I would love to have the cash to drop on a dual cab Landcruiser however it is way over my budget. I bought a brand new Mahindra Pik Up dual cab with alloy tray and steel winch compatible bullbar instead and after 20,000 km's I am still smiling. No issues, cheap on fuel and great offroad (Eatons Mechanical Auto Locker in the rear as standard). They are down on power compared to any other modern big name 4wd however it still keeps up with traffic and will sit on any speed limit in Australia with no worries. Basically it comes down to money. If I could afford $70k + for a vehicle, I would own a Dual Cab Landcruiser, but I could buy 2.5 of the Mahindra Pik Up (with Alloy Tray and Bullbar already fitted) for the same price as an optioned but still stock 79 Series. Only time will tell about reliability in the long run but I was willing to take the gamble and so far its been great :-)
U did right decision as they are from Willys tradition. It is only jeep in India, other brands even Jeep failed to compete them in India. It is conquering sough america etc. It is not the money u waste on other brands, consider cheap service, spare parts, milage etc too. I have no complaint with Mahidnra jeep. My grand father had one. I am using XUV 500 and very satisfied. ANSEWR IS SIMPLE AS Chevrolet said, India's suppleir base. They tested components from thousands of suppliers and reached perfect mileage.
It is very common in India and competing with other brands in one of world's most competitive market (india). Philipine police brought recently 150 and it passed all tests. It passed all tests of many polices of Chile, italy, south africa etc. It is almost no.1 in central america . It is no.1 jeep in India for nearly a century. It is most customer satisfied brand in south america. It has most rated for value of money in south africa. They are world no.1 tractor manufacturer. It is 100% reliable and value for money as no major complaint. ruclips.net/video/yNMArU5qUNk/видео.html my village and my neighbor using XUV 500 brought two months back and he is very happy. My father using mahindra jeep for decades now.
Indian are kings when it comes to frugal engineering and believe me Indian products are worth every penny you pay and lot lot lot more durable then Chinese junk ...
70K $, for a pick up, some one must eat shit to price it like that. Out off there minds the Toyota Co's are. Get the Rhino Mahindra and forget it, cost 1/2 the Toyota and still will do the 90% of the job. TH
Cheverlot winded up India sales said office work is done at US office and production cost is high and cannot reduce price. We export mostly to Latin America from India and cannot move production to LA because no country offers the GREAT SUPPLIER BASE like India. We tested components from thousands of suppliers and all very good including gear box, filter etc etc and reached a mileage of 25 km by testing components for years. If we produce it anywhere, the mileage may be 20 and cost of production will be high as NO COMPETITION among suppliers. India exports cars 40% to Latin and Central America. Few to EU and Africa mostly to UK, Algeria etc. Least to West Asia, Central Asia or South East Asia!!!! Suzuki started operation from 1980 and now has Hyundai, Ford, BMW, GM, Volswagen, Lamborgini, Toyota, Audi, SAIC, Chery, Jaguar etc etc. Dislikers can buy costly cars and waste money as Indian cars are worth money but do not make bad comments as no one will believe it as sales doubling in South America after 5 years of operation.
great ape - I understand the skepticism .. please drive one and you’ll understand why so many people think highly of a Mahindra .. they are not some random obscure Chinese company that makes knockoffs with poor quality and terrible names (landwind) etc.. mahindra makes high quality, value for money vehicles
Landcruiser has solid axles front and rear and a heap of torque. Not much goes better off road. Plus its not an F-truck so it'll get through tight sections
It is under rated and it can go because of size etc. It is only jeep in india and other brands failed to do anything against it in India as tey are from Wilys tradition. Chevrolet quitting India said they made great mistake coming to INdia late as No country has THE GREAT SUPPLIERS like in India. They tested components from thousands of suppliers and all reliable and reached perfect mileage etc. No wonder other brands cannot compete with Mahindra who are first in India with good supplier base.
