Sorry about being so slow with my responses. I haven't done it yet. I know finding the parts is usually one of the hardest things to do on these kinds of projects. I can tell you that I got all my parts from Digikey.
Sorry about my slow response. Wifi was my main connection to the outside world. There are two ways I communicate with the Pi. 1. Using Volumio and the web interface. I can play my library that I have on a USB thumb drive. No bluetooth needed. 2. Apple airplay from my phone or Macbook which uses Wifi and no bluetooth. So to answer your question: if I were using Bluetooth, I might need an external antenna, but at this point I don't need one since I am 100% Wifi. Hope this helps.
Hello DIY2Channel, very nice DAC project. I was considering building an R2R DAC similar to your DAC but my question has been whether or not I can use the DAM 1021 even if my streamer already has a FIFO with clocks and a ReClocker since the 1021 already has it built in?
Sounds like you've got a much better streamer then my RPI. My two cents of advice is that it should work fine. Your streamer will be providing more accurate data to the DAC and the DAC will take that data and buffer and reclock it. Only problem I can think of is maybe a little delay. Have you decided what interface you were going to use to connect to the DAC? I watched a PS Audio RUclips clip where Paul McGower discusses the advantages of using I2S over other interfaces. its worth a watch if you are interested.
@@diy2channel194 I too have an RPI but the FiFo, reclocker, and powersupply are all IanCanada products, and it's a real nice clean sounding setup. As far as the interface goes, I think I'm just going to connect all of them just for connectivity purposes. The transport also has an HDMI output that's I2s, and that of course gives you the widest range, that is of course if you want to play DSD files. I don't know which is "best" but I'd like to have a choice of switchable inputs so that I can figure that out on my own. I don't have my DAM1021 yet because they have been on backorder but Mod House is telling me within a couple of weeks they should have some in stock.
@@diy2channel194 I do have it but life has been hitting me hard lately so I haven't had any time or motivation to put it all together. Hopefully within the next week or so I'll be able to start working on it.
Congratulations on a nice build. Good tips and useful schematic. Thank you for posting.
Thank you and thanks for the feedback
Nice work. Is there a place where you uploaded de schematics and parts list?

I suppose the streamer is housed inside a metal chassis. Don't you need to wire the Pi to an external antenna for Bluetooth connection?

@@efrankphd Just curious if you got your Soekris DAM1021 yet.
