Correction: The real reason Buick survived the bankruptcy was Chinese demand. Buick is considered prestigious in China (partly because the last emperor was chauffeured in one) and the Chinese account for at least 80% of the brand's global sales. Heck, most of GM's China sales are Buick models - they do sell Chevrolets and Cadillacs there but the demand seems to be for Buicks!
GM has stated in the past that Buick is targeting Lexus, Cadillac is targeting BMW. Most car magazines compare these cars against those two brands. Not always, but more often than not. if you want this car, get it soon - production ends in Canada on June 30, 2017 in just a few days, and then when inventory sells out it is gone. The 2018 model is all new and comes from Germany.
One of the primary competitors to this vehicle is the Volkswagen CC sedan, not necessarily an Audi A4. I ended up getting the 2017 Regal GS over the CC. The fit and finish are the same as well as the quality of materials and they both have same size engines and both designs are from similar generations, around 2010. The Regal GS is a better value than similarly priced VW CC especially with the HIPER front struts which virtually eliminate torque steer, electronically adjustable chassis (GS and Sport Mode) along with Brembo front brake package with 20 inch rims and Pirelli PZero tires.
@@carbuzzcom AWD was an option on the GS; most sold by far were FWD. The differences between a GS and fully-loaded base w/ premium packages (also available with AWD as an option), really comes down to a matter of taste. I personally wasn't a fan of the fanged front-end on the GS, nor the ebony-only interior choice. So I went with the a decked-out base 2.0T, with the neutral / mocha interior. I don't see the GS as "better" in a general sense, but instead appealing to a segment buyers with a more sport-car enthusiast taste.
The torque is 295, and horses is 259. The ilx of 2017 comes with 201 with 180ft pounds of torque it couldn't keep up with this Buick with norbits fat wife driving the Buick. (I love Acuras too TL was better). This trim doesn't get the respect it deserves witch is a good thing. The A4 of that years customer ratings are horrible, the cost of repairs you can't compare, and the gas mileage as well as performance. This car is a better pick all around compared to the two you named. Good vid, next one id like to hear more information to support your opinions. Looking forward to the next one .
What happened to the oil & volt gauges that used to be in the centre screen ? Not very sporty without them ; just average . Good looking car with the Buick Spear .
I recently purchased a new 16 Regal Turbo as a DD, it is a very nice car everything fits just right and the size and performance is great for a DD. You are correct the rear seat is snug but it is fine for my use - typically only myself and one other passenger. I do want to make a note that the HP you quoted was correct but the torque is actually 295 lb ft. Other than that great review.
Thank you for the correct. BTW...I went by the manufacturer's window sticker. But glad to hear you're enjoying the Regal. Yeah, it's a great car that I personally don't think gets enough recognition. BTW...have you seen the next generation Regal: www.carbuzz.com/news/2016/12/8/This-Is-The-New-Buick-Regal-Just-Ignore-The-Weird-Badge-7736782/
Well, it's more fun to drive than a Camry (so is just about anything), but it's smaller than the Optima and Fusion. So it really boils down to what your personal car needs are.
Have you seen the video's of the 2018 Regal models? One looks like a CUV, the other is a hatchback. Not sure I like either one, at least at this point in time.
I like it - it is a more roomy hatchback/sedan and the wagon has more space than all Buick's except the Enclave. For those of us who like better handling cars but want more space to carry, these fit the bill - otherwise you are buying a Subaru or SUV for someone else. I am absolutely against getting another SUV (used to own one, don't anymore - own an old 2006 Saab 9-3 with 156,000 miles on it).
Sadly, Pontiac simply couldn't find enough buyers. Buick, ironically enough, became ridiculously popular in China of all places. So you could say that China saved Buick.
I am disappointed with this Regal, it is bulky from inside, noisy cabin, poor workmanship, lacking power on the move, oil started leaking just after 32k miles, humming from transmission, chromed parts lost luster, unstable steering. GM disappointed its customers
You can't reasonable compare this to the Germans. It's competitors are more appropriately the Accord, Mazda 6, Camry etc. Comparing this to an A4 or the 3 series is preposterous, imo.
I own a Buick Regal 2015 Premium 1 with the AWD. Take a look at the A4, BMW 320, Lexus IS or the Mercedes C300 (which my wife owned for six years until she changed to the GLK 250. You will see that from a pure stats point of view (size, performance) all these cars are within a hair of each other. The Buick is not quite a nicely finished but check any review and it ranks right up there with regards to driving experience as well as the stats. Is badge envy and a slightly more posh interior really worth 25% more money? Buick is on the right track, their mission statement is affordable luxury, something that I think they have hit the nail on the head with (and yes the next gen Regal is even nicer!).

I bought a used Buick Regal Premier Ii and I am very happy with it! It handles great and the power from the 2.0 4 Cylinder Turbo is very good.

This is my first car! This is everything I want in a car luxury/performance wise.
Just bought a preowned one waiting for it to be delivered Monday!! Can’t wait

We have a 2016 regal T...this car is quick!!..Good review ..
Wow, you guys at CarBuzz don't take a break..you post every day, and more importantly, you post very good videos, so kudos to you!
Thank you! It's a lot of hard work but it's well worth it :-)
My dad has a 2015 Regal GS. Its a sweet car nice & comfortable. Very similar to this one
Also peep that 55 chevy in the background ;)
Yeah, but your dad's Regal has AWD and a different front end. Point being, your dad's Regal is better than this one.

Buick Regal = Opel Insignia
(in germany)

Good job you know your Buicks will buy one here in PA. ! .
the stats aren't right the 2.0 fwd weights 3600, the engine puts out 295 torque
The most helpful review to date!
I so love this car and I will have one next year. Or the lacrosse either one is great.
So I am considering picking one of these used, what would you say is a good used price?

Yes the forthcoming Regal looks very nice!
Have you driven the 08-10 ss cobalt? If so, how would you compare that lnf engine to the one in the regal?
Its: Buick Regal / Opel Insignia / Vauxhall Insignia or Holden Insignia
Carbuzz, you consider this car better than a "regular" brand? Like camry, optima, fusion etc?
Well, it's more fun to drive than a Camry (so is just about anything), but it's smaller than the Optima and Fusion. So it really boils down to what your personal car needs are.
It is more premium, performance more refined, and rides & handles better than any of those.

Buick is so Buitiful😃 I want a Buick Enclave!😆
I would have preferred Pontiac to have survived the GM purge. In my opinion Pontiac made more interesting cars than Buick
Sadly, Pontiac simply couldn't find enough buyers. Buick, ironically enough, became ridiculously popular in China of all places. So you could say that China saved Buick.
All mine leaked in water and out _______(enter fluid here). just no luck with gm
Yovany Mora and
From a historical standpoint Buick existed before GM. Buick became GM in 1908 or something like that.
Yovany Mora you can't be serious man
In 4 years we went from best sedan GM builds today, to “sedan”?
Just saying the Vauxhall insignia looks better than opel and buick
You must really love that Griffin emblem, because that is literally the only visual design difference between them. (*except for Buick's grill)
Buick used to be the best in NASCAR 1980s and 1990. Buick needs to get back into NASCAR.
no
👍
not much info other than your opinion
I provide engine details, performance, fuel economy, features, trims....and more.

I think the better comparison is to Acura, but yeah, the A4 (at least the lower trims) are competitors, especially for those on more of a budget.

Shell Casing yes, yes you can. it's a rebranded Opel insignia, which is a direct competitor to the a4, 3series BMW in Germany.
Um... Regal is a European car. It is just re-branded Opel..
