Please react to Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas TikTok, a truly beautiful rendition with a”bye” at the end that makes it all ever so much better.
Great review. I have listen to this before and I liked it , but when you show the details it changes how I see the song and now notice the details you focus on as I have not notice at that level before and appreciate the suttle ranges she displays . Awesome!!
Angelina often brings images to mind and I imagine myself, listening to this song, while laying in a field somewhere, gazing up to the blue sky, and contemplating life. Angelina helps me maintain a positive outlook and a desire to share that positivity.
The best way of thinking about Life is to agree with her. At several Interviews she offers to send Love to the world. A very fundamental own written Song at the Age of 11y, crazy. You can find it on her first Album with the amazing big band from Norway.. it's Magic 🌟
---- The piano player is Dylan Meeks who is considered one of the best young jazz pianists in the US plus does songwriting and some producing ---- Dylan is originally from Texas and has lived in Boston, LA and NYC (where he presently resides and plays with his 17-piece funk band Wet Velvet and various other artists) ---- Dylan was playing bass in the 7th Heaven music video ---- Ivan Mendez plays guitar who was born in Mexico, later moving to California ---- Ivan is the second of the two primary accompanists Angelina used to do her cover songs before she signed with Republic Records in August 2020 ---- Ivan was interview by super Angelina fan Alan Papier who published a video of the interview on his channel where Ivan said that Angelina usually performed the covers in one take where if a second take was required it usually was because he had made a mistake
I love this song. The run on the 1st "good" at the end, sets you up for the absolutely insane 2nd run!!! Note to vocalists covering this song: "Good luck with the ending!" Actually, now that I think about it, there are a lot of endings of her songs that will be a real challenge for cover artists in the future.
Jesse, Angelina was 11 when she wrote this and is performing at 12 here. It is her very first original and we experience her beautiful life through her eyes as a relative child. What is more incredible about it though is that she also conveys adult wisdom about life as she goes on, knowing that life is both good and bad. A warm embrace from someone safe gets me every time. Her genius is on display here. Best to you and your family on the holidays.
Thanks for the thanks. Her verse about her little sister, Juliette (6 yrs younger), being the love of her life, is very touching. There are lots of opportunities to watch Angelina with Juliette from a very young age to the TikTok clips of today. The piano player also appears on one of the 7th Heaven music videos playing the bass. Then there's Ivan Mendez on guitar. There's an excellent video (2021) on RUclips where he's interviewed about his experiences with Angelina and her family. He shares how the family just hangs out during the day and then goes right into a one-take jam session in the evening.
Actually Angelina wrote this when she was 11 years old. This video was recorded when she turned 12. The guitar player is Ivan Mendez. He played with Angelina many times during her home videos when she moved to LA, basically when she was 12 and 13 years old. They are great together
The good and bad… Angelina is astoundingly mature. She already knows that there is both beauty and suffering, and she delivers her message about both all so beautifully, with the emphasis on the beauty.
Angelina wrote this at age eleven and sang it on her first album, It’s Magic, at age twelve. My favorite version is the lyric video of her singing it at age twelve. Check it out!
Very nice reaction Jesse, I adored her absolute tranquility and ease of singing and composing the story. I really love this song of hers, it's so simple, sweet and deep at the same time, perfect for her wonderful velvet voice, is stunning also for her profound lyrics, "...maybe life's a just a memory..."! She is absolutely unreal at only 12 years. 💛🧡❤
I believe this is her second song? I read that she wrote Oslo on the plane flying to or leaving Norway. All of her songs are about life’s observations. No lost loves or wild party songs to reflect on. This young lady has a fun sense of humor, but is an observer of people and the human experience.
This is one of my personal favourites. She has such a positive outlook and appreciation of what is good in her life at 11 years old. Don't mean to rub it in, but it's a balmy 98 degrees where I am.
@Len Gould G'day Len. That's a nasty looking weather system hitting you at the moment. But please spare a thought for me. I'm having to endure my second cup of coffee of the morning, sitting outside in nothing but a pair of shorts while watching the birds frolic in the birdbath. The sky is an amazing shade of blue and not a cloud in sight, and there's a gentle breeze that isbringing a faint scent of eucalypt from the surrounding trees. It's a hard life, but I cope with it the best I can. "Warm" regards from a very warm Western Australia. 🙂
I recommend reacting to her cd, It’s Magic. Recorded when she was 11. Mr. Lonely…Speak Softly Love…Oslo…What Is Life… Her voice is front and center, the music is background and she is amazing.
Angelina actually first sang this song at age 11 for her first full album It's Magic and has performed it in concert: ruclips.net/video/oop8XIFr3-w/видео.html
I have always loved that "bluebird" and you are the first reactor I've seen mention it. And the final run is a thing of beauty. Ella Fitzgerald would be impressed.
Thanks for noticing and pointing out the riffs. Sometimes she hides them in the vibrato. For those of us with lesser musical sensitivity, we know it sounds amazing but couldn’t explain why.
