Rom @romdiprisco, it’s so awesome of you to share here brother, thank you!!! 🤟🏻🙏 You absolutely stepped this remix up about ten notches, 🙅🏻♂️✅BOOM!!! I really do miss Saki, and the fun we all had so many times in the studio, working together…or just goofing off haha!!! His own music was brilliant too ❤️🤟🏻 We should jam something together Rom, it would be a privilege to collaborate with you again ☺️🙏 Take care my friend 🙏❤️ (I mean it 😆)! ❤️hiwatt
@@hiwattmarshall Amazing hearing from you Ken! 😄✌ I really miss those days too, and all the creativity and energy in the studio with you guys, it really was an atmosphere like no other!! ❤ Absolutely brother, it would be incredible and an honour to collab on something with you again! 🙏👍 I'll fire you a message soon!
This is one of my favourite remixes ever, and it absolutely would not have been possible without some brilliant friends, and colleagues 'stepping up to the mic' 🤟🏻🙏🏻 Rom Di Prisco was my ‘remix partner’ on this one, and it’s so very important to recognize everything he brought to this remix. Rom is one of the most talented electronic musicians I’ve ever had the privilege of collaborating with, and his contributions to this DDT mix are unmeasurable. He somehow figured out cEvin's EPIC bass line, and doubled it perfectly with 3, or 4 reinforcement layers…I think he had something like 20 different sequences, and parts for us to choose from for the final mix down! I’m really excited to share, and highlight Rom’s contribution to this track…because we couldn’t have done it without him…thanks Rom ☺🙏🏻 Saki Kaskas (R.I.P.;), was a dear friend, and THE best guitar player I’ve ever worked with!!! He would roll into the studio with a specially designed Marshall JCM900, and we would take the post-tube, direct out into an API 512c, or Neve 1073. He would always turn the input to MAX on the 900, I remember that sound (and smell) of tubes melting hahah!!! I have fond memories of this particular session with Saki, I recall him learning that same bass sequence, and the guitar solo, then doubling both perfectly, not once, but TWICE for that huge stereo rhythm/solo guitar thing 😆🤟🏻 I know we all miss Saki, he was a special soul…not to mention he was like one of the most handsome dudes ever, that literally mastered his craft like no other. We love you Saki ❤🙏🏻 Serena Whitters literally stepped up to the mic, and in the 11th hour no less!!! We knew it was sort of a big deal for anyone to sing in support of someone so legendary…Serena wasn’t slightly intimidated haha, she just asked what we needed, and where to be…what a PRO 🙏🏻 I particularly like the ‘add lib’ stuff she did during the outro, the kind of vocalizations we often hear in today’s productions…that made Serena approx 30 years ahead of our time hahah, BOOM!!! I feel very privileged to be credited for this remix, but I think you can hear clearly, there’s a TEAM of incredible artists contributing to this one! Thank you Rom, Saki, and Serena 🙏🏻🤟🏻☺ ❤hiwatt
This remix is possibly my favorite and most played industrial track of all time. I was in high school and just beginning to figure out industrial music when this came out. The fire had already been lit, but then I heard this track and it was like a powder keg. What a treat to have this little spotlight shone on it after all these years. Wonderful to read about all the collaborative work that went into it.
probably my favorite remix of all time too. very rarely do i prefer to listen to remixes over the original, but this one is such a banger. i've always thought this was how rodent was truly meant to sound. thank you so much for sharing the background of how it was put together, what an awesome thing that must have been to be a part of!
"Now is the only thing thats real"........that line is stuckt onto my mind all the fucking way sence i was 16... know im 49!! I love SP all the way. They really made a true spot in the history of music! Nice remix 👏
Been loving this since it's original release! On regular rotation in my Subaru. I really wish that the American Memory Project would have finished the full-length that was hinted at during their show in Seattle with Ohgr. Ogre was himself was going to be doing some vocals! William please!!!!!!!!!
Fantastic! One of my favorite tracks. So many people hated on Rabies, due to "outside influences", lol. It was my entry into the world of Skinny Puppy, and has the dearest place in my heart.
F*ck´em ! "Rabies " was the perfect album for Skinny Puppy att. "Outside nodiness " and shite guitars here and there only made it better . B*RRRRRRRap On !!!!
It's one of my earlier faves; like some of the new stuff too. Still, there's another part of me that fell in love with their early stuff. Tracks such as Assimilate, Film and Far Too Frail can never be duplicated. Wow. Time flies.
Skinny Puppy "Rodent" Lyrics: Level edge backs against the ledge no knives the stone hard eyes Without the longing or fear that it would disappear they cling on nuturing Never ending obsessions on the table lines needed walls cover tips the balance Don't touch me wiped out cornering mouthed the word money head Shake handshake out to get a long way from corrosion pushes closer To the edge wired not connected peeling back plastic wrap tinted green And all illusion existing caught up crossfire trading tall tales where Are you going where do you fail what's that mean back and forth side By side loose knot weave keep it up altogether or whatever that means passing Underneath the trespass don't get to close mouth the word your money if I Fade I may and I want to fade away all that I do is pray that you will be There too if this were trying to deceive some minds what the hell Do you got to say? altogether
Me too @garycrawford9645, thanks for sharing my friend 🤟🏻🙏🏻 '66 is mine, and SP is still one of my all time favourite bands!!! Have a great week, and please stay safe! -hw
The only 'problem' with Rabies is that the stuff Al worked on sounds almost more like a Puppy/Ministry side project. This remix really captures that Puppy identity without losing Al's contributions. It really sounds more like he is contributing to a Puppy song, as it should be. (That said, an Al/cEvin/Dwayne collab could have been incredible as a side project.)
awesome new version and video of one of my favorite Skinny Puppy songs. I noticed the clip in the start of the white truck with surrounding officers is from an INSANE chase and pursuit that spanned I believe 2 hours if I recall correctly, hopping from stolen vehicle to stolen vehicle. Really crazy; that's besides the point but just thought it was interesting to point out this is a wicked video and mix of Rodent!
an impressionable 12-13 year old around the release time of Remix Dys Temper, i remember the commercial featured your remix of Rodent. Instant purchase, and absolutely formative.
Such a killer mix. I've listened to Remix DysTemper so many times I hear the Opium mix of Addiction playing in my head as soon as this song was done playing :-D
The acid in this!!! In your face banger, making a 34 year old track (!!!) sounding like fresh off the mill. More please! Do a Selected Works album with the best SP tracks in remixes true to the original but delivering 2023 production and polish!Thaaaannnnnnkssssss!
Another glorious surprise for the Skinny Puppy collection! Thanks so much, Ken! There are so many SP recordings that I wish could be released once they've made a pass through your studio!
I had to wait an excruciating four days before I could listen to this mix, as I was away for the holidays and I didn't have my good headphones with me. I knew even before listening that this mix deserves better than laptop speakers. Great work. Thanks for making another wonder version of one of my favourite songs!
Awesome!!! Nice to see you working with ogre. Was really hoping you were going to be running sound on the first leg of the final tour. Would have loved to meet you! Nice job on the track, one of my favorite puppy songs ever!
Love ya Ken, thanks for the shoutout brother! 🙏 And thank you for sharing those great memories of Saki! ❤🤘 What an awesome video! 🔥
Thanks for your work here Rom!
So glad to learn about you & the other folks that made this top tier remix come to life!
Cheers!

