i almost screamed at Sean nailing (haha, nailing) the prediction about Oliver popping Felix's tire, when that is suposed to be such a BIG tidbit of information at the end of the movie. Your mind, man. Your mind
at first, Oliver's goal was Felix. once Felix rejected him, he turned his sights to Saltburn, like a consolation prize. I love how you completely called that Oliver was a such a good liar, he was lying to himself. this is especially true when it comes to his feelings about Felix. I'm glad you liked Farleigh's character; he's my favorite character and I'm glad he's the only family member who made it out alive.
@samanthaparmley1386 you’re right that he used sex to get what he wanted, that much was very clear. I disagree that Saltburn was always the plan. 1) he had never even been there before so how would he know that he wanted it that badly? 2) if he never wanted Felix, he would never have done those obsessive things toward him in private, like drinking his cummy bath water or humping his grave. he had no reason to do those things in private as part of some master plan. that part was his obsession with Felix and wanting to be with him. when he realized he’d lost him, he then moved on to plan B: Saltburn.
@samanthaparmley1386 yes, Oliver manipulated things from the start. however, Felix was his goal, not Saltburn. he had never even been there so he couldn’t possibly have known that it was what he wanted. besides, his obsession with Felix is clearly shown in the way he behaved in the bathtub scene and at the grave. these things are all done in private, with no one around to manipulate. these are the moments where we can get a glimpse into how Oliver truly felt. he is an unreliable narrator because he is a compulsive liar. he was absolutely obsessed with Felix and when he realized that Felix was no longer an option, he knew he had to get rid of him and move on to the next best thing: Saltburn.
@samanthaparmley1386 I think Oliver just damaged Felix’s bike to get Felix to pay attention to him. Oliver also plays into Felix’s savior complex and lies about his family so Felix will be interested in him. I highly doubt Felix would’ve been interested in Oliver at all if Oliver was just a random normal student he happened to run into.
The family are stereotypical WASPS, aka white upper class, upper crust, privileged, snobbish, elitists. They just care about nothing and money and those who have money. Troubles are usually disappeared away in the middle of the night or bought off or hushed up to keep up appearances. I knew a family like this in reality. I was friends with one of their cousins. Their son was a raging violent drunk. When he would stumble home, they would sit and eat and all pretend he wasn't smashing plates in the background. Like, you couldn't talk about it. I felt like I was in the twilight zone watching it all happen. This movie captures that kind of attitude of these type of people REALLY well.
I’m so sorry it happened to you! No wonder why they kept their horrible secrets from you. It’s really hard. It’s really hard that people won’t be noticed about their uncertainties that came from their families’ role modeling. How could they be so stupid when they made you think like they don’t know? They were so foolish but they needed to be treated in good care and medical help or else they’ll be mentally unstable like they were before. But I’m happy that you fully addressed it. You came clean. You’re much like Farleigh who found out about the true nature of the Cattons he loved so much which is so devastating, his own family, his uncle James, his aunt Elspeth, and his two cousins Felix & Venetia. I found out too. We all found out. He knows what’s going on with them for being deniable and passively racist. You and Farleigh will move on safely in peace. Yes, the Cattons are definitely the wasps aka the family of… White Aristocratic Snobbish Privileged Superiors 🐝 They have never learned their lessons, they died regretting their beliefs to others and died ignoring their bad actions or crimes. The evidence is gone, they brushed the dirt under the rugs before the “sacrifices”. We know that the Cattons are up to something. We have to wait for the deleted scenes from the digital copies to be revealed soon. The answers are what we need which would give you proof to your people.
By the way there are five different versions of Oliver in the film the actor who played him kept 5 different journals of notes on them. And the true real Oliver is seen when you meet his parents. Such a great film 😊
Oliver's antlers were a nod to his breakout role in The Killing of A Sacred Deer. Also between them being class of 2006, the end game happened in 2022 according to the paper. Putting in the work lol
Loved your reaction! You should definetly watch the society of the snow, it's a great movie and I'm sure you are going to have a lot of interesting things to say about that one
This is the most insightful saltburn commentary I've watched so far. I was planning to skip to the most interesting parts but I've realized that's your commentary
I wish they had kept the original ending of the butler giving him runny eggs again. It would have been a far more clear direction of the tone. No one here was a winner.
you’re so perceptive, it’s impressive. granted, this movie isn’t very subtle or clever, but watching this after binging a couple of your vids, i’m sure you’d have been able to read this just as easily even if it was more of a challenge
I mean, he read the synopsis before he watched the movie and he said that he saw the trailer for it. If the trailer for this is anything like every other trailer that exists nowadays, it probably gives some pretty clear hints about the plot and gives away any “twists” that might exist.
Well according to my Patreon I posted it on 21st Jan and watched it way over a month ago . The main plot wasn’t hard to figure out . I also got loads of details wrong .. I just have habit not to careless just watch something
What was the craziest scene ?
Full Uncut Commentary for this movie and other tv shows and movies is available on : www.patreon.com/SeanThompson
In a movie filled with crazy scenes, I personally feel like the bathtub drain scene is the craziest.
Every prediction Sean makes in every reaction is always like minimum 90% accurate. It's actually crazy.
i almost screamed at Sean nailing (haha, nailing) the prediction about Oliver popping Felix's tire, when that is suposed to be such a BIG tidbit of information at the end of the movie. Your mind, man. Your mind
You’re for real my favorite movie commentator on YT. You’re so observant and so knowledgeable of story beats. It’s fun watching you figure stuff out!

damn you were predicting things right away!
I haven't seen any reactor pick up on all the clues so well! Love this reaction!
I just clicked so fast, i watched this movie a few days ago and have been binging videos about it, super excited to see one of my faves do it!!
I love that you were analyzing everything so well since the beginning! I DID THE SAME 🧐
Great reaction as always 💥

Great reaction! You put more thought into what was happening than any other reaction video I’ve seen!
Match Point with Scarlet Johansson and Jonathan Rhys Myers would be a good companion watch for this movie.
By the way there are five different versions of Oliver in the film the actor who played him kept 5 different journals of notes on them. And the true real Oliver is seen when you meet his parents. Such a great film 😊
You knowing what day Venetia’s period might be. 😂😂😂
the funny thing about your predictions is according to the characters in the movie, ollie is very... hung.
Oliver's antlers were a nod to his breakout role in The Killing of A Sacred Deer. Also between them being class of 2006, the end game happened in 2022 according to the paper. Putting in the work lol
I was in the middle of watching another video when this popped up in my notifs and i had to click IMMEDIATELY 😂😂😂
Loved your reaction!

imo, it wasn’t THAT bad. maybe it’s because I grew up on wattpad and ao3, but I’ve see worse
I wish they had kept the original ending of the butler giving him runny eggs again. It would have been a far more clear direction of the tone. No one here was a winner.
I think he had studied the family before school… he knew who they were.

Well, to "predict" things like that in a movie that has been around now for weeks and everybody has been given spoilers everywhere... come on man,
I mean, he read the synopsis before he watched the movie and he said that he saw the trailer for it. If the trailer for this is anything like every other trailer that exists nowadays, it probably gives some pretty clear hints about the plot and gives away any “twists” that might exist.
