I probably prefer coolies songs on the whole but they both bring something that makes DBT an amazing band. I met Patterson outside a venue he was playing in London and he was cool.
Most DBT songs are tuned a whole step down. I've noticed it primarily in Mike Cooley's songs, but maybe Patterson Hood does it too. My best guess though would be that Patterson Hood is playing in E Standard & Cooley has his guitar capoed to bring him up to standard tuning to match Patterson Hood in the key the song is in. It's not super uncommon to see this kind of thing though. Most lead guitar players don't use a capo because a capo restricts access to parts of the fretboard that most lead guitar players like to have available to solo with.
I love this🍷🦣🦕
