This is video is only for if your a business, I’m always importing electronics from Japan and never have to do any of this, all I do is pay for customs and that’s it it’s delivered next day

Yes, you can obtain an EORI number if you are a sole trader business, and have a virtual office address. EORI is used by customs to track shipments coming in and out of the EU.

There are custom house agents who provide such services while importing or exporting goods. My suggestion is to you that google for some best CHA and contact them.

@@adminefpit2642 Hi The process is almost the same as mentioned in the video. But for UK-EU import/Exports these are pretty new. So even the HMRC/Customs officers/ Freight forwarders are not sure of the paperwork and there are lots of delays to consignments

As far as I am aware, you wouldn't need a license for cocoa import. But pls do check with your freight forwarding agent regarding this.

You will have to speak with the courier company and ask them to deliver to your address. Its called DDP which means they pay the duty and tax to HMRC

Most of the products do not need a Food License. It depends on what you are importing. Eg:- If you Import Rice over 1000kgs, then you need a Licence, but in general spices, groceries doesn't need.

Hi Khawar, At this instance I am assuming your goods will be delivered directly to your address? When the goods reach the airport, the air freight company will contact you to pay duty etc. Once it's paid, the goods will be delivered to you.
@@NishaMenonBusinessTalks oh so you saying i may not be finding myself in this paperwork bombardment to go through the custom clearance. I will be happy to pay the duty over the phone or so and get the shipment delivered at my address 😥😷😥
@@khawar79 That should mostly be the case. You can check with your supplier if it is getting delivered to your address and anything else you nee to do here in UK. Else I can put you in touch with my freight forwarder if you need help..

Hi Zubayr,the procedures and documentation are almost the same for Importing most products
For bike you have to see if there are any extra paperwork required from Gov.uk website. Else you can check with your freight forwarder too

Very informative info! thanks! quick question- We had ordered Samples from China and it was sent by DHL air freight and we didn't provide EORI but then DHL asked us to pay Tax/VAT online which we did and it was delivered to us within a week or so. Now we are ordering the actual consignment and again going to use DHL route so our question is this time do we have to have EORI number? or this can be delivered the way samples were delivered and we pay tax/VAT to DHL? what is the best way? please advise?
Hi Anand, Yes you will need an EORI number even for selling small quantities too.
DO we also need to Request for CHIEF access (C1800)?

For VAT customs, when providing goods value, do you need to state shipping costs to hmrc when taking in to account VAT import charges.
Its only the goods value on which the VAT is calculated

It shouldn't be an issue. It depends on your contract with the company you are working with. If they are ok and doesn't clash with their products or services, it shouldn't be a problem

I have a question that has always left me a little confused. In terms of air-shipment, would that require a UK freight forwarder? If a company from China posts say 5 cartons roughly 11kg in weight (total 55kg) how would the purchaser in the UK get it cleared through customs? Do freight forwarders deal with such small quantities/samples?
1. Would the Chinese company deal with all of that via the postal service they use?
2. Or Would I still need a freight forwarder to deal with the clearance/paper work?

With regards to air freight, it isn't necessary you need to have a freight forwarder. The supplier in China can send all the necessary paperwork with the goods. Once in the UK, the customs will contact you for paying the required Duty/Levy or other taxes. After which the goods will be sent to the postal address that you provided.

As an individual you can bring in goods for personal use. Pls speak to a courier or freight forwarding agent to check the limit

Can I import imitation Jwellery to UK from India/china for small e commerce businesses?.Is there any restriction?
Hi Shincy, There are no restrictions with imitation jewellery as such. But some materials might face restrictions. You will have to speak with a freight forwarding agent regarding this. I am not sure of the Amazon selling rules. I assume if you have an EORI number that's fine. Regarding VAT, it's not mandatory to do now. You can do it at a later stage too

If you are looking store the goods here and distribute in the UK, you will need space in the warehouse. Else if you are sending it straight from EU to 1 customer, then you wouldn't need. It can be sent straight to the customers warehouse
