Couple this with the redesigned Time Eater... (You'll notice he's bigger and lot more bulkier than he's ever seen in base Generations He's different cog placements as well and the shape of his head seems more defined. Not to mention unlike original Sonic Generations Time Eater's body looks less like a black mist, having a more purple physical body.) I think he may be revisiting these. There's likely going to be a final story all things considered. Also why would Eggman of all people want to bring back Black Doom? (Eggman was an enemy of the Black Arms.) Clearly indicates that the Time Eater here is acting of its own volition. That it has a mind, it has a goal, it's history with Shadow for whatever unknown reason and it's seeking revenge.
Interesting! I hope they do a “Last” version of the Generations ending like they used to do in earlier games but that would also change the base game, which I’m not sure they’ll do. Looking forward to finding out though!
@@AceCardGaming I mean as far as base game is concerned it's only 20 minutes worth of cinematic, but I imagine the new form of Time Eater appears in the last story upon beating both Sonic and Shadow Generations, so after the Eggman controlled Time Eater is defeated in the last story the true Time Eater form finally reveals itself. Description did mention something about: 'reworked cinematics.'
I rarely if ever cry over sad video game cutscenes. But I swear, if the final cutscene is Shadow finally meeting with Maria and Gerald, getting closure from them as they tell Shadow how proud they are of him, and they fade away due to the timeline being restored, leaving behind a devastated but at peace Shadow... well, I'll probably get rid of the bowl of chopped onions next to me.
This year of shadow has really made me happy, im so glad shadow is getting the love he deserves. And it’s clear that those dumb mandates about him are going away.
Also, one of Ian's most famous stories is Shadow meeting Maria again in a white void space at the end of the world. This could be a straight up adaptation which is crazy.

Heck, even when Sonic 06 was first released, there were whiners who hated the 4Kids cast so much that they were putting up actual physical posters in their home town that said "Do NOT buy this game, or any other Sonic game until Sega brings back the original voice cast, or the awful 4Kids cast has been replaced!" Yeah, people can get pretty rabid when it comes to this stuff. I'm always surprised that people don't remember the hatred that the 4Kids cast got back in the day. Well keeping Maria alive would be a mistake story wise, though whether it’s for most of the game or at the end. A bitter sweet one-time reunion will be amazing. With how crazy this time travel game is, such as Crisis City, I would love to see Sage thrown in since now she’s a main character.

I know I’m about to feed into the outdated Mario/Sonic rivalry here, but I feel like the “Year of Shadow” is even more satisfying when you compare it to Nintendo’s “Year of Luigi”. Shadow’s getting a full-on character revival in the public consciousness, and TONS of media promoting him. Conversely, Luigi only really got a chance to shine in Mario & Luigi Dream Team, one of the more mixed games in the spin off series. The rest of the Year of Luigi was largely just derivative spins on pre-existing Mario games. TL;DR, I’m happy for Shadow and wish Green Mario got a little more justice.
I prefer the whole “ending of 06 erased everyone’s memories and erased the entire game too” thing to be retconned and undone. Elise blowing out the flame can still happen but we can add a scene where everyone goes back home like frontiers. I don’t see why can’t we have our cake and eat it too. I feel like the erasing of time thing was added for forced dramatic effect.
Blaze in Generations said she remembers Crisis City, meaning some characters could be getting vague memories of 06, Shadow remembering Mephiles would also be ideal.
Do u think Rouge or Sage will be in the Hub area? Rouge being in the main campaign adds issues. Sage being in would have interesting reactions with her grand uncle. Due to Cyberspace glitchyness and time/space distortion it could happen.
Sage definitely not, but Rouge probably. Nothing states the other characters couldn’t explore White Space. The concept was so underutilized that they can pretty much do anything with it without contradictions.

Time distortions can change which version of the character is there anyway. Take Silver & Shadow from base Generations they were attacking Sonic seemingly with the context of their original motivations then allied to present day personalities. This Game story seems to setting up Shadow's future as well as his history. You could very well be right about Sage I just think Odds are higher than you give it credit for. However I am certain Infinite will be back. The character's entire motivation is Shadow beat him up and called him worthless

Sonic and Shadow Generations story looks really interesting and I can’t wait to see old stuff about Shadows pass. After watching the story trailer was like confuse why there is Sunset Heights and Chaos Island when this game takes place during Sonic Generations.