I used to work as a design engineer in Mahindra. They might not make beautiful or stunning products for the eyes, but I can vouch that they make things that last. Tough and compact.
I'm a Cruiser lover. But really it's not worth the money. We always joke and ask "Why do Toyota build a double cab Cruiser? So that other people can feel how shitty they drive". I start to get respect for these Mahindra's as no one owning one ever complains about them.
Love Toyota's but I just can't afford a new one. I can afford a new Mahindra and I like the engineering behind it. I presume the engineers listened to what farmers wanted
Mahindra pick-up trucks are very popular here in India. Seen them everywhere. They are also in Nepal, Uttarkhand and Himachal Pradesh. Please watch videos of Mahindra Bolero in himachal pardesh, Uttarkhand etc
@@visalakshimahadevan612 what do you mean by also in Uttarakhand and Himachal ? both these states are part of India. No need to mention them separately.
Didn't mention in cabin comfort or room. the cruiser is cramped for a car of its size and even worse for passengers (I use to have one).. the mahindra kills it for passenger space, comfort and general ergonomics. which is why the cabin looks funny from the outside.
You are wrong!the Toyota looks much better than the Scorpio and even I have a Scorpio,I can't even move my self in my truck ,whereas I have taken ride in many land cruiser safari trucks, they are so spacious at the front row which includes also the driver's seat ,but both are good looking and robust to be honest but the land cruiser is something at next level
I owned a 2012 mahindra scorpio mhawk...bloody good engine. Very smooth, reliable, cheap on gas....love it. Mahindra did something good. The only change I want to see is its looks...otherwise good brand
Guys, Next video please go easy on the background music. It is very loud and can't hear what you guys are saying. It is distracting. But good short video.
The Mahindra is amazing for what you're paying. Most of the people here are giving it shit without even trying it. Of course the Toyota will kick but. But you're better of with Mahindra than a holden or ford; I can guarantee you that. It's either Japanese, Indian or German if you want something that'll last.
Singamanikandan T. Thevar ,so you think your pride will work, even I am an Indian, but you should better respect for trucks,I am a truck enthusiast in Sweden and have a lot of experience with 4x4s,and stop bullshiting that Mahindra is better than ford, after all they make the best trucks all time ,like the ford ranger and bronco with a reliability and durability which is as good as a Japanese truck and also the best gas millage, that is why I can find a Chevy blazer and ford bronco last at right conditions whereas I have seen in India many Mahindra jeep trucks are rusting to grave junk, also ford has the history of making the most reliable sports cars like ford gt
Let's not be biased. Both are equally reliable and tough. Both are made with quality. But the land cruiser 79 is being judged for being too expensive. Well what else can you expect from something that offers a diesel V8, electronically operated diff locks both for front and rear axle, 6 airbags to maintain 5 stars ANCAP, solid front axle with coilovers and dual suspension arms, a driveline which can handle even 1000nm,etc? See what you have in the mahindra pikup, an eaton mechanical rear diff lock, a 2.2l diesel 4 banger, a gearbox with a torque capacity of only 320nm, a normal IFS, only 2 airbags, etc? Try the same on the mahindra and the mahindra too would cost 70k. After all there was a time when you could get a 70 series at the price of a mahindra pikup. PEACE.
Mahindra are for those who want a very very safe bet on their investment. For the money spent you can never go wrong with a Mahindra. Likewise the Maruti (Suzuki) alliance in India which rules the market. Mahindra has reliable workhorse image and are easy fixes. Tested to work in extreme environments. Toyotas loot customers even in India. But yes Toyotas are known for superb reliability, but value wise Mahindras supersede everything else in market. Other super value proposition company are the Tata and their products.
The western even when impressed by something made in India are very miser in praise... Not bad afterall for the money you pay ... Instead of excellent value for money, does what it is expected to do instead of performs well..

