    This popped up again, so I watched it again. I love Rocket Stoves, too. But there more for heating, and you can make hotwater with them and some copper tubing. HI Prayed you had a HAPPY EASTER! 🙏❤️

    Just a quickie - could you use a cast iron pot to do the same thing and could you fire clay in it? Awesome build as usual Luke!

      You can definitely use an iron vessel for your retort
      I just made biochar from bones in a Dutch oven.
      I think you could fire a piece of pottery inside, but the results will be unpredictable compared to a commercial kiln.

    This may be a stupid question, but what are you going to do with the "black gold"?

      Luke said they'll dig it into their garden and also mix it with animal feed (on their other channel: www.youtube.com/@OffGridLifePortugal)

    Luke, sir, would you kindly wear your N94, N95, or respirator when you do your jobs that make fine particulate mater fly about you? I have asthma and it kills me to see our strapping young Luke expose your lungs to air-toxins beyond ciggies. You are so vibrant and thrive there on your homestead... your beloveds depend on you, eh? 💗💖💕

    Is it like charcoal

    • @OffGriddingOnAShoestring
      @OffGriddingOnAShoestring  Год назад +1

      A bit different.. biochar is baked at higher temperatures so it burns off all the volatiles and just leaves a carbon shell
