Omg I think we are living in the same suburb (Willowdale Leppington). I used to work at Ctown Council as a Civil Design Engineer and recently moved towards TfNSW for another Engineer's position. I need to take the train from Leppington Station to Parramatta, and we have the same routine lol. Good to see some great fellow lives nearby.
Thanks for watching. Yeah I do live in the Willowdale suburb as well. Train route is Leppington to Townhall. Very cool to be on the government side in engineerin.
Hello Brandon! I'm from Brazil and i found your channel right now and i liked so much! I have plans to move to Australia in 2 years and i work just the same of you with Autocad 2D! Here in Brazil i work with street signage with transit signs and horizontal painting. What is work like for those who work with Autocad in Australia? Is the salary satisfactory? Thanks for reading my comment! Sorry for my English, I'm still learning!
Thanks for watching! Your english is fine. Salary can be satisfactory but depends on your experience and qualifications. Depending on your discipline you do when you come here, it can affect your salary. I find anything working on large Government projects the salary is better. But goodluck and all the best!
Cool vlog Brandon, we have similar work roles. I am a senior estimator for a building company here in Sydney. New sub, looking forward to more content.
It looks good and originally comes from Okinawa, Japan. You should try to make Spam sandwich. It is made up with see weeds and rice, spam, egg. I bring them for lunch in my office.

Really enjoy your video! Can I ask what laptop do you use for engineering drafting? People recommend gaming laptops like Asus tuf or legion pro 5 to get more bang for buck. But you are not Do you have any tips? And how do you pick a laptop for autocad (2D and 3D) Thanks
Thanks for watching! Yeah in regards to my laptop. This is a work provided one so I didnt have to pay for it. In regards to my work laptop specs it is a Dell Precision 7560 - 128GB RAM, i9-11950H Processor, Nvidia RTXA4000 and 1TB SSD. My suggestion is try to get a job as Apprentice or Cadet if your just starting out drafting so you can get all the equipment and training free. If you can't and need a personal laptop, I recommend a gaming laptop. I would recommend at least 32GB of RAM minimim 10th gen i7 processor or equivalent. Graphics card at least 6GB of memory so RTX 3060 or RTX4060. 3D requires higher specs but for 2D what I mention above is a good start. But generally out of all the companies I've worked at, a laptop is provided.
Hi there. Not sure what you would want covered particularly. But I started as an Apprentice Drafter. 3 years later became Civil Drafter and then after 6 years of total experience I am currently a Senior Drafter.

Do your cats eat fresh food....my cats like prawns..roast chicken..fresh mince..cooked barramubdi..all in bite size cat size....but def not whiskas...other brand tins yes..
Fresh food would be a treat for them. Yeah we give them pieces of roast chicken when we also have. We dont eat to much seafood for our household. I think their favourite cat food brand is Fancy Feast. But they also eat the package tuna snack for cats, they luv that one. But their favourite treat is Churu puree. They always pur when they eat that one.
Thanks for watching. Ha ha good question. Its a bit awkward to film in public to be honest, I still get a bit shy but trying to get used to it. For camera, I am just using my phone to film everything. I have a S23 ultra. For sound recording, I either use my Rode Wireless Mic II or just the phone audio.
Hey Brandon, thank you for your video. I am currently exploring the drafter role to decide whether I should pursue a Diploma of Civil Construction Design for 2 years in Australia. I am 32 years old, female, and have no experience in CAD or engineering. As an international student without a working visa, do you think it would be easy to find a drafter job in Australia after completing the course? Also, could you let me know if this role typically requires working overtime, after hours, or on weekends? Is a hybrid/WFH work arrangement common in this field? Is this role suitable for a female? Thanks in advance for answering my queries :)
Hi there, With international students it is a little trickier, I think it is a bit harder but not impossible. I think being a female in the engineering industry is a positive, higher preference for females than males. In regards, to work I think its hard but not impossible. There is a bit of a project slump at the moment but will probably pick up next year. Overtime is very common and is usually unpaid. The major transport projects usually has the most overtime. Weekend work is rare but working back a couple hours is common. Most companies do a hybrid of working from with usually 3 days office the standard. My wife Camz is also a Civil drafter. And both our teams is 50% female.
I think it really depends on your income level. But overall things have definitely gotten more expensive, for example my mortgage has increased by 40% and it has definitely hurt out savings. In regards to work, I think we have a good working culture which is quite laid back.
Very true, but depends where you live. The most stressful would be Sydney and Melbourne. Perth, Canberra and Queensland is usually more laid back. Work life can be bad in Australia, from my experience 95% of companies have terrible work environment and conditions but if you're lucky then that won't be the case (depends the industry also).
@@Thepopularr for me personally as a drafter work life has its high and lows but mostly positive. For general living, definately feeling the cost of living pressures.
@@BrandonSayasane oh great and bytheway currently studens visa people mainly ( diploma ) not easy getting PR know i thing new rules and ponits also changed
Depends on what field you are in. For structural, revit is the main program used but for Civil its a combination of 12D and Openroads for design and AutoCAD mostly for drafting. Except for Victoria State which seem to use Microstation.
At my work we have docking stations that connect our laptops to monitors / keyboards and as well as charge the laptop. (I dont use the provided keyboard or mouse). I just sit my laptop on the mouse pad. At home I have a cooling fan and a docking station as well.
