These guys and gals are indeed innovative when it comes to cutting the young coconut. I have seen at least 4 different ways of serving the young coconut when I was in Thailand a few months back but this one blew me off. By the way don't go for the chilled one kept in ice. The coconut water tastes just like ice water. The taste of the room temperature young coconut water and the flesh is just amazing. Don't miss this street treat when you are in Thailand.

..been using the French method since then..
I have done "open station' at breakfast banquet with many different fruits from melons to peaches to kwis to avacados to oranges..
It has been a useful technique throughout my career professionally..
But never on a green Coconut!

The young coconut or green coconut its the other way around. Plenty of water and little pulp which is soft and easy to eat after you finish drinking the water. The coconut water is actually a cocktail of essential minerals and lot of potassium and a substitute for sports drinks like gatorade. But be careful with your portions because of the potassium content. You may have to be resuscitated with CPR if you do. Your heart beats at an average of 70 times per minute because of the fine balance between the sodium and potassium ion concentration in your blood.
