I pretty much agree with everything you’ve said here, bar the headcanon stuff (although I can definitely see why your headcanon is what it is). As a horror nut, I saw the Alien franchise quite a while ago, but I’ve only seen them the one time. I totally agree with you that they should keep making movies in this franchise in this style, since I enjoyed Romulus so much.
great review! i mostly agree. this movie was so excellent on so many levels from sound effects and soundtrack to visual effects, pacing, the tension, the acting etc. i also agree the choice to use prosthetics and deepfake vfx for ian holmes/ ash's face. it mostly looked uncanny but tbh this and the fact that the xenomorph shouldve been a bit scarier/ the movie needed more time with just one xeno are the only things i wish were done differently. im not so sure about alien earth but fede alvarez said that he could imagine doing an AVP movie with dan trachtenberg who did prey which i also like, and now hes doing predator badlands. either way romulus is what this franchise needed and deserved, for sure one of the best movies ive seen in recent years
