For a while there i thought oh no! its only the small end that needed service! but now that you uncovered the sludge trap it looks that you got it right in the nick of time!
@mrstupid Hi Geoff :-) she's was lucky to get an oil change at 5000miles but at the time getting regular big top ups. but since I've done the top end she hardly uses a drop of oil, so I will start dropping the oil every 2-3000miles.....honest! :-D Up to now it's only cost me time, and a gasket and seal set. I have also ordered a thread repair kit to do the rocker box bolts. The clutch could do with replacing, and I do like the look at them alloy pressure plates.
@mac163 Hi mac :-) if only! but when I fit the rings I discovered the rod was knackard on the little end I shoved a new bush in it and it gave me about 6000 miles till now. The sludge trap was long overdue, overdue by about 10yrs lol

Luckily I have another rod to go on it, from my last rebuild ('93) when I changed both rods, but only one was knackard.

The worst bit is getting the plug out!! but as you can see it's well worth the effort.
