Funny thing about “Nude” is that they tried recording it during the “O.K Computer” sessions and they didn’t really liked where it was going, so they end up trying it a few more times on different albums before they got to the one we know now, but it’s crazy to believe that it took 10 years to record one track

Like others have said, Moon Shaped Pool is a beautifully tragic record that you must react to. He wrote it after his divorce and later that year his ex wife, Rachel Owen, died of cancer. A re-issue was dedicated to Rachel. Also the live version of this (In Rainbows From the Basement) is a must listen. They changed some track ordering and included songs from previous albums. It's astonishing to watch them play with the accompaning live video.

I love the drums on Videotape. A bunch of youtubers have made videos on what's going on with that and why it works so well. The piano is syncopated ahead of the beat, and since we hear that to start the track, we use it to gauge the percussive rhythm, where the downbeat is, etc., when that's just an illusion. And so when the drums establish the real beat later, everything feels off. Essentially what we think we're hearing is different than what the band's playing, and that just totally reflects the lyrics of the track, and the concept of one's internal experiences/memories vs what a bystander could gleam from watching a video of someone's life.

If a soul legend like Marvin Gaye or Aretha Franklin would have sung "Nude" 50 years ago, it would have gone down as one of the most stone-cold legendary tracks of all time. Because a skinny white boy from England sang it, it's obscure. But god damn. That's one of the most soul-driven songs I've ever heard in my life.

One reason this album didn’t take up more flashy, hypey room in the commercial world was because Radiohead had basically left the mainstream music industry behind. They released it themselves, did this unprecedented thing of letting people download the album for whatever price they felt was fair, and basically did what they wanted. The album still topped the charts. Not only was this album historic musically, it was historically disruptive for the music industry.

Great reaction, glad you enjoyed it. To many people, including myself, it is their favourite, though I still can't get into House of Cards, typically skip it. I wouldn't describe Videotape as "a very sweet little ending to the album". To me it's a pretty dark funereal ending, transcending also. There are some interesting live versions of it as well with very different approaches to the song, as duo between Thom and Johnnie Greenwood, even as a piano solo piece. It very much breaks with the general musical mood of the album even though the lyrics of many songs on it are in fact pretty dark as well, but kept pretty light by the music.

I just honestly can't pick a fave album with this band, I love every album for different reasons!
Some of their b-sides are my fave songs of all time :)
Technically not a b-side, because they released it like 20 years later, but there is a video "Radiohead - True Love Waits - 12/5/95" on youtube at the luna theatre, one of the very first time they ever played that song, and I must have listened to it thousands of times by now!
Bangers and Mash is another song that sounds straight up punk, and is a b-side, and totally rocks! That one is in one of the live at the basement sets though, so you'll likely hear it in your journeys!
"Fog" has a weird little special b-side that I really love. The trickster, polyehetlene, and so on.
They could make another 10 albums out of b-sides and those albums would be fantastic albums in their own right :)

There are some really special songs on this album, but I prefer OK Computer as a whole. Nude, All I Need, Weird Fishes, and Videotape are the stand out songs for me. But there is a reason that OK Computer and In Rainbows are considered their two greatest works. Both are special in their own ways. I think The Bends has some really great vocals as well. If you haven't listened to it, I'd recommend it.

Your ears don’t deceive you. Do yourself a favor and watch the performance of this record of From The Basement series. They can actually play. The since you are a fan, watch the Kid A Paris Canal TV. They can break your heart, or put it back together.
….. oh, and at the time it was released, they just put it out without notice and it was free, or pay what you want.
….and one more thing, if Videotape made you curious, watch the Secret rhythm of Videotape breakdown of the complexity. And if your still game, watch The Slate breakdown of Pyramid Song…wrong record, This bad does the most eff’d up composing.
Favorite record of theirs…impossible. Each song a galaxy within the universe that they paint.

Bodysnatchers feels punk? LOL you need to listen to punk music, because it's not even close to sounding like that.

In the uncut version I said it sounded a lot like something I would hear from Green Day, who I would consider punk, but maybe I need to listen to more!