I think this really has the potential to do so much right by Shadow as a character after all the shit he went through in the post 06 to 2010s writing. And this shows me there is a chance. Though I will also say I am almost more curious of Shaodw's interactions with Gerald. In the first ep of the short series we see him trying to save Gerald when he sees him in jail. So I wonder if we will get him trying to talk to and maybe stop the professor from becoming what he became only to see it's impossible. Heck I also am curious if he or Maria will mention Eggman in the story at all. Both have never had their real feelings on him shown and given Frontiers had Eggman show a envious side to Maria, I could see something of a role reversal in seeing how these two feel of their grandchild / cousin. Really that last few second makes me just wanna rip open the game and get all the cutscenes just to see what happens. I am so excited! Unlike frontiers were I had to be blown away after the fact watching the cutscenes, this time I am ready to see what is it when it's released!
Another fun video of Shadow Man being hyped for all things Shadow. Who would have thought you had such a perfect outfit for the occasion just lying around in your closet? I am glad to see you are getting to show it off so much this year, you have good taste in attire, sire. This year has truly been a near-overwhelming ride for this franchise and for this character. It has not all been successful, but they have been doing so much right. They now only really need to stick the landing with the movie and SonicXShadow Generations. They did it with Sonic Movie 2 and Sonic Frontiers for Sonic, so I am confident they will do it with Sonic Movie 3 and Shadow Generations for your black and red boy. Also, I must note how amusing it is that the things you predicted would happen are things I doubted would happen. If we live in a timeline where Mephiles gets to come back, literally anybody else can too. If we do not see Infinite, it will be shocking. Though he would be able to truly embody his spot as the "next Mephiles" that way (appeared in one divisive game, vanished without a trace, gained a cult following, not used again). Only time will tell, I suppose.

i can imagine this'll be the "final" time shadow would ever get to actually find some closure with the tragedy of maria i mean, him still having some form of PTSD despite expressing that he moved on in his own solo game - he clearly havent fully accepted it all just yet, if he has to let maria die just so the timeline doesnt screw itself forever, that'd be messed up but in a good way because its not only mature for the series and showing that you have to move on if someone close to you had passed, it also shows that shadow would have a complete revival of his character that we waited so long for it to happen
I’m very interested in this story. Especially the reunion between Maria and Shadow and knowing Shadow will have to say goodbye before fighting Black Doom. I am also very curious what Chaos Island has to do with this story.

In some moments he sounds good, but in other ones I feel like he lacks something, I can't really describe it. Maybe it's just that I prefer slightly softer voices for Shadow, since David Humphrey and Koji Yusa are my favourite voice actors. (I really like Jason Griffith's Shadow too, but these two are just the best for me) As for the story, I'm totally excited and I feel it's gonna be peak. It seems to be really emotional and I already know I will probably cry. It will hurt so much when Shadow and Maria finally meet, but he knows she's dead and he can't even try to save her because of the timeline
There already was a scene of Shadow waking up for the first time in his own game, with Gerald and Black Doom. But i guess that could have been a "test run" to see if Shadow was stable enough, and after doing some check ups they put him back to sleep again.
Regarding how SEGA has allowed Ian to depict Shadow in this project so far, I feel this may be Iizuka’s crew saying, “Hey, fans. We are deeply sorry for enforcing hard restrictions upon the writers with Shadow’s characterization in Sonic Boom, early IDW, and his two TailsTube appearances while we tried to fix things with Prime. You want a less edgy Shadow? Here…”
This is Sega we’re talking about sure they have a good start but finishing strong this the main thing you got to keep in focus can only hope they finally get it right and don’t screw up other characters in the future projects.
Dark Beginnings episode #2 revealed that the story is happening around the time of Sonic Generations because Rouge tells Shadow he's invited to Sonic's birthday party. By this logic, the events of Sonic X Shadow Generations should happen during Generations' times so he should not remember Forces events. But it's interesting if Time Eater can bring things from the future as well. Shadow shouldn't remember Kingdom Valley but since Mephiles will be in the game he might remind him of the Sonic 2006 events. That would also retroactively impact the whole Sonic lore making Shadow the only character who would know about the Sonic 2006 events and since Generations so before the following games. I see they can respect Shadow' spirit and do edgy things for him when they have to. Always preferred the edgy Sonic of the 2000s rather than the too lighthearted Sonic from the 2010s.
5:57 I wouldn't take it seriously. The developers care far more about game pacing (no super form this early into the game) and making things fun than they care about power-scaling. Thus, things like this won't always make "sense".
Theory: Chaos Island is in the game because that's where Black Doom first found the chaos emeralds, but they were contained by the ancients so he couldn't get his hands on them. So Black Doom tries to go back in the past to try to steal the emeralds, even if it breaks the course of history.
I personally don't see them forgetting as lazy writing per say as it has to do with true time travel and if it is done here it seems will be used to keep the continuity together. However, I do wonder if Mephiles is actually the real villain and will use Gerald and Maria being around to tempt Shadow due to his long standing theorized connections to the Time Eater and it would be the perfect chance to make Sonic and Shadow's rival fight be something more in the narrative. (Possibly even calling back to Sonic's role in Black Knight to give Shadow the push he needs to let go again)
Yeah, I'm still the same way towards Kirk's voice acting for Shadow, love the guy, but it doesn't hit for me, when trying to convey emotion, Shadow is more than just stoic. Definitely looking forward to what direction the voice acting will take it, when the game drops.
Sonic beat perfect Chaos and Egg dragoon in generations in BASE, shadow beating metal overlord and biolizard in base is not surprising it would be kinda sad if shadow got power crept and sonic upscaled while his super form is basically him being invincible
Shadow can absolutely beat Metal Overlord without going Super. Sonic beat Perfect Chaos without going Super. If the comparisons to Dragonball aren't enough these characters get much stronger over time. Shadow being no exception.
One thing I will say is that as much as I love Kirk as a VA I desperately want him recast for this role his voice just doesn't fit Shadow at all he was a really odd choice