Hey Jesse! OMG! Your weather is worse than ours. Be safe. I love this. So meaningful. The long, long run on "good" while it ends on the word "bad." She's reaffirming life after losses of people near and dear to her (not just grandfather). I love what this shows about her not just as an artist, but also a human being answering the questions life itself raises. Life, Love, Loss, & Lies. We must all grapple with these at some point along the way while we're all walking each other home. Angelina truly brings a light that makes me just feel happy. Drive safely! Grandma Ellen, hunkering in for the warmth. 💜
@@103mrg , sure. Okay. Thank you. Remembering timelines has never been my strong suit. I'm better with the cause and effect sorting of history than the date lines. That's partly why I love the story-telling aspect of Angelina's singing. She causes each word to evoke more than can be put into words, so she tells stories attached to the story, if I can say it so clumsily.
@@lengould9262 , thank you, but it is borrowed. I think it was Ram Dass that said it?? But, yes, creative, which is why I borrowed it. Something I wish I had written myself.
Much has been made about how mature her voice is (and rightly so). But listen to the lyrics here. You have at once, a child talking about life is going to school, and at the same time someone much more seasoned, wondering if life is " a tear, thats stealthy in night". Just let that sit for a minute. What 6th grader thinks like this? And you are right, she not only gave a shout out to grandma literally, but figuratively was painting pictures with words the whole way through. I can't wait to see what she puts out on her upcoming album... BTW, very cool decor in your room, especially the SG...
This was the first song she wrote. She was 11 (possibly 10) when she wrote it. She's 11 here in the video. The second song was "Oslo," about her hometown, written also at 11. Oslo should probably adopt this as their city's anthem! Next was "Shield" (age 12), a tribute to her family for guiding and protecting her through her growth and her music career path. Then, "Million Miles" at age 14, which was her first recorded song through Republic Records in the fall of 2020. Then, "7th Heaven" at age 15, spring of 2021, very reflective & philosophical but jazzy and upbeat at the same time. Looking forward to hearing / learning her other originals when her album comes out mid-2023! Maybe sooner (?) if she & Republic choose to throw us a "T-bone steak" before the album's release!?
Thank you Jess, apologizes for my impatience. Glad you are feeling better and getting back into posting again. Angelina's view of life as a 12 year old is just beautiful, but again, she is the most humble, caring, sweet human being there is. That is here LA friend Ivan Mendez on the the guitar and on the Piano is Dylan Meeks, an accomplished musician and composer and also plays stand up bass in her '7th Heaven" music video she created. Cheers, and have a Merry Christmas.
Please don’t apologize, I wouldn’t ask for reminders if I couldn’t handle them 😂 great request my friend. Dylan and Ivan did a fantastic job and I thought this was a really cool video
It’s the same life philosophy as her later composition, Seventh Heaven. There’s good and bad in life, but embrace it all. Hard to believe the maturity in that outlook from someone so young. I also love (how could anyone not love) the ending phrase that she repeats even more beautifully the second time. She wrote that to show us what she can do with her voice, but you can also hear elements from singers generations ago. Loved the piano work, too. She’s a true gift.
Hey thanks!!! Trying to get used to dropping it in here or getting it in to a rhythm that works for everyone 😅 I really appreciate you taking the time to say something though
There was a reactor who complained about this song. He said she was singing too loud in the microphone, and the music was too low and badly played etc.. Instead of concentrate on the lyrics and her singing and her age here. He talked more about the two guys playing badly instead of thinking this isn't a pro studio recording. He wasn't very popular when the Angels commented his reaction. He was too much professional in his speech so it sounded stupid.
I have come to the opinion that nothing within Angelina’s singing is unintentional. I believe she chose that mic because others were losing in the recording what she heard live. I suspect that her acute sense of hearing must be beyond what everyone else can hear.
There has never been before and there will never be again anyone like Angelina Jordan!!!! Heaven broke the mold after she popped out.
"A warm embrace from someone safe" is exactly how I feel about Angelina's singing.
Who would have thought sharing your wonder and awe with others would be so SOUL enriching. Angelina is spiritual elixir.
The Queen of Jazz & Blues at age 11!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's Dylan Meek at the piano, Grammy winner, and Ivan Mendez on the strings.
Dylan Merk is also playing the bas on Sewenth Heaven
That song and that last run....genius......12 years old......cant get my head around it...An amazing talent...great to see.
Awesome reaction and yes, hard to believe the Talent of this young girl, God Bless!

This is still my favorite original song so far from Angelina. Her voice is just unbelievably gorgeous here.
It’s so goo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-ooommm!
Take a look of a short video of Angelina Jordan signing in Japanese her maternal grandfather “Like arrived Flows”❤🦶👑❤️🎶

When she’s singing this song a feeling of peacefulness wash’s over me. It’s like liquid joy or a warmth if a fire on a cool night watching the sunset.
