If Kerr misses, game goes to overtime and even if they lose there’s still a game 7, if paxson misses the series goes to a game 7. If Ray or Kyrie miss the series is over and they lose. Not to mention that Kerr was averaging 4 ppg that series and paxson 7 respectively. Hardly comparable to Ray Allen let alone fucking Kyrie Irving💀

I still remember that game. Horace Grant had such an off game-kept fumbling the ball, having it slip out of his grip on layup after layup (1-footers). I remember thinking. “Come on, Horace, you can get it this time,” on that last possession, thinking he’d be clutch for the tie and OT. But I was wrong in the best way possible. He was clutch on the magnificent 3-pt assist to Paxson for the win.

A big reason videos like this are valuable is that they articulate what so many people who watched both Jordan and Lebron play have known in their guts but couldn’t necessarily articulate. Showing that Jordan, despite not being the one to hit the shot in game 6, absolutely made the play happen with some extremely smart basketball, basically getting Kerr WIDE open.

I would add that Jordan hit the game winning buzzer beater in game one of the 1997 finals after Malone missed 2 free throws that would’ve given Utah the lead. That’s why Marv Albert called it Jordan time because he had delivered time and time again in those moments and why the Jazz decided to double team him and force him to pass to someone else. Kerr unlike Pippen made the clutch shot giving the Bulls the lead and Pippen knocked the inbounds pass loose and Kukoc picked up the loose ball and dunked it to seal the victory. Stockton had hit a clutch 3 to put Utah in the finals.

This would slow down the bias we see now. See that 29 points Lebron put up in the first half against the Nuggets in the playoff's. Right before the half a ref patted Lebron on the back because of the 29 points. Yea no bias there. If putting a team together i would not even take Lebron with my last pick.

    • @xsjado_anon
      @xsjado_anon Год назад

@jeromegarner7196 I agree with pretty much everything you've said, but two things:
      1. Pistol Pete retired at the end of the season after Bird called him washed to his face.
      2. Kareem is top 10 all time at the worst, maybe top 5 - McHale is an all time great, one of the most efficient pure scorers ever with potentially the prettiest fade-away of all time, but he's not on the same level at Kareem, it's not even close. Kareem was the best player on the Lakers for at least one of their rings, arguably 2, McHale was never Boston's top man, and in 87 Bird nearly put a beaten down Celtics on his back and carried them past Showtime with McHale hurt alongside others on his team, only missing a crucial win due to a lucky missed freethrow - without that luck winning 87 practically on his own would have cemented his legacy as Magic's better, but alas.
Like I said though, I don't think your choice of GOAT is bad or invalid, I just have my own choice. One day AI might be able to replicate versions of historic players from some insane futurist analysis of old footage, then we may get something close to an answer - if so I'd be confident in my man Bird surprising everyone.

    Clinching game 4-7 0-2
    Facing elimination 3-3 0-1
    NBA Finals 3-7 0-7
Fact of LeBron's Clutch : '0%' in Big games(Clinching game, Facing eliminations, NBA Finals)
As a side note about the '93 Finals, in the 4th quarter of Game 6 of the '93 Finals, Chicago players had a hard time scoring, scoring only 12 points. Except for John Paxson's final three points, only Jordan scored all nine of them.
Also, as a side note to the '97 Finals, the spot where Jordan passed to Kerr is the spot where Jordan hit the buzzer-beater in Game 1 of the '97 Finals.
Stockton remembered the spot, and when Jordan caught the ball there again in Game 4 of the 97 Finals, he double-teamed Jordan, stealing Jordan's shot and allowing Utah to take winning of the game.
In Game 6 of 97 Finals, Jordan predicted that Stockton would help double-teamed if he caught the ball in the same spot again and told S.Kerr to be ready. The play worked.

How could some even be top 5 at 4-6 and literally melted down in every playoff loss from 06’-11’? Not to mention he literally missed the playoffs his first two seasons in the weakest East since the 1950’s and one of those years he had an all star teammate 😅

Jordan still had another game if those bail out shots missed lebron was on the brink when ray and kyrie hit those shots. Jordan never was in a game 7 for his rings

Great video. Another great clip is when Lebron had Curry on an island in Game 1 of the 2018 Finals and he passed the ball to George Hill. Lebron having Curry alone at the top with the game on the line. He could rise up and shoot a jumper or put his head down and bully his way to the rim. Lebron is 6'9" to Curry who is 6'3". But he chose to pass the ball to George Hill. Who was under the basket, being guarded by all NBA defender Klay Thompson, a guy five inches taller than Hill. After the game, Lebron claimed he made the right basketball play. Might be the dumbest thing I've ever heard in my life.

I often point this moment out to Bron groupies as another example of how Bron not clutch. He was having game of his life and chose to pass to role player instead of attacking a smaller player smh. Not to mention him pouting on bench prior to OT then only scoring 2 points in OT in garbage time once Warriors had taken control 🤦🏽‍♂️

That conversation between MJ and Kerr reminds of Kobe and Pau. The epitome of true Leadership that Lebron never ever have. Lebron could have all of the stats but will never get the respect that we have for MJ and Kobe the faces of the NBA that made fans all over the world to like American basketball.

On the Paxson play they hedged a second defender to Jordan in the backcourt. After that KJ faced guarded Jordan the rest of play.
I believe in 2013 Parker had a hamstring or leg injury. Ginobili wet the bed.
2016 in the timeout Lebron pointed out and told them to go to Kyrie.

Ginobli had so many weird plays I honestly thought he sold out. Might so a video on it.
I read an interview (and showed it on the screen) about Ty Lu calling the play for Kyrie, but am unaware of LeBron's role in it. Please add a link so I can reference it.

My friend! You have outdone yourself with this one! I can't wait for the others you have coming! This video is a great example of the contrast between the two and sheds light on what most LBJ fans don't understand when we say "eye test". This is what we mean by eye test when you see all of these things in the game and in real time and you understand what players are contributing what and how the outcome of the game came to be. Jordan consistently passed the "eye test", Kobe Bryant almost every night passed it. When you pair the eye test with rings, records, stats, personal accomplishments on the basketball floor, the sum determines the GOAT.
I have used your videos as a reference when debating my very young nephew who thought LeBron was the GOAT. Your videos have helped to enlighten him with facts and reality. Thank you!

Couldn't agree more with you. The only argument for LeBron is box score stats.
People only focus on pts, assists and rebounds. But ignore everything else like turnovers.
And bad defense don't show up on the stat sheet. He absolutely did not deserve those all nba 1st team defense.
But because his defensive win shares was high (Thanks to his teammates) he got votes.
He's a manufactured star and when watching the games it's easy to see.
