Lazy Day
From their album; On a Threshold of a Dream
Lazy day, Sunday afternoon,
Like to get your feet up, watch T.V.
Sunday roast is something good to eat,
Must be lamb today 'cause beef was last week.
So full up, bursting at the seams,
Soon you'll start to nod off, happy dreams.
Wake up, for tea and buttered scones
Such a lot of work for you Sunday Moms.
Today's heaven-sent and you're feeling content,
You worked all week long.
Still, it's quite sad tomorrow's so bad
And I don't feel so strong.
Lazy day, Sunday afternoon,
Like to get your feet up, watch T.V.
Sunday roast is something good to eat,
Now it's almost over till next week.
What a creative genius was Ray Thomas. The feelings and images in his lyrics and melody serve to satisfy one's cravings for a meaningful listening experience. One of my favorite MB tracks. Hauntingly beautiful. Okay, I'm gonna play it again, Ray!
I have loved this song for a long time. Ray "s voice is exceptional. Thank you for your many talents Mr. Thomas. You will be sorely missed and fondly remembered.
I really like the collection of images you selected for this song. Excellent work!
Always loved this song when I was a child, our Sunday's were as same as in the song. Wonderful time and Happy memories.
Now that I'm 69 and retired I enjoy Lazy Days often. Listening to it now just past midnight Michigan time
Rest in Peace Ray Thomas
RIP Ray,a part of my life has gone with you
Happy and sad song all at the same time. We live in a structured world where we have beef this week and lamb next week. We work Monday thru Friday and look forward to Sunday afternoon, a brief moment with family and friends. Moodies capture the mood and meaning of life.
amen
Don't feel the sad in it though. But I guess I get why someone would.
you nailed it, dude
nicely done,,,a great song on an incredible album
If only we could re-capture those days
Remember when Sunday was special? A day off from the madness?
Yeah
Long long ago....
Actually Sunday Roman's started it with the Sun God day, while the Jewish people observed the 7th day , Saturday as the Sabbath. Look at any calendar, Sunday is the first day., Saturday the 7th. I am not Jewish or Roman, just an observation.
Those were the days, special magical days. Take us back
Still is ..sacred to me and my family ..sun worshiper
Amazing what can be sung in 3 short minutes
My kiwi friend's wife here in the Philippines was commenting on what a nice relaxed day they were having so sent this
Just brilliant! L♥ve this song and beautiful slideshow ♥
Sunday was a lazy day no shops no internet just happy family time, then it was bath night before school the next day.God where as my life gone now they where the good OLD days
Love Lazy Days ❤
I loved Sundays when I was a kid. First we’d go to Mass and see our friends. Then 0:47 mom always made a great dinner and my sister and I would do the dishes. Then we’d watch Ed Sullivan.
It’s not been the most productive day , I’ve had a nana nap & I still feel tired, I’m loving the dark nights sarks are you 🤪🤪🤪
We have lost my favorite Moody Blue. Love you Mike Pinder. It has made me Moody and Blue
This is a very British song.Have a cup of 🍵 and a 🚬 take a 💊 and trip out in the countryside.Enjoy rain.
Great!!!
Reminds me I would play this one when I was a teen and my Dad would just get a kick every time haha
The Moody Blues always knew how You felt ❤

Either the Midlands, Hertfordshire, or Yorkshire. Beautiful English Countryside. Well done, Moodies!

CLASSIC.
Even me? Heh! I guess the Moody Blues ARE powerful just like that mushroom said! XD
I was just noticing that my selections (to the right) are *exclusively* Moody Blues! They have their own exclusive section then, eh? Should I feel privileged? Hey, I'm with the band!
It reminds me of a song by the kinks
@Dhunatmik Thank you! That album blew my mind back in the day!
Aah-ah-ah,ah-ah-a-a-ahh-ahh----Way to go AGIN Pardn'r!!!! Now ya done gone and made me plum Lazee on this Sunday after-Noon! { I DOES like the Roast Beefy the mostest tho---} Keep'em Komming my friend----=D
Nice sensory interlude with this classic. You are truly at the top of your game and on a hot streak, Jeff. Please do go on. (two thumbs up)
What a fantastic upload. Thank you kindly Jeff. I enjoyed this so much. ♥
Great!
Always liked this song. Pleasant melody, straightforward lyrics but a two edged meaning. The Moody's describing a pleasant suburban life, but also condemning it as boring and predictable (I think they're talking about me).
There beneath the blue suburban skies
Lazy Day......bass guitar and Ray vocals make the song
Ooh! An acerbic indictment of the Bourgeoisie! Not Marie Antoinette: "Let them eat Cake" No....Ray Thomas : "Let's eat lamb .. or beef ..or tedium ... ennui...or Assam tea w. Strawberry Jam Butties. Matters not, Dearie, just as long as there's time for "The Telly." Top-of-the-Pops, Mate.
Reminiscent of the Kinks Village Green!
Looks like scenes from Hertfordshire, the Midlands, maybe Yorkshire? Where?
Who could ever kill a little lamb?...
there's an insane woman named Lesie Whittenstall who's so obsessed with the Moody Blues it played a part in her arrest
That's cool, man
I'd love to know more
You can't leave it there11!
down tha' German Klub for a bit o' Roast Pork & Wheat beers, instead!🥨🍻
HERES A SONG SIMPLE ENOUGH RIGHT UNTIL YOU REALIZE THE TIMING AND WORDS ARE SO REALISTIC SUNDAY IS GREAT BUT MONDAY SCARES ME!
superp song
I still do Sunday roast.
It is England👍 Why no rain?
England doesn't have as much rain as some like to think. The Eastern side in particular is quite dry really.
ma che malinconia, ragazzi!!! Comunque, peccato che i Moody oggi siano
andati nel dimenticatoio
A lazy Sunday afternoon
Where are some of these places? I may seem naive, and maybe they're Thomas Kinkade-type fantasy scenes, but it would be nice if some of them are real. Oddly enough, it's a Sunday afternoon here right now. My Dad used to play harmonica like Ray Thomas and his day to wind down was always Sunday. He and my Mom (who's also passed) bought me this album for Christmas in 1986. It's a great video. Thank you!
English country homes, the sort that inspired that Kinkade.
The cotswolds
I like this song but I can't understand all the words. Can someone give me the lyrics?
Always a great song. Was also my NYS Vanity License Plate name from '79 - '93. One problem though, your on and off pictures is a little disturbing. Your dissolve from picture to picture is fine though, just do everything a little bit slower.
England, baby!
Daft literal videos. Put some inagination in ffs.
