It’s not just 460hp, it’s 460 in a 3400 pound car that has its weight in the right areas: 50/50 balance due to mid front engine and a rear transaxle (like Aston Martin, Mercedes GT, Ferrari California, Ferrari Portofino), 300lbs of torque at an early 1000rpm, pushrod engine allows engine to lower center of gravity, carbon fiber roof and hood help lower center of gravity. This pushrod engine also has cylinder deactivation so I get an incredible 36mpg on long trips. #1 in stopping power at 60-0mph in 90ft (even Porsche generally stops in longer 100 ft, a Toyota Camry needs even longer 125ft). Corvette Stingray corners at 1.05G which is higher than a Porsche 911. Corvette Stingray is faster than a base Porsche 911 at $91k (good luck finding one stripped, dealers typically ask $110k); you'd have to step up to a Porsche 911S at $130k to match the Corvette Stingray. To get the Corvette's supercar looks with a wide body and low roof, you'd have to step away from a Porsche 911 (looks like a VW bug with the narrow body and tall roof) and into a Porsche 918 but that sucker costs $1 million or Porsche Carrera GT at $440k! Corvette's tail lights are 3D (like Aston Martin Zagato) which is cooler than flat. Very few sports cars still have the best fun experience feature: a manual transmission, yet Corvette has the highest number of manual transmission owners at 25% versus the general population at 5%. Lastly, every Corvette offers wind in your hair and louder exhaust note experience with its freebie targa top; when you combine the low sitting position, you don't have to drive fast to feel fast for fun without tickets!
There is an old saying "you can only put so much lightness into a car". Personally, all my Vettes have always won from a launch, but get crushed from a roll. I just find the power has not been enough to overcome the heavier competition once they get a tune, or they get the jump, and I am stock. I just can't pull the trigger on 460hp, unless the upgrade path lights the way, and that has not happened for 3 Corvettes in a row, so I would need a Z06. Thanks.
I have the same C7 as your test car and really like it. Thank you for your great review and I agree with everything you said about this great sports car. I had two 911’s over the years and this is by far my favorite and for me 460 HP with manual tranny is all anyone needs.
Corvette's have forever been a drivers car. If you want an affordable car that can push 200 you can't go wrong with any corvette really. Being in a club and knowing Vettes (I have a C4 and C6 and a 04 Mustang), the C5 has the cheapest interior. Period. Chevy went for a lightweight car and accomplished that by using cheaper materials, but it kept the price down. They stepped it up a bit with the C6 but did keep some of the same features to save money. Personally I love the C6 because of its simplicity yet they did make the interior look and feel substantially better than the pervious gen. Moving on to the C7 Stingray... it can hang and beat a lot of its competitors with ease. Probably the best investment too. At least you can work on your engine if you ever wanted to, unlike porsche...
I have those seats, you can put them down lower and get into a better driving position, just have to push down on the adjuster. they are very adjustable in general. definitely a little more snug too, they are the competition seats - they have some grand tour seats that are more comfortable and accommodating.
Good Review , I’m hoping to purchase a Convertible version like the one you just tested . Nice color scheme with the red stripes ! Thanks for posting 👍
haha, its definitely different. I was not a fan initially but they do look better in person. I think the black contrast on most of them is still better though.
When I bought mine and stopped at the gas station on my way home I had several people come to the car and ask what it was they couldn't believe it was a Corvette or Chevrolet
Those competition seats are your big problem it sounds like....the side bolsters can be a bit snug for daily driving. The regular or premium seats are better all around in my opinion.
Great review. I'm torn between a C7 Grand Sport and Mustang GT350/GT35R. Which one handles the best around corners? Do I need to be concern with the rear fish tailing? Only thing that scares me about the corvettes.

@@MrJuij I'm not the right person to ask. Never been a fan of those kind of sedans.. the Hellcats, Chargers, Camaros, Mustangs, etc. To me the sports cars are where its at. The only acceptable back seat is in a Porsche 911. :)
nope. Dead serious. I'm never high. If I was buying a C7 vette, I'd be getting a manual Grand Sport (for sure over the Z06). ZR1 changes that answer by a little bit tho.
EddieX I have a ‘18 ZL1 and a ‘17 C7 Z06. My dad owns Chevy dealers and I’ve driven all of them, they don’t compare to a Z06. All of that bang for your buck and justification for a 460 HP Vette wears off real quick when you get blown away at Woodward by a Mustang.
Can'tHave2MuchHP If you’re talking about racing, then yeah, you’ll want the fastest car possible. But just cruising around the city every day, the stingray and GS can’t be beat. Especially if you’re not a fan of having to refill your car on gas every other day. Now of course when the C8 comes out, I’ll definitely be on the lookout for either a bargain on a Z06 or a C8 if it’s impressive enough
Corvette on the front, a sub-par wannabe Camaro on the back.. Chevrolet has royally screwed-up the C7.. I have NO IDEA what the designers at Chevrolet were thinking to destroy one of the classic trademarks of the car, and less what the executives were smoking to get it approved. Either the C8 gets back a proper Corvette rear with round lights (ot at least an exclusive look no matter the lights' shape) or this melting pot between Corvettes and Camaros as far as Im concerned is the end of the road for this car. Long live the C1 thru C6!
Rather intrigued as to how strongly you feel about the rear lights. Why is having round lights such a big deal? Designs evolve over time, I prefer the look of the C7
You must be those 60+ enthusiasts, living in denial. The company has to change, adapt and bring in younger customer base and increase the sales. Thus the C7 was designed fresh from ground up, including rear lights. Look beyond your little concerns and you'll feel good and be in sync with current time.

Few people get power to weight ratio anymore. They just read hp number foolishly
@@dylanwurfel9026 few people understand dyno charts vs peak power. area under the curve > peak hp/tq number

Im sure the body color accents look good in person but on video it looks like the car was painted by maaco and forgot to tape off the pieces

They look funny on c7s and I think really mute the design. It’s one of the few things I’m not a fan of.
Gonna paint my tail surrounds white now ..👍
Those are optional competition seats they’re supposed to be snug for the race track
It was and is a great choice, I love my C7 manual !!!!
Z51s dont overheat on the track like the Z06
When I bought mine and stopped at the gas station on my way home I had several people come to the car and ask what it was they couldn't believe it was a Corvette or Chevrolet
Reading all the issues with the c7 auto trans I just might get the manual.
It really is a bargain if you buy the stingray and then add on performance parts after-the-fact like an STS turbo
also true. If you plan on modding it extensively, good platform to begin with
Haven't heard of that rear mount turbo since back in my C5 days and desperate for more power. Crazy product, but not saying it won't work. Thanks.
Great review, cool car. Still don't understand how chrome wheels are a thing, looks so bad.
Different people, different tastes.
I'd bet the owner is over 50 who prefers chrome. Under 50 owners prefer black.
Agree. Chrome is out. Black or colored is in.
i think it depends on the color of the car. black isnt all its cracked up to be.

great review.. really good at it.

Love that intro song. What song is it?
Great intro!
thanks!
So have you decided on the next car you're going to get?
nope.
You gonna do a C7 ZR1 Eddie?
I want these seats for my 17 camaro
oooh that would be cool. wonder if they would just slide in? same parts from the same company?
EddieX I can check my service info I have a friends who work for gm just gotta buy pricey full seats lol
I agree and have one on my channel! Check out my Z06 comparison.
Can you review a c6 zr1?
I shall try, really want to drive one
