huwa hain.
DARPA ka level of development aur DRDO ka development mein zameen asman ka difference hain.

1. All media claim has been denied by the chairperson of committe its self 2. When it comes to strategic sys u need praise same drdo, so that means project under pmo has gain huge success , but when their involment of babus then u get not desirable result 3. accountability is imp , but why not abut babus who hold project , why not abut mod 4 when it come to ISRO, BARC they able to get good result all bcz then are under pmo ( less babus exposer ) , but when oragnisation like drdo is run under such bureaucratic sys u going get same result
BARC is much useless than DRDO
HAL ko bhi ultimatum dena chahiye. Na production bada raha hai, R&D ka bhi halat susth hai, working ratio bhi kharab hai aur har project ko delay kar dega ya to project cost ko unusually bada dega.

I suggest, body should lead by IIT's for research & body comprised of Defence & private entrepreneurs for targets & realization under the GOI. Will give time bound results.
Not IIT but IISc Bangalore, ISRO is filled with phds from IISc Bangalore
You can not be a engineer or researcher by reading books.Indian govt. Must fund students for two to three years so that they may show projects by their own.India immediately need huge research on harware technology. IAS and IPS people do not have capacity to make India comparable to that of US or France.DRDO must work like "CERN" , "McLaren " , "Boeing" etc. It can't improve if it does work like another govt. Organusation. AND software is not the future,it is the electronics and automation and sensors are future.

If indigenous production is hived off to pvt sector
Then there is a high possibility of pvt sector collaboration with international players to manufacture out of date/ old tech and pressurising govt through political parties to buy the stuff that it makes

I have worked with them. I know for sure of one of the armed forces of India who has watered down their specifications to encourage DRDO and induct indigenous Equipment.
PMO should not force their thoughts on DRDO. Let DRDO operate independently.
