I can remember just prior to WW2 going with my dad in his '39 Ford pick-up to a facility almost like this. He would load a half ton of coal and then shovel through the basement window into the coal bunker...hopefully not landing on his pre-war Lionel layout. I was only three, but remember this well.

Another beautiful structure. That really looks sharp. My aunt who lived on Barney St in Locust Point had a coal burning furnace well into the 1960s.
