Being a performer at Disney World in Festival of The Lion King, I must say first and foremost, it’s beautiful to see this story being told in multiple parks. The interpretation of this show is sooo beautiful. There’s more room for storytelling in this version. Our version is more on the musical side and stunts. It satisfies the pallet for guests who can appreciate variety. The acting and the singing is phenomenal in this. I hope to catch it live tomorrow while I’m in town. Congratulations, cast! Keep telling the story!
If you saw this in person, and understood anything about quality theatrical performances or singing, there is just no way you would say this was cheesy or low budget. Believe me I thought the same when I skipped through the RUclips video briefly before my trip. Upon seeing it I was completely floored though.
Update: We watched the show and absolutely loved it! I cried because it's what I do when I hear Circle of Life. I recommend it to anyone who is a fan of Lion King, Disney theater, superb performances. You won't be disappointed. 🦁
Negative comments CLEARLY DO NOT Have any knowledge for theater, dance and excellence in singing! This was NOT low budget at all. The whole tale was flawless and they all sounded INCREDIBLE!!! Loved watching this!!
It wasn't low budget but mickey and the magical clearly had a HIGHER budget because it had a wider range of vocalists and a more elaborate technical setup
Hmmm... the audience loved the show. I loved the show. So it was good. It is great to have live performances back in the park. I also loved the energy of the camera person.
Tale of the Lion King should have a better home within Adventureland while the Fantasyland Theater would be home to other cool and exciting musicals with lots of Disney characters like those from Coco, Moana, Frozen, Encanto, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Hercules, Mulan, and other classic Disney movies!
This feels more like a story for the Royal Theatre; the actors are good but it doesn’t have the theatrical quality to it (basically looks budget which I guess is what Disney was aiming for lol)
I agree!
There is no way y'all prefer the Magical Map over this... I loved Magical Map but this show absolutely destroys it. From the vocals to the costumes to the energy level. This is such a large upgrade I'm honestly surprised Disney paid for it.
I won't compare this to Maps only because there's zero similarities. I agree with you, the vocals alone blew me away, the costumes are amazing. This is theater. And at the end they got a standing O. Going to see it again this weekend and enjoy a chicken curry potato and Prideland Punch 😍🤩🦁
Nah. Magical maps way better. You cannot compare the vocals as both shows have amazing singers. Costumes are also on the same level of authenticity to their films. Magical map did however have a better story and song lineup because it celebrated all of Disney and it had a much more elaborate set with way more impressive moving parts
These Lion King performers are talented and have beautiful voices, but the show does not bring my imagination to life. It's too small of a production for such a big stage that can do so much. Mickey and the Magical Map featured costumes to physically embody the characters like they came right of their movies (vs only nice clothes on people who are playing animals); a stage with so many different technological tricks and surprises (vs a screen with 3 small staircases); and had live singing of a variety of musical genres from multiple films (vs just one film). A big bonus of Magical Map was that it had a large, diverse cast that represented characters of different cultures from around the world (vs people wearing non-animal-like clothes to play animals from 1 story in Africa). Not to mention that we already have the Lion King performed on Broadway and in Disney World, Disneyland Hong Kong, and Disneyland Paris. I say move the Tale of the Lion King to a different location for others to enjoy (if not replace it) and give the Fantasyland Theater a large production of a different story. Plus I think it's a sign that it wasn't hard for my family and me to find seats for this show, whereas it was packed for Mickey and the Magical Map as well as for Aladdin and Frozen in Disney's California.
While it’s a disappointing downgrade from previous musical stage shows that came before like the magical map show, the Snow White musical, and other shows, a better version of Tale of the Lion King would fit well within a Royal Pridelands Theater within Adventureland while the Fantasyland Theater would get new shows that should be an upgrade!
I don’t think you understand it’s a cultural thing? Are you going to complain about there only being Japanese people in a Japanese cultural show or what?
@@thulsu Are you just re asking the same question I asked him lol? Uh no because it’s about English people and English people are in the show so it makes sense?? I’m not sure what you think my answer was going to be if I literally asked the question to someone else already lol
Have you watched it live? We absolutely loved it. Maps was my favorite (and AAMS) but honestly this was so beautiful to me. Very theatrical in the way the story was told. Just my 2 cents. Enjoy the Parks! 😊
@@GreyM900 what are you implying? I am pro diversity and am questioning why it is absent from this skit. And what exactly is "Black Culture"? Why are you being divisive?
@@DeanDewnuffun Your comment about black blackity blackness is not a good look. Is there something wrong with a continuation of media showing black peoples and their culture? low budget an boring sorry Disney, i get what your trying to do but if i was a first timer in Disneyland, i expect the best, you usually set the bar, this is a big miss

I saw this yesterday and i had chills the whole time, i even cried a little. Just beautiful
Gorgeous! Loved watching the smaller version at DCA. I can't wait to see it next weekend! 🦁😍😭❤

absolutely, beautiful show
Some people are too focused on comparing it to other Disney shows.
Yup, they have no clue. This was SO well done.

this choreography is tremendous! bravo to the choreographer, the dancers, and the entire production. beautiful.

Just bring mickey and the magical map back!!!
Yeah! I’d love to see that show make a comeback!
unfortunately that show will never comeback :(
I saw this yesterday. Please bring back Mickeys magical map. I saw a lot of guest walk out. I will not be seeing this again. Sorry.
BRING BACK MICKEY AND THE MAGICAL MAP
I thought Disney was committed to diversity? There is no diversity in the cast attempting this performance.

Oh heck no. That show is a joke and butchered the music and turned it into a circus like show.
I agree