I’m an Indian Australian living in WA from last 10 years just want to mention one thing ….. Mahindra is number one choice in rural, sandy, and mountain areas there and you don’t need to off roads for off roading in India 😃😃
Lol, you should check indian road in recent before commenting something rubbish...india is constructing 37 days highway per day, and the speed of constructing is still increasing.
I would like to know how many of these Mahindra reviews from QLD are actually paid promotions. Either cash or in kind. Also, Aussies are very suspicious. Remember Hyundai, Kia even Honda cars, no one would go near them at the beginning. Mahindra is a huge engineering conglomerate, but not well known here, but they were known as buying out Gipps Aero and pinching their ideas to kick start the Mahindra venture into Aviation. Mmahindra have a track record of buying up smaller successful companies to shortcut their path to technologies. India is not some backwater any more, they are like Korea Japan China in their early days of entering the western market. Honestly, Mahindra is no worse than Holden ever was. Their market is HUGE and if their product was no good, they would not be selling them in the numbers they do in India. All Mahindra lacks is a decent warranty and dealer network. Give them 5 years. Also, there are second hand Mahindras coming onto the Aussie market with 300,000 on the clock, so we should stop being sheep and give them a go. In my humble opinion.
Atleast we indians got our own industry rather than copying cheverlot designs. Well not just car industry we got our own motorbike industry which is growing bigger. Look at the amount of aussies who buy holden andnow compare that to indians buying indian brand cars like tata, mahindra and even the new startup company DC
dude it's Chevrolet which is actually copying the Holden's anger other Australian vehicles... Did you know that the Camaro chassis was designed by Holden engineers
I don't have the cash for a Landcruiser, so i thought this mahindra, in cab chassis form, might be ok. I'll be taking to some dirt roads, but not really interested in the heavy stuff.
People bag them but based on cost alone, it's a good little option. Hopefully I can get one. Just don't know if I should hold until the new ute arrives... That's the harder decision to make...
We had a similar Mahindra pickup selling in India a few years ago.Was called the Getaway. Some humble observations 1) Outstanding engine and generally quite realiable. 2) Had an IFS, so probably not as maintainance free as an old school solid front axle. 3) Rather affordable compared to similar offerings from Japanese automakers. Affordability is a key parameter for many..everything starts there. 4) Though mehanical manufacturing processes and tolerances may be world class, the quality of the metal, bearings, ball joints etc may be a notch lower than the Toyota. Therefore, Longevity when used in identical conditions may be less. We usually get what we pay for. 5) Classic Landcruser looks are hard to beat. Though the degree of importance one gives to that aspect is a personal choice.
Mahindra seriously needs to look at overseas market as an opportunity outside India. Not just for their 4x4s and SUVs but also their tractors. Of course, Australia is a huge market for its vehicles but needs to push in America and Canada.
Mahindra is very high quality, double mileage and less service costs, limited other costs. It's excellent choice for commercial truck vehicles. It's a very high quality vehicle and it's made for US market. Those who want to buy this might be working and making money. But here you save money too. Don't waste extra on Toyota they are charging you high
Im sure the mahindra is not as bad as most people assume but how biased is this review. Comparing them based on which as better difflocks not mentioning once about the solid axle vs tortion bar ifs. I see so many car review bullshit websites slagging the lc off but its pretty clear thats only because Toyota doesnt put alot of money into marketing the lc to private buyers because most people know the lc is the king
New model of mahindra Ute have much more feature compare to this old model. Also land cruiser 79 is almost double price vehicle. Can toyota make in quality ute in similar price to mahindra.May be not. Toyota's reliability and low maintenance has been already paid through its higher price. WHO would buy a lemon at high price if its not good. I have seen and spent almost 20 years of my life in it. My dad and uncle with several mahindra vehicles. Mahindra used to be simple, low maintenance ,tough but very practical.
Look, if you see the full video they clearly mention the unorthodox-ness in the comparison. You cannot compare a 2 litre with a 5 litre engine in the first place. The video is kind of a pun intended and the cars aren't in the same playing field, even then no mahindra will give up in 4 years like you first mentioned.

