I don't think young people ever had a problem with "the most interesting man in the world"s age. If anything he rode the line between coolest grandpa ever, and kinda sexy for an old guy very effectively, and it made the commercials all the more amusing. Also, I feel like to be the most interesting man in the world you NEED and entire lifetime of interesting things. A younger man would be on his way to becoming the most interesting man in the world. It would be funny to see a commercial where they competed at things, like knife throwing ect... and the original guy won, but the new guy did something that impressed him, so he gives him permission to try for the title.
Good Point! In fact Jonathan Goldsmith told a story about how his agent (or manager?) saved the day by using that very idea upon being told by the marketing people crafting the campaign that they were gravitating toward a younger man. And whereas I can totally understand the need to 'update' the marketing campaign- I believe they missed a very good opportunity by not tying it into Jonathan's character like perhaps his son or even sons.
They SHOULD HAVE HAD the original guy return unexpectedly... but as a younger man. You know....worm hole, time/space thing. It WOULD be a new actor but one that looks like Jonathan. (They are out there.) Then he could do all the young man stuff with the sexy wisdom gained in age. Think about it this way.. Sean Connery young as James Bond (YUCKY!) Sean Connery old as (oh gosh-just drew a blank)...anywy..he was much sexier and more interesting as he was older. Jonathan has moved on now to a new, tequila company, I believe. The beer company....missed it by miles with this actor-choice. Just not hitting a home run on this one.
I really prefer the older dude. This new "Young" guy isn't interesting in the least and he doesn't have the retired super spy feel. The older guy always made me think of how James Bond would be when he gets older and retires. EIther way, Dos Equis is gross.
A couple things you don't know: Will Lyman (who I spoke to as an audiobook reviewer) can't reveal his opinion on the subject of Heineken (which owns Dos Equis.) But I suspect his affections are with Goldsmith. Goldsmith's new book Stay Interesting comes out in June, and Jonathan narrates it, not Lyman. All will be revealed then. Dos Equis fired him essentially for being too old. Ageism is the last remaining prejudice that everyone seems to accept. Goldsmith got the job after auditioning by improvising and then using the line, after they said "we'll be in touch" by saying, "is a younger man more interesting?" Believability was what they were looking for. Now it's, "who cares about old fogies?" Hollywood surely doesn't. That's why so many cartoon movies with vapid scripts. I'll be interviewing Goldsmith about his new book soon. Any questions you'd like asked?
The most important thing about him is he is not the Most Interesting Man in the World and he never will be. They ruined these commercials completely. He is too disheveled and unkempt. One of the funny parts of the commercials was the man did all these things and still looked like he just came out of a fashion show. It made it seem more legendary.
The New Most Interesting Man In the World, Could never replace Jonathan Goldsmith, There will always be ONE, The new guy "SUCKS" Bring back the real one!!!! We miss you Jonathan.
just rerun the classic commercials, they are already unique and to top them isn't likely so save yourselves the time and effort just keep what is classic adverts for the next 30 or more years
I'm from Colombia and I have heard French-speakers speak Spanish before and that guy sounded like a proper Spaniard to me of which I've also met as well. Which is why I'm surprised he is a French actor.
and also the fact that the most interesting man kept getting older and older is part of what made It great too, I don't really think dos eqis really understand what made the commercials great...
They made the new guys adventures make him look like he tried to hard to impress people, when the older man was just a natural and made others feel good. Thats why new guy bombed
I liked the first guy better. Much more interesting...
one could say the most interesting men in the world
drink15 so true!

perfectly stated

I still prefer the fist guy
Solar Horse fist...
phil null yeah typos happen. I'm pretty sure your smart enough to know what I meant.
I love my fist guy
LOLFUCKYOU lol I'm glad you do
@thwip71 Pete Buttigieg LOVES his fist guy!
I don't always click on Looper vids, but when i do, it's about the Most Interesting Man in the World
caesarmatty stay watching my friend
As a certain Vulcan would say…interesting!😮
He looks like an old Michael phelps
Sean Obuszewski omg he does lol
Sean Murray lo
I actually thought it was him
Ditto.
lmaooo
they should have let the concept of "most interesting man" die out. Basically, we are now watching the second most interesting man and it's dumb.
That would mean they'd have to actually work at coming up with a new concept and it could cost them money.

The Amber is pretty good for a mainstream beer. The regular is dreck.
Michale phlelps' southern born cousin.
John Leeper totally xD

