    it seemed like farleigh was being a lil bitch to oliver when really he had him clocked from the very start. cuz game recognises game and they were both the outsiders fighting to be on the recieving end of the family's saviour complex

    • @lbougie
      @lbougie 5 месяцев назад +1

      Farleigh’s not an outsider and they’re not fighting for the home. Saltburn is Farleigh’s home, remember that. He protects it from Oliver’s clutches. Oliver wants a fabulous lifestyle Felix has when he was revealed to kill Felix and Saltburn became his next prized possession. Farleigh is fighting for his family’s safety to keep Oliver out of his home.
      Yes, game recognizes game, even Venetia joins Oliver’s game in the bathroom.

    Felix is not a good guy. He and his family are completely out of touch and they like to collect people who are underprivileged or poor for their entertainment and then kick them out. That’s why people were warning Oliver that Felix was using him. But ironically Oliver was using the family to live the life that he wants.

    We're living in an age of remakes, reboots and endless franchise sequels.... I loved seeing an original film, that you never knew where it was going to go next. This is what has become missing from movies lately and it was so refreshing to watch this.

    I think the scene with Oliver’s parents and how he always wanted to be an only child who never made any friends hints that he was a sociopath from the start. He may have been attracted to Felix but I think he wanted to be him moreso than date him. He crafted up the perfect person for them. The family liked their tragic lost souls to amuse them until they got bored (look at the way they treat Pamela - even after death). I think even all the exchanges of bodily fluid was a way to be one with the family. Have a bit of them in him. As for why no one countesses the will is that it may just be Farleigh and his mom left who are both kicked out of the family. Farleigh, because they think they he (unintentionally) killed Felix by supplying cocaine. I think even Farleigh himself thinks that maybe it was his fault.

    • @pobstrel
      @pobstrel 9 месяцев назад +3

      Agree. He was a sociopathic social climber. I wish they had made his parents working class and the house smaller and more humble to emphasise just how different a background he had.

    • @Matheus-zz5jz
      @Matheus-zz5jz 8 месяцев назад +2

      He just wanted to be more loved, a unconditional love, that's why he doesn't want to have sisters and why he killed Felix, he knows he won't be loved for who he is, but he tried when he was in the maze

    • @nataliajimenez1870
      @nataliajimenez1870 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@pobstrel I liked that they didn't make them poor. They had offered a supportive upbringing, even taking annual family vacations to Mykonos. But they were not as extravagantly rich as the Cattons which was what Oliver coveted

    • @lbougie
      @lbougie 5 месяцев назад +1

      Farleigh really thought he had killed Felix with cocaine.
      He didn’t remember what’s going on because of a hangover from the party.
      He was partially responsible because of the cocaine he used but he never killed him and that deeply regretted the cocaine.
      He snorted a small line on the outdoors of the house only and on the club only during the Midsummer Party, he didn’t snort with Felix.
      Using cocaine doesn’t mean he killed Felix.
      He knew that Oliver killed Felix with Champagne laced with cocaine, he knew Ollie has lacked his emotions and enjoyed his breakfast, he knew something horrible happened.
      Farleigh sensed right through Oliver.

    • @lbougie
      @lbougie 2 месяца назад +1

      @@daemonionx I do believe it but I don’t think it happened. After killing Felix, Oliver accepted for what he try to occupy the position upon his hatred to Felix. When he got the house 15 years later, most people thought he loved Felix even if he’s dead and then the whole family. Of course he loved Felix as a friend but he loved him in a painfully toxic way. If he hated them then yes he hated them and that’s the truth, Oliver is so so so done him and his family as he called it “quits” for his murderous reasons. They should understand sometimes of what Oliver said instead of what Emerald said. They can hint it back.
      What I believe that Oliver truly loved himself better than that and always fell in love with himself since he got what he deserved to the fullest.

    I went to Oxford as a visiting scholar for a year. The parts about Oxford are accurate as hell, the tutorial, the essays and reading lists. Formal attire for dinner every night wearing the sub fusc robes. They filmed it there too so it was like flashbacks for me watching it. They even mentioned the road, Iffley Rd where his tutorial was and that’s where mine was off of too.
    And also they saying they’re in the same college means they are in the same college under the big umbrella of Oxford University. It’s divided up by 39 colleges, 4 private permanent halls (PPHs) that make up Oxford University. When Oliver said to Felix, they were in the same college meant they had a closer connection than say another Oxford student in another college.

    Slightly off topic, but Barry Keoghan who plays Oliver is the next big thing I swear!! Besides the wild plot, it’s clear that Barry is a dedicated actor and cares seriously about his work. I saw in an interview how he carried 5 notebooks with him on the set of Saltburn to take notes on how he wanted to portray his character. Plus, in real life dealt with a drug addicted mother and he went through 13 different foster homes, the kid is resilient and brilliant as heck.❤

    This movie was so amazing. The part where Oliver tells felix that his dad died, and they went to the bridge to write his name on the stone and throw it in the river, it didn’t land in the river because his father was actually never dead (foreshadowing). I think that Oliver was in love with Felix and ultimately being rejected by him was his final straw and decided if he couldn’t have Felix then nobody could

      Also when ventia is speaking about the doppelgänger situation and how they walked past the window if you’re paying attention Felix actually walks past the window foreshadowing his death. Also in the lunch scene after Felix’s death ventia is overflowing her cup with red wine. Foreshadowing her death in the bathtub. This movie is so great and I’m sure there’s many other small hints I can’t wait to find.

    It's a masterpiece! Some things I would like to point out is when Oliver threw the rock of his dad it didn't go into the water because hes alive and felix was dressed up as an angel cause he's pure and because that foreshadowed his death, another thing is Oliver is dressed as a stag because stags are known to be pure but their antlers make them dangerous, so that also shows a wolf in sheeps clothing. (Just some thoughts and things I found out that were interesting).

    Killers think that to totally own somebody is to kill them. That's what Oliver did to Felix. As an unrequited lover, Oliver couldn't own the object of his obsession in life but in death. Thus, the drinking of the bathwater to partake of Felix's bodily fluids, the drinking of the menstrual blood, the copulation of Felix's grave, all actions to own the life of Felix and his family. The final scene where he dances nude in the mansion is a way of staking your ownership of it, because personally where I can only dance around naked is on my own home alone by myself.
