RIP Mr. Townsend, you made this show what it was. 💙
OK, not an alum, just a follower/marcher/teacher of great marching bands since the 1980's. Who was he? I appreciate backstories on great people.

@@ohio-l2h oh damn
Such an honor to have been a part of this amazing show and program
My first reaction: "OH MY FRONT ENSEMBLE"
Bro saaame. Like I have a friend whos drumline is big as that pit. Amazing stuff though!
I recognized La mer and Fetes from Trois Nocturnes, but I was lost on some of the tunes in the middle.
KEEP SWAYING.
Band mom says:: Still best show ever!!!!
Was this prelims or finals?
prelims, I think
oh weird exact same opening hit as leander in 2013!
i see me!
What pieces did they use?
This was a DCI show, right? At least part of it... it seemed really familiar
There was a corps that played one of the songs that in this show, but no the drill is diffirent
+Motive That was I was saying haha. Do you remember which corps?
Santa Clara Vanguard 1996
What was this show called?
Something called "La Mer" on the state program. The announcers gives all the selections...
rocketfan86 Thank you.
I remember doing this with out amplification. It's called "guts" and "practice"XD
wow, looks like a lot of the same moves from 30 years ago.
La Mer @TrainGuy
What a small front ensemble.
Waddle Doo Sarcasm if you couldn't tell. Love me a huge pit.
Thats weird that they copied Carolina Crown 2013 i low key dont like that, but whatever lol
That's always been the trend. High schools would 'copy' what DCI corps did. Very prevalent in the 70s and 80s.
so high school band directors are expected to compose music from scratch now? nah fam u doin too much
Emily Sears yeah. It’s called a custom show. Literally what we did
@@emilysears814 they typically just hire people to write the show (drill and music) for them. Our band hired someone who writes music for Carolina Crown.