Wow, this how "advanced" we have become. We're criticising beer commercial icons.
😁LOL! Fun huh! And I don't even drink!
Michael Phelps would have actually been a more interesting person to utilize.
igotwhips he's hairless
actually look him up with a beard... They look exactly alike.
The old guy is so much better.
I prefer the old one I dislike the new guy >_>
AkiraSlayer EVERYONE DOES
Give him a chance. He'll grow on you.
Been a year and I still don't like him very much
now after a couple of commercials later, we need a ultimate match and have the first guy comeback to take back his title.
The guy in the thumbnail, isn't the most interesting man!!! That guy is a fraud!!!
What I don't know about the man I've never seen nor give a shit about? Probably everything.
The most important thing about him is he is not the Most Interesting Man in the World and he never will be. They ruined these commercials completely. He is too disheveled and unkempt. One of the funny parts of the commercials was the man did all these things and still looked like he just came out of a fashion show. It made it seem more legendary.
why did they change? I liked the older one. He really did look interesting.
The new guy looks like Michael Phelps with a beard.
The New Most Interesting Man In the World,
Could never replace Jonathan Goldsmith, There will always be ONE,
The new guy "SUCKS"
Bring back the real one!!!! We miss you Jonathan.
Lt. Corbis was so right about this.
I preferred Jonathan because he was classier.
I don't always drink piss but when I do I drink Dos Equis.
New guys ok, but how do you top the original?
I like the older guy
Legrand fits the role like a well worn favorite shoe. I miss the original, but Augustin gets it done.
Great vid!!
The fact that they chose a French man alone, shows marketing "geniuses" are out of touch with Americans lol
I like the other guy better
just rerun the classic commercials, they are already unique and to top them isn't likely so save yourselves the time and effort just keep what is classic adverts for the next 30 or more years
The new guy totally sucks very disappointed bring the older guy back !!.
amazing sir I am wondering what your recording setup, and ways good video.
They wont be able to top the other guy. Its to iconic now.
2:14 my crotch hurts just looking at that leg cross lol
Panda Frost I was thinking almost the same thing. I was mentally unwinding his legs lol.
I have no idea who both of this people are and I don't care
SnoopysOtherBird - well, you cared enough to post your comment, and I cared enough to point it out. 👍🏻🤗
Then explain to us why you are here?
wow, i became viewer number 364 thats a new record for me when it comes to getting early on a video from a big channel
Id watch a "Most Interesting Man" Movie
the nose on the new guy....holy fuck
They should have used Bruce Jenner, cuz he's a transformer... Now that's interesting!
This was a very interesting video 👍
Will Lyman: "Help me, for I am trapped in limbo, doing these voiceovers."
The world's most interesting man replaced by the least interesting?
Holy crap hes 41? He looks way older than that!
Could you please tell me what song you used in this video?
maybe for old heads he's interesting, cause I don't know who the fuck this is.
I saw the first commercial with the new guy yesterday. I miss the old man.......
Jonathan, original guy, KNEW how to be "interesting".... It is in the eyes....a look that pulls you in and cradles your soul.
i cant be the only one thinking that this is secretly Michael Phelps real dad...
Did anyone else think it was Michael Phelps?
I love this channel
No compression, the old guy was way better to
That was the most interesting video on the Looper channel.
The Most Interesting Man vs TheLegend27 vs Chuck Norris
ummm his spanish isnt that good lol.
***** ......? im just pointing out a fact. sure, the man might be able to get by in a Spanish speaking country, but he has a thick accent.
Superkoopatrooper, Uribe is right, he speaks Spanish almost with a French accent, and he kind of mumbles it, which makes me wonder about his fluency.
I'm from Colombia and I have heard French-speakers speak Spanish before and that guy sounded like a proper Spaniard to me of which I've also met as well. Which is why I'm surprised he is a French actor.
Sponsored content aye?
William Takor M-A. No kidding.
He has a wispy beard though...not the strong beard essential to a true heir to the title Most Interesting Man....
Sorry. Not feeling him for the most interesting look
i like dos xx more than corona
The narrator for The History Channel's shows is Stacey Keach.
Stay Interesting, my friends.
Am I the only one who thinks he looks like Sean Murray?
What I do know is he's not suave or handsome, so if this is what's going to sell beer it must be targeting the blind. I feel for the blind.
and also the fact that the most interesting man kept getting older and older is part of what made It great too, I don't really think dos eqis really understand what made the commercials great...
They made the new guys adventures make him look like he tried to hard to impress people, when the older man was just a natural and made others feel good. Thats why new guy bombed
These spots are dead. And BTW ... none of the things mentioned are the least bit interesting. They're all kinda desperate sounding. Let it go.
If Michael Phelps and John Krasinski had a kid and that kid grew up, it'd be this guy
not a good choice..... first guy still 10x more interesting lol
So he's basically Chuck Norris light.
mmm6325 who's that?
It isn't 2008 anymore, we can let dead memes stay dead.
I don't always watch Looper, but when i do...
Did Anyone else think this was Michael phelps with a beard?
Am I the only one who didn't even these guy's roles until now
Dos Equis should have used a black guy as the most interesting man in the world..
Soundafek no
Soundafek I guess they didn't want the actor to drink Dos Equity from a bag~~~LOL
*BRING BACK THE OLDER GUY PLEASE!!!!* This is not the most interesting man in the world.
I'm disappointed that you consider Ancient Aliens more questionable than American Pickers.
The original was much better
He looks like an older Sean Murray
I had no idea there was a new most interesting man.
can you make a video about what is going on with karl pilkington and if he is planing to come back
I approve this thumbnail
-Kenny Florian
I have no idea who these guys are.
I saw a thumbnail and thought it was Michael Phelps with a beard.
i HATE these commercials with a passion.. its unhealthy
Bring back Jonathan
I thought it was the creative director of No Mans Sky lol..
You wanna sell something, get Chuck Norris... end of story
They should change theme , the most interesting man is already branded to the old man
No disrespect to the new guy, but that was almost an impossible to Goldsmith.
they should have made the new guy the old ones son or somethin
Lol... Good One!!!
At first glance I thought it was Michael Phelps.
I thought he was Sean Murray... I was about to say what's new about No Man Sky...
he's French?!?!? he's not actually Spanish?!?!?
The original guy is the best. Come on, Get the original back.
make a movie on this fictional character. instead
What was that at the end about deep sea UFOs, aren't UFOs meant to be flying?
i dont like the new guy
I'll stick with Miller's Lite.
seems ok...but Goldsmith is the shit! Love his new Tequila ad!1
link?
Dan: STAY THIRSTY MY FRIENDS!
WTF, I thought it was Michael Phelps.
All I got from this was that deep sea Unidentified flying objects continue to lurk through the uncharted waters of earth
I thought it was Michael Phelps.
What happened to the old one
Fired for being too old.
