With one of my tax returns I got a Springfield 1903 mark 1 with matching # and has all of the Pedersen device compatibility parts in it, and it was made in 1918. Also it's in its unsporterized glory.
All you need now is a 'duster', a decent hat and some cowboy boots! Nice purchase. 🤠 The only revolver I have is a Ruger GP100 in .357 mag. It's the stainless, 4.2 inch version and I love it!
If one wanted to be "that guy", they could say that all the metal is covered in rust since that's what bluing is. Nice revolver though. I definitely want a pair of them down the road after I get some more of my higher priority purchases made.
I bought a 10/22 m1 carbine addition a couple years bavk and payed way more then what a standard 10/22 cost and had the same issue and more. The bolt was rusted to the point were you can’t really see the word ruger on the bolt. The barrel band was rusted and razor sharp. And when I took it apart to clean it the finish around the ejection port just started flaking off. It shoots fine but the fit and finish was really poor oh and the hand guard didn’t fit right it sticks out on one side nowhere near flush with the stock. I contacted ruger with photos and pic of proof of purchase all I wanted was to buy a replacement bolt from them I could live with the rest or could clean up the barrel band myself. But again for a gun that cost twice what the standard 10/22 cost there were a plethora of issues shit happens I get it but this rifle should have never made it past qc. And the bs response I got from them I was kinda blown away. Still kinda mad at them and haven’t bought anything else from them. I had a mini 14 also years ago and as much as I loved the rifle I could never get it to run reliable even with the 50 dollar factory mags it would stove pipe jam all the time.I sold that one the 10/22 I said whatever it shoots fine it just sits in the safe now collecting dust. Looks cool anyways wouldn’t be worth much to sell so I kept that one.

I wouldn't use steel wool. Oil with a rag. If that doesn't fix it after a few times send it back because you're gonna ruin that finish
I have cleaned rust off of many firearms with steel wool just fine.