Memphis attack that killed Sonic is (according to google) called the Dark Chaos Lance. Which sounds like a move Shadow could totally steal.
There already was a scene of Shadow waking up for the first time in his own game, with Gerald and Black Doom.
But i guess that could have been a "test run" to see if Shadow was stable enough, and after doing some check ups they put him back to sleep again.

Regarding how SEGA has allowed Ian to depict Shadow in this project so far, I feel this may be Iizuka’s crew saying, “Hey, fans. We are deeply sorry for enforcing hard restrictions upon the writers with Shadow’s characterization in Sonic Boom, early IDW, and his two TailsTube appearances while we tried to fix things with Prime. You want a less edgy Shadow? Here…”

Dark Beginnings episode #2 revealed that the story is happening around the time of Sonic Generations because Rouge tells Shadow he's invited to Sonic's birthday party. By this logic, the events of Sonic X Shadow Generations should happen during Generations' times so he should not remember Forces events. But it's interesting if Time Eater can bring things from the future as well. Shadow shouldn't remember Kingdom Valley but since Mephiles will be in the game he might remind him of the Sonic 2006 events. That would also retroactively impact the whole Sonic lore making Shadow the only character who would know about the Sonic 2006 events and since Generations so before the following games.
I see they can respect Shadow' spirit and do edgy things for him when they have to. Always preferred the edgy Sonic of the 2000s rather than the too lighthearted Sonic from the 2010s.
I think about the stages some of them they will just not talk about like in the original sonic generations you go,finish and unlock something.
I hope the Game doesn’t fall flat.

5:57 I wouldn't take it seriously. The developers care far more about game pacing (no super form this early into the game) and making things fun than they care about power-scaling. Thus, things like this won't always make "sense".
Theory: Chaos Island is in the game because that's where Black Doom first found the chaos emeralds, but they were contained by the ancients so he couldn't get his hands on them. So Black Doom tries to go back in the past to try to steal the emeralds, even if it breaks the course of history.

I personally don't see them forgetting as lazy writing per say as it has to do with true time travel and if it is done here it seems will be used to keep the continuity together. However, I do wonder if Mephiles is actually the real villain and will use Gerald and Maria being around to tempt Shadow due to his long standing theorized connections to the Time Eater and it would be the perfect chance to make Sonic and Shadow's rival fight be something more in the narrative. (Possibly even calling back to Sonic's role in Black Knight to give Shadow the push he needs to let go again)
If they're not going to justify base Sonic beating Perfect Chaos I doubt they'll bother explaining why base Shadow can take down Metal Overlord.

Yeah, I'm still the same way towards Kirk's voice acting for Shadow, love the guy, but it doesn't hit for me, when trying to convey emotion, Shadow is more than just stoic.
Definitely looking forward to what direction the voice acting will take it, when the game drops.
Sonic beat perfect Chaos and Egg dragoon in generations in BASE, shadow beating metal overlord and biolizard in base is not surprising it would be kinda sad if shadow got power crept and sonic upscaled while his super form is basically him being invincible
Shadow can absolutely beat Metal Overlord without going Super. Sonic beat Perfect Chaos without going Super. If the comparisons to Dragonball aren't enough these characters get much stronger over time. Shadow being no exception.
One thing I will say is that as much as I love Kirk as a VA I desperately want him recast for this role his voice just doesn't fit Shadow at all he was a really odd choice
