  • This is a shortened version of Suzanne sung by Neil Diamond. English and Chinese lyrics are embedded into the video. The video was shot in mid October. The footage was shot while driving along the seashore at the eastern section of Seaside Park in Bridgeport Connecticut. The latter portion of the video shows Bridgeport Harbor and Pleasure Beach which is on the other side of the Harbor. The Pequonnock River empties into Bridgeport Harbor. This setting describes a number of things mentioned in the lyrics such as the river, the harbor and the boats that go by. Also the "tea and oranges that come all the way from China" are a part of this setting because there are many students from China that attend the University Bridgeport. The University of Bridgeport abuts both Seaside Park and Bridgeport Harbor.

This song version sounds even better under a starry sky at Seaside Park while looking out over Long Island Sound as an occasional boat can be seen passing by in the distance.

What a beautiful place you have there - Seaside Park. I now know why you love it. It’s a relaxing feeling to go around driving, walking or just sitting on a bench with a good book and cool music. The song goes very well with the scenery, I like it 😍🎶

I am glad you liked the video and the song. "Driving, walking or just sitting on a bench with a good book and cool music" is what many people do in the non-summer months ,weather permitting, when they come to Seaside Park. Watch my video of "November Rain". I videoed it while sitting in my car at Seaside Park. Listen carefully to the lyrics such as: "Everybody needs some time alone". I think you might appreciate them also.

Great video, DrinkingStar. I love your Seaside Park videos; this was a great song to pair this video to, and watching this on a cold winter day, I can't wait for summer and the beach. I hope someday to see you at Seaside Park, and to talk more about your memories of Sylvan Beach, Seaside Park, and when life was good in Bridgeport.

Brogan Hogan Hi Brogan Hagan. I would be glad some day to chat about Bridgeport in the "good old days". I am just west of the skate park. If you see a white Chrysler Sebring hardtop convertible, then you know I am around.I will be in my car or, weather permitting, sitting on the beach south of my car if I am not walking or swimming the beach.

I don't think Neil Diamond ever released a shortened version... Sounds like the middle of this song was just cut out. Kinda ruins it, in my opinion, it's the best part of the song! :)

I had to shorten the song to fit into the video. Video ends at Bridgeport Harbor where the Pequonnock River meets the sea. Where they meet is where the video ends. "Suzanne take you down to her place by the the river". The ride in the car is symbolic of being taken there. I wanted to use the entire song but I could not find the correct video imagery to make it work in the video. In the description, I explained the Chinese reference in the video.
There is the Judy Collins version which I did not use because there were lyrics that did not fit the image content of my video. The Diamond version last some of the lyrics in Collins version. Did you also think Neil ruined the song because of the missing lyrics?
If your know the story behind the song, then, by the same logic, the video should have been made in Montreal along with the St Lawrence River.
