    I bought treal axle housings because I didn't know about the curries. I've got parts coming to build all vanquish internals in them. Super excited for when all the parts get here.

    Awesome I've been thinking about doing this to my Scx10 but wasn't sure if and how it would work only because I haven't seen any videos on this so seeing your video really helps I hope that other manufacturers do this for their axles and set up I love the vanquish but a bit pricey but I know they will last a really long time

  • @markdavis2785
    @markdavis2785 7 лет назад +1

    I know you said it is a lot more complicated to convert SCX10-1 to SCX10-2 axles with CMS, but it would be awesome if you could produce a video to do that conversion. I dont want to give up the 5 scale points of the CMS.
    Great video as usual!

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  7 лет назад +1

      I would do that but that's basically just pulling the part numbers from the SCX10-2 manual and buying the stock parts or any upgrade part you want along the way. I thought about doing both but when I looked at it that way, it seemed that it wouldn't be as helpful to many.

  • @99stangdude
    @99stangdude 7 лет назад

    Really like the fact that someone has come up with the parts to do this type of conversion on a scx10 and be able to keep the axle mounted servo. The only problem I have is the fact that with the cost of all the parts to do this I might as well just go buy a new scx10.2.

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  7 лет назад +1

      +99stangdude yes you could buy a new one, but then you'd have stock axles instead of built curries.

    Hi, for $351 you could buy a brand new scx10 2, instead of two axles.
    Not a very economic way to rc.
    But it's a great video, you really know these axials inside and out.
    😀 👍 👍 👍

    • @HarleyDesignsInc

      +Mikey mike yes you could buy a new one, but it would be a new one with stock axles rather than completely built Curries.

      299$ + 300$ isn't the cost of an scx10ii lmao nice try Harley. That's a CRC JK scx10ii (the most expensive one) plus some Vanquish aluminum beadlocks and some proline or pitbull tires 😂😂.

    Normally l enjoy all your videos, and thank you for them, you have saved me time and money with your wealth on information. The total out lay of what your showing is $............. would have been awesome!
    l added it up and was shocked to say the least. $650+ to me and 98% of everyday RC people, l think would agree is insane
    False economy!
    Ad to that a second hand truck, and it's a four figure headach, just like our NEW to us Deadbolt was a year ago.
    Our Deadbolt is In the four figure rang now (mostly because of the poor quality plastics/electronics etc.), and that's with stock axles.
    The few things that we have added by choice, like 120mm tyres and SSD steel beadlocks is a million times over, a better choice to improve the original SCX, and like you say when set up correctly no noticeably torque twist.
    Heck with a $650 budget you could buy the wheel and tyre package you really want, then go and buy a new budget friendly trail truck which would rule out an Axial.
    Just saying the bleeding obvious, but someone needs to point it out.
    Cheers

    hi there, over the last few days i've been watching as many of your deadbolt vids as i have time too.
    they are informative and good to watch.
    its great you outline the mods and how to do them, but it isn't really clear (to me) how they actually improve the performance.
    im trying to get more flex and stability out of my scx10 deadbolt. last night i saw your budget upgrade with the wraith parts and that should sort out my concerns with its cornering, but will the scx 10 ii upgrade give it more flex? just durability?
    cheers.

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  5 лет назад

      Adding flex isn't something I recommend at all. You do not want excessive flex, a general rule is to have about the same amount as the height of your tires.

  • @71bagarn
    @71bagarn 7 лет назад

    I don't like the position of the rear wheels at all. Looks wrong. What's the reason you wanted to pull the rear axle back? Leverage to put more pressure on the front? Does it give a lot more performance than keeping it stock, or is it a fitment choice? I mean is it not possible without moving it back? Looks like there's room.

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  7 лет назад +2

      +A Baker 71 a slightly longer wheelbase helps for steep climbs without sacrificing too much on turning. I ran this truck in competitions so I wanted to maximize performance.

    Is there a way to add some small pumpkin axels to a scx10 that would be inexpensive? I want a second truck for friends but would like you spend less than the $350 total price of a new scx10 ii kit or $409 rtr. I also want to keep the 45 degree steering. I don't mind the chassis mounted servo either. I'm new to this hobby about 1.5 months ago. I do love it though.

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  7 лет назад

      Sounds like finding a used stock SCX10-2 may be an option. Otherwise, you'll have to hunt down an original SCX, a set of SCX10-2 axles, then buy the front chassis pieces. A stock set of SCX10-2 axles is usually around $140. The rest of the parts could possibly be under $200 if you search. But if you just want stock stuff, buying used may be the best way.

    • @curt248
      @curt248 7 лет назад

      Harley Designs I was hoping there a way to revive an old scx10 to similar to scx2 standards for not much money. It's a bit if a waste of all those old scx10s.

    So you have to run a 12.3 link wheelbase or can you just get the vp 12 link kit

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  7 лет назад

      +Mike Diffenderffer the link kit has to be built for SCX10-2 axles and the only link kit available for them is the 12.3. The VP 12.0 link kit is for the original axles.

    Ok so I'm trying to do exactly this to my 10.1 except I already have the VP CMS bumper mount. Could I just install the 10.2 Curries like normal, or would I have to change things for it to work?

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  6 лет назад +1

      The VP CMS bumper mount will not put the steering link in the same position, and you also need to have a panhard mount as well. Once you have those two things, you may have to make two custom length links to make sure that everything lines up correctly.

    • @rollin18wheels

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  7 лет назад

      +Anthony Redman if you want to go chassis mounted then you’ll need to buy a link set and a Vanquish Chassis amounted servo bracket with panhard mount. You’ll only use the chassis plate even though it comes with the axle side.

    • @HarleyDesignsInc

      Nope. The links are not the same and there is no provision to mount the servo. You have to either convert to CMS or do an axle mounted servo.

    • @lance4906
      @lance4906 6 лет назад

      I see. How about with the links (they seem to be available on the Axial website) and a CMS?
      I'm surprised an axle swap kit doesn't exist yet.

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  6 лет назад

      Yes if you replace everything then it will work. But it will require either a lot of parts or mixing a bunch of aftermarket parts in. I use a link kit in this video as well as an axle mounted servo.