I don't see by price,I see it by capabilities, durability and reliability, which every 4x4 deserves,so obviously I would take the Toyota but still I like both as I have both
Toyota would eat Mahindra for lunch in toughness and reliability. This is coming from an Indian. The only selling point Mahindra has is it does an above average job at the price it comes at.

Indians here. You don't need to swarm all these videos and leave comments. Let the Aussies and South Africans and everyone else figure if Mahindra is right for them, themselves. You are not helping Mahindra by swarming the comment section of all of these videos.
You are Right. Indian people are over enthusiastic. People in Australia, Canada and US must be allowed to figure it out for themselves. It's better to share the video than swarming it with comments. Because nobody around the world cares what people in India have to say about Indian vehicle.
I have bought the Mahindra brand new vehicle and even though Mahindra confirmed that my vehicle has got multiple defects they are still refusing to replace the vehicle .
Both are best. Mahindra is cheap, reliable and fuel efficient. Toyota is reliable but social drinker. Instead of these two I will prefer Isuzu dmax which is as reliable as Toyota and priced between Toyota and mahindra and powerful to do demanding work. Isuzu diesel engines are super reliable.
It has front independent suspension, its a completely different class... Compare it against the hilux, ranger etc. and you will find it is quite poor value.

Toyota best selling car, truck and sub around the World. It is more expensive because of decades of research and development., Without a doubt the most reliable motors which easily clock a.few times around the globe. I guess if you can't afford to for a heap unknown brand but I've never had good experiences with second grade goods, you get what you pay for.
How can you compare a Mahindra to a Toyota? Its like comparing a Ferrari to a bicycle... The price difference is about the same as well! This is getting ridiculous mate
allot of Mahindra fan boys/girls here. In the end it comes down to the fact that the landcruiser has a cult following for a reason, people know they are overpriced but they still buy them anyway. what does that tell you, people dont mind spending the money because they know what they are getting. A solid built 4wd with plenty of power, factory lockers, solid front axle and the aerodynamics of a brick, not to mention the resale value of the landcruisers is nearly 3 times the show room price XD. Dont complain because you cant afford one, just buy the mahindra and drive around the laughing stock of all 4wds.
I do agree ,even I own one Mahindra ! It sucks ! And actually you cannot get a good vehicle at a cheaper price ! Toyotas have given us everything:-reliability ,value for money ,after market value ,capability, etc ! And still most people are becoming cheap like Indians and becoming enthusiastic for the crap which you get at a less price ,just because it is cheap ! It is like comparing the Dodge Challenger with the BMW 6 series! The 6 series might be expensive, but it still makes us buy the BMW over the crap challenger !

SKT fan, lot of people in many countries are toiletless and slums in many countries like pakistan, bangladesh, phillippines etc. Infact slums are more in many countries than india. Difference is indians can boast of advancement and achievements in many fields because of their intelligence and hardworking. Indian economy is growing in all parameters and well ahead of other developing nations. one thing to mention is MAHINDRA SCORPIO SUV starts from 10 lacs to 16 lacs while land cruiser starts at 94 lacs up to 150 lacs.

Let's not be biased. Both are equally reliable and tough. Both are made with quality. But the land cruiser 79 is being judged for being too expensive. See what you have in the mahindra pikup, an eaton mechanical rear diff lock, a 2.2l diesel 4 banger, a gearbox with a torque capacity of only 320nm, a normal IFS, only 2 airbags, etc? Toyotas loot customers even in India. But yes Toyotas are known for superb reliability, but value wise Mahindras supersede everything else in market. Other super value proposition company are the Tata and their products.
The Mahindra costs less initially, so even if after ten years you lose 80% of the puchase price , you have lost less in depreciation than the Toyota.

