  • The NHS is trialling an electric headset which aims to reduce symptoms of depression.
The device uses electric pulses to increase brain activity, and medical trials suggest the equipment could work well.
If approved, the treatment could provide an alternative for those hoping to come off anti-depressants.

The ignorance in this chat is unbeleivable, depression is a chronic illness. People who are physically fit and healthy also suffer from it.

Only certain types of depression are chronic. Others transient. It depends on the cause of the depression. For example organic depression, traumatic life events, etc.

So wait, the specialist is worried about if it cures the depression? Drugs don't cure depression! They place the chemicals in the brain often replacing your depression with a dependency on the drug... I tried anti-depressants and after a year of bouncing from 1 drug to the next which was painful! I'd love to give this a try when it comes out.

Agreed. The opposing view was that it has to be keep being used but that's what people on anti-depressants do. They have to keep taking it to see the benefits.
