An Objective Review of Celeste

- For this next video, I have decided to meet the demands of Gamers™ everywhere and write a 100% objective review of the 2018 video game Celeste. Yep, definitely nothing that isn't objective in this video, no sir.
Watch to find out whether I give this game a good, perfect, or the worst rating a video game could receive: 6.5/10.
Ok but in all seriousness, this video is my attempt at using the format of a review to act as a sort of memoir, similar to works like The Anthropocene Reviewed by John Green or "Playing Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" by Jamil Jan Kochai. Definitely one of the more personal pieces of writing that I have done in recent memory, but I am overall pretty proud of it, even though I feel pretty certain that this thing is gonna get less view than my other stuff. With that said, I hope you end up enjoying this and perhaps let me know what you think of this format, because I can see myself doing this with a number of other works out there.

such a high production video for a channel under 10k subs, love it
Thank you! I try my best
Great video, it felt very relaxing.
Glad you enjoyed it
I just stumbled upon your video… What a clever and intimate game-review. Thank you for creating this gem. 🙏🥇
Wait, does this video have cuts every 44 seconds? Clever and fun! Thanks for making it.
It wasn’t 44 seconds exactly, but it was close
Extremely ok games is what the company is called now
Whoops, good to know
Great idea with using the crt but I’d suggest uploading vids like these with a mix of a higher resolution/framerate(even if your source file is only 1080p).
RUclips absolutely destroys 1080p30 videos both in terms of encoding and frame-pacing, so going for a higher resolution container is the best option.
The video itself is pretty sweet though!
I'm going to be honest, here... I don't think that this game is as great as many others do. SO many give this game a perfect score, but I'm finally getting around to playthrough it, and I must say, I'm glad they put in the Assist Mode, otherwise I'd have stopped at the fourth level.
I get that they wanted to tell an absolutely gripping story, while giving a game that is meant to be absolutely unforgiving, but I, personally, can't stand absolutely unforgiving games. I stopped trying to play Soulslike games for that reason, but I HAD to give Celeste a playthrough because of the story. From the second level to the end of the fourth, I was actively agitated because of the game's difficulty, hundreds (literally) of deaths and the overall feeling like I'm going absolutely nowhere just kept making me angry. The problem, here, is that it began to bleed into the emotional beats of the story.
The game was so unforgiving, it made enjoying the story on its own terms physically impossible, so I turned on the Assist Mode so that I could find SOME semblance of enjoyment.
And that's why, I must agree: Celeste deserves a 7.8 out of 10.
This makes me want to make some money to support your patreon
That is so sweet 🥲
