We have it set up to where the pygas exhaust runs into the fire box. When we were cooking this batch of charcoal, there was a lot of water in the logs, so it took longer to cook and the pygas wouldn’t burn continuously. However, in our newer batches, we have been using the exhaust to burn the firebox
@@CannonBottomCreationsI was wondering the same. You obviously piped the exhaust down into the fire box, but those top pipes don't have shut-off valves to force it down in the video. Did you add something afterwards to divert the py gas?
We place fairly light steel plates on top of the steam pipes, to push the gas down. The valves on the bottom can be opened and closed based on if we want the gas in the fire box. The steel plates need to be low weight, so they can blow off in case of excess pressure. So you don’t have a bomb.

How do you divert the gas; is it sufficient just to close the valve at the bottom or do you also block the top of the two steam pipes?

All the steel plates do is rest on top of the pipes. Do not weld them down

Yes it does. Once all the moisture is removed from the wood, then you can ignite the gas