A brilliant update to the original without losing its spirit. Well done indeedd!

Wow the processing on "what's that mean" is very cool!

LET US BUILD A BETTER MOUSETRAP
yes yes. now is the only thing that is real.
"Now is the only thing thats real"........that line is stuckt onto my mind all the fucking way sence i was 16... know im 49!!
I love SP all the way.
They really made a true spot in the history of music! Nice remix 👏
The first puppy song i ever heard.
These guys are in there early 60s and making the best music around.
assimilate was mine, on the college radio back in the day. Hunted them down and went old by mail ordering "records" when I was in high school.
It's like adding sprinkles to an already delicious cake! Great job, to all involved! Really enjoyed the experience.
Chocolaty sprinkles! 😁

Can't get enough of this funky industrial shit!!!! More more more collaborations more remixes....❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
This was mentioned by SP new guitarist in an interview.
Ogre is doing the same routine I do in the mirror after I brush my teeth.
it's ... kind of sobering that this song is almost 40 years old ... like me
Fantastic! One of my favorite tracks. So many people hated on Rabies, due to "outside influences", lol. It was my entry into the world of Skinny Puppy, and has the dearest place in my heart.
Me too
Rabies is one of my favorite albums because of the outside influences.
goofy reason to hate it, thats only on 3 tracks and they were still SP tracks first and foremost
Wow. Time flies.
This mix is so badass... I must have played it a thousand times at parties back in the day and 50,000 since. Cheers bros!
Skinny Puppy "Rodent" Lyrics:
Level edge backs against the ledge no knives the stone hard eyes
Without the longing or fear that it would disappear they cling on nuturing
Never ending obsessions on the table lines needed walls cover tips the balance
Don't touch me wiped out cornering mouthed the word money head
Shake handshake out to get a long way from corrosion pushes closer
To the edge wired not connected peeling back plastic wrap tinted green
And all illusion existing caught up crossfire trading tall tales where
Are you going where do you fail what's that mean back and forth side
By side loose knot weave keep it up altogether or whatever that means passing
Underneath the trespass don't get to close mouth the word your money if I
Fade I may and I want to fade away all that I do is pray that you will be
There too if this were trying to deceive some minds what the hell
Do you got to say? altogether
Ken, I just discovered you recently. I'm now 55 and SP were one of my favourite bands. Thank you for all this. Brilliant.
Me too @garycrawford9645, thanks for sharing my friend 🤟🏻🙏🏻 '66 is mine, and SP is still one of my all time favourite bands!!!
Have a great week, and please stay safe!

Loved this song in LBP3

this is a wicked video and mix of Rodent!
That guitar is dialed in!!!!!!!!

The little snap when Ogre turns off the camera at end is a nice touch!
All those little details!
Alwazys the cure for my tinnitus! Thanks!

an impressionable 12-13 year old around the release time of Remix Dys Temper, i remember the commercial featured your remix of Rodent. Instant purchase, and absolutely formative.

Love it! Has more room than the original nicely polished too. Certainly an awesome refresher.
