My dad used to have one. Happiest time of my life was spent in this car. It was upgraded so it had 754 horsepower. So quick, so many memories. I’d do a lot to go back to that
Regarding the multimedia system.. One of my brothers recently got his A4 Saloon, fully equipped. Still, im amazed how poor the "computer" in the car feels. Clunky menus, hard to find settings and rather bad bluetooth-connection.. I´ve got a Volvo S90 and the big touch-screen makes it much easier to navigate and it just works great. Another thing about Audi RS-models is that mostly "rich" people buy these expensive and fast cars. Therefore when something breaks, they just leave it at the shop and it gets fixed. This means that there is not much information on how to fix certain things yourself, since the only thing i´ve found so far on the RS6 -08 is this video. I thank you for the information, i just wish that more people would share of their mishaps and not just leave it at the shop like "I dont care, just fix my car!"-mentality. Im planing on buying a car for the summer, and i found this RS6 Avant 700hp -08. 190 000km. I am for sure going to look for information or visual inspection of the things you brought up in this video. Brakes, suspension, leaks, error-messages... What else can i look for? Thanks.
Wow! More amazing material. NO ONE has videos on these cars like you do. Now if only we got this gem of a car in the U.S..... Uhhhh! I still get irritated by the fact it was never brought. I don't care if the would have only brought 1000 for just one year, Just like the C5 RS6. But no.... Such is life.
I'm a BMW guy through and through and have always wanted an e60 m5, but I can't pick it over this rs6, as it has just too many show-stopper issues. This seems much more stress free comparatively. The engine out job for oil-pump seal change and corroding driver's side coolant pipes are quite the bummer, but other than that nothing too offputting. I love this car, sorry m5 ....
reliability/maintenance wise I would choose mainly the E55 AMG or if you really want then the E63 AMG, however if you want the E63 then keep in mind the cylinder head bolt issue-more info on my website, other than this you have to keep extra money for the air suspension which will fail and the engine can leak here and there, but you don't need to remove the engine to fix the leaks the RS6 is not a disaster reliability wise, but it has a lot more complicated engine, it has simply more parts, more rubber/plastic hoses which will deteriorate at some point + there is basically no space around the engine. So as I said in the video you have to remove the engine to fix some oil or coolant leaks or replace some parts. Of course if you buy one with less than 120 000 km - 150 000 km and you check it properly for leaks then you most probably won't have much issues yet, but sooner or later the engine will leak and you will have to remove it + the abused cars can have worn turbochargers as well which is not a cheap repair either
This looks like an interesting car. I would like to try the 10 cylinder engine. Did any models have a white/stone or red interior? I'll keep my eyes open for one!
it is a very nice car for sure, it can have various interior color combinations: even red, white or light orange, but they are quite rare and you can find mainly cars with black/dark interiors
My dad has this car due to a man who bought it and re-saled it 10 years later. Luckily, if anything were to happen, we are lucky enough he is also a mechanic. XD Edit: Oh. My dad's gearbox is upgraded therefore our car is literally a beast
it really depends on the actual condition of the car, but generally a newer car with less mileage is a better choice, of course buy only a car with regular maintance history
Hey thank you! I just bought one of these. Has a bad oil leak though. But got it very cheap :) I'm not sure where it's coming from. Hopefully not an engine out job :/
@@doca8792 had lots of oil leaking in the valley. My garage said it may be coming down from there so they fixed that. Nice and clean up there since but still pissing out. I think it's that awful job that people usually mention to change a little o-ring -_-
ceramic brakes do not have better performance except for fade...this is myth perpetuated in the motor industry...initial stopping force will actually be better from cold with steel brakes....so on a cold winters morning, when you will most likely need good brakes, the ceramics will actually performance worse..on a 2 tonne car that is just lunacy...why someone would need ceramic brakes on car that will never see the track is beyond me
zwosiebener have you thought about this? If rotor size is the same, with the same pads and calipers, why would ceramic brakes stop you any quicker? The braking force generated is the same but the cermaic brakes are more resistant to heat which makes them better for repeated hard breaking.
Ceramics do stop it faster, but not much. The thing is, they'll stop it faster, but when they need replacing, they cost a small fortune. Steel brakes do stop it slightly slower, but still stop it incredibly fast. Better to get standard steel ones.
Lol.. It takes 1l oil every 1000km, and its The most expensive oil, 80€/liter. Leaks from The gasket between engine and gearbox. The chans can start to rattle, and is mounted to The firewall, which means hole engine out for tensioning them.. Shit thrue and thure..

They only made 50 rhd for uk and 1500 lhd and 8500 avants ,, Audi will never ever put a car like this ever together again due to vw emissions scandal ,, buying a saloon means your a lucky bast..d ?? 1 second ago
Sorry to break it for you but it's not related to the lamborghini 5.0 v10, but to the audi 5.2 v10 fsi engine. It's actually an understroked 5.2 v10 fsi(84.5x89.0 versus 84.5×92.8). Both 5.0tfsi and 5.2 fsi have 90mm cylinder bore spacing and 18.5mm cylinder bank offset. In other words they use the same block. On the other hand, the gallardo 5.0 v10 you are referring to(which by the way isn't completely a lamborghini design and was codeveloped with the help of vw group) has a different bore diameter and stroke. It is 82.5x92.8 and has 88mm cylinder bore spacing. In fact the engine block and crankcase of this engine was produced in the audi factory in Hungary, but the assembly was done in Italy.
However, it "became a lambo engine", when they put the slightly different 5.2l V10 R8 engine. (Oil reservoir, no balancer shaft, etc.) 5.2 V10 into Huracan. In any version, it does make heavenly mechanical noises.

Hey, another great review as usual!
Could you perhaps make one for the S6 C6? I'm planning a purchase soon and would love an in-depth video!
yes, it's on my list!
great review, thx! Love your accent 2.
u don't have this review on ur website anymore, do u @differentcarreview?
none the less thanks for the great video!
I have one and Your comments are totally right! Good Video.
Thanks for your videos, they are really good. Can you do Audi S5 and RS5 videos?
yes, maybe next month, I will see

planing to buy one this week any advice on a 2008 rs6 that has 130-000km for about 28000 euros or should i pass and try get an 2010 with less milage?

No Answer? No Car xDDDD
I mean, who thinks about to buy a 2008 one about 28000€ and ask in the same question for a 2010 with less milage hahahah what a stupid question
Body is made of Alloy-->Yeah good rust protection 😉
alloy can corrode too
We didn’t get these babies in America 😭
