    Please do not EVER use the tip of a sharp knife to "pry" anything. This will absolutely ruin your knife and is also really really dangerous. Use a very sturdy (oversize) flathead screwdriver or other tool for this part.

    • @11dallis
      @11dallis 2 года назад +148

      She is actually not prying at that point. I thought the same but then I realized she was just cutting a circle. She pried it open with the spoon.

    I usually drink the juice after refrigerating the coconut. The way I’ve learned to do it is to let him k for the 3 dots on the coconut. There is one dot that’s soft enough to poke through using a butter knife. After the juice is done, hold the coconut in your hand with eh the dots either facing your thumb or pinky. Hold coconut them slam it against the ground. It should crack open.

    Don't ever open a coconut like this especially with that kind of knife. You'll end up damaging the blade and tip with the banging and the prying and it's very slippery. And do not point objects (be it sharp or not) towards yourself when prying, you'll puncture a hole on your skull before the coconut. It's better to buy one of those thick meat cleavers if you do not have those long and strong blades (I forgot how it's called in english. But it's like the sword used when clearing thick and dense plants in movies.) and to wrap thin stripes of rubber (electrical tape, if there isn't) or broad string/cloth around the handle. Never open one with a kitchen knife. Most often than not, you wouldn't need to pry the coconut open with a proper knife and technique. It's just a sharp smack after you remove the fiber and the juice will flow. Just remember to put a basin or container underneath to capture the juice.

    As a southeast asia people, we usually open coconut using machete. It’s quite hard to open it by using usual knife.

    That was so hazardous! Damn! I think I'll stick to the method that my mom taught me. Make a hole in the eye of the coconut, collect the water, draw a circular line with water over the shell then hit it with the back of the knife. Easy peasy!