We had a similar Mahindra pickup selling in India a few years ago.Was called the Getaway.
Some humble observations
1) Outstanding engine and generally quite realiable.
Mahindra is the 4th or 3rd largest tractor seller in north America 😂

We were driving from perth to the snow capped ridges!I was driving the land cruiser and my friend ,the mahindra, But you see ,the mahindra still suffered clutch related issues while climbing rocks ans crossing slush! It was still repairable and we did fix it! Also while climbing rocks,it struggled ,wheel travel was poor even after modification! But i liked the truck ,it is nice ! I love other vehicles from mahindra like the mahindra classic! But we have to agree that toyota still makes better vehicles! But the mahindra is still reliable, and is a bang for a buck ! Love both the trucks, peace!
just buy a dmax its alot better with nicer interiors, bigger tray, better looks, bigger engine, higher towing capacity etc thats probs where the price is at and what the mahindra doesnt JAPAN #1!!!!!
Mahindra must increased its price tag..if you delivery better product than competitor ..you must increase your value.. Good product deserve good price... #mahindra
Mahindra very popular in India, if its tested on Indian roads.....ITS GOOD
Music ruined the video. Couldn't hear a thing clearly.
Little Indian friend ? Yet to drive a homegrown Australian car of any sort, specially one that still exists.
How can you compare a Mahindra to a Toyota? Its like comparing a Ferrari to a bicycle...
The price difference is about the same as well!
This is getting ridiculous mate
Mahindra is like a Bicycle? Your comment is more ridiculous than the video. I'm sorry.
U r dumb 🤣🤣🤣
allot of Mahindra fan boys/girls here.
Dude wtf
We have the same pic as our profile piv
I do agree ,even I own one Mahindra ! It sucks ! And actually you cannot get a good vehicle at a cheaper price ! Toyotas have given us everything:-reliability ,value for money ,after market value ,capability, etc ! And still most people are becoming cheap like Indians and becoming enthusiastic for the crap which you get at a less price ,just because it is cheap ! It is like comparing the Dodge Challenger with the BMW 6 series! The 6 series might be expensive, but it still makes us buy the BMW over the crap challenger !
@@Countrysideboy247In that case it is better to buy volvo high power 10 wheeled truck than this toyota. Much more reliable and powerful. Will that really make any sense spending that much money? It is not about what one is purchasing but about real affordability and not mere show off.
Pabitra Sen shut up ! First of all you Indians are not at all into such activities like off-roading! Have you ever owned any land cruiser ? Because land cruisers are not even produced in your country! Do you know about the Pakistanis ? They buy Toyotas because they are reliable, robust and can last even more than 450,000 miles ! Just convert that to the metric system! And don't think them to be stupid buying expensive things ! They can even buy a Range Rover evoque by saving a little more ! But they have something known as common sense ,so they buy something as reliable as a Toyota! And just stop underestimating Toyotas! They have made one of the greatest cars ! Like the supra ! What has Mahindra done ? Just made some ugly licenced version of the jeep cj3b with 50hp tractor engine ? And stop behaving like an idiot! It is hard to get any car below the price which you can expect ! Covert the average price to Indian rupees ! Might be like in your country 25 lakhs ! Damn ,many people in India are buying cars of that price ! Like the ford Everest (Endeavour) ! And if you are really into buying something cheap, then it is the Suzuki sj413 (Gypsy) !
I will take the link cruise thank you very much
As per cost mahindra is bst
These comments are just filled with die hard mahindra owners
If a vehicle has low price and low maintenance and perform well then what's the matter ? ....if anybody wants to save money
I don't mind spending a lot in a Toyota, because Toyota is still always good even if it is a second hand
U can buy it but we will buy mahindra
Sunil Ipe ,oh I guess you support all those morons like baba Ramdev, who uses the crap Scorpio! Abhe chup re chutiya!
Mahindra engines are perfect

MAHINDRA RISE.... I LOVE MY INDIA 🇮🇳
I'll take the Toyota. .....thank you very much.

Land cruiser são forte de guerreiro aqui na africa não é para carros como mahindra não é carros confortáveis duradouro é land cruiser..
Both are second to non in their own worlds
Cannot see a differance it is the same vehicle.
Landcruisers are overated!
I've owned a couple and driven alot if them for work
Their price tags are outta this world! Mahindra can keep up with the best of them. Bang for your buck I say
