I don't know whether to thank or to blame Keith Olbermann's podcast for directing me here; but after the story he told about the late Will Spens, I had to see it for myself.
"They fell madly in love after... Luke graped her." The consummate professional, genius maybe yes but I can definitely see the behind the scenes prick side of him.
@@heatherroseisrflyer if you are or aren't a prickish although talented man, it probably occurs to you that people overlook ....grape (?) to see nothing but a fairytale romance. i watched luke and laura as a teenager and enjoyed it all the while. the prick side of me doesn't care about your spelling. i have unlit keyboard and bad eyesight myself!
I've been listening to Keith's podcasts since January. I find his stories compelling and fascinating, but I'm starting to see how many times he repeats the same stories about the same people.
The two-part wedding was the first thing I ever videotaped. I didn’t even own a VCR yet I had a friend do it for me but I had to supply what I think was a $15 blank tape somewhere in a box very deep in a closet I think I still have that tape. Thank you Keith Olbermann.
I remember Keith's time in Los Angeles vividly as a mainstay in local sports reporting but I had to look up Spens which for some reason I don't recall. Back at that time L.A. had some iconic news reporters.
That's why I'm here (June 26, 2024). It took a while to find this clip because I thought his last name was "Spence." ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Who else is here because of Olbermann this time?
That was genius. Rape? And Luke hit someone, not Laura? Wow, Spens, I see what Olbermann means! I remember the hype. Soap Operas were big thing then. Even I watched them... not General Hospital though.
In This Clip, From 0:06 To 2:50, It Was WABC-TV's Channel 7 Eyewitness News At 6's Entertainment News Report On The 2nd Day Of Luke And Laura's Wedding On "General Hospital" On Tuesday Evening, November 17, 1981.

Same reason I am here.
I am also here because of the Olbermann podcast, but I heard it 6/2023.

RIP Will Spens. Keith Olbermann did a nice tribute to him on his podcast today 10/24/23. Well done.
Thanks, Keith. I had a friend who ended up like that too. It is good to be reminded.
Thanks, Keith Olbermann. I found it.

That’s awesome Adam. I never got into that particular soap but I recall the whole country was totally rabid about it.
Thanks Keith. Had to see this for myself. You have to admit the guy had “it” . Luke and Laura! Ah I remember it well! 😂
Keith Olbermann told Will Spens story again today, Oct 25, 2023

Keith gave a moving tribute
Keith Olbermann has brought Will Spens into the spotlight again now is 2024.
That's why I'm here (June 26, 2024). It took a while to find this clip because I thought his last name was "Spence." ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Who else is here because of Olbermann this time?
Keith is always the reason people get here, no matter what the year.
I watched luke & laura get married that afternoon, I was 7 yrs old but I went to a neighbor's house to watch it & it was a big deal at the time

I was 16... I remember rushing home from HS in order to make it by 3:00.... NYC aahh the good old days 🙂
"Maybe next week" lol
All of daytime benefited!!
RIP Will Spens. You are remembered. Keith Olbermann sent me. 06/27/24
Where is the careening garbage truck 🛻?
I was three months old.. Lol!!

"The hysteria will subside, but my ability to act is going to be there always."
yeah, pretty cocky
…and his hair transplant.
"Maybe next week". 😂😂😂
1:53 LOL
Cue the garbage truck, the rabid dog, flying vampire wombats sent by the pope…
It seems so stupid that Luke and Laura were so big that they had to feature them on the news. It's a soap opera for crying out loud!
You had to be there. A different time, an entirely different world.
I humbly say this, Luke and Laura made ABC millions of dollars... that was the big deal.
@@lynnmoore7029 not now though.
It was pop culture. Soap operas were huge in1981 not like today. There was no streaming no Netflix etc.
@@paulcarucci7936 you're very handsome!
