    Very cool video! I’m moving to Kanab Utah in the spring/summer of 2021. Having a house built there. One of the reasons is to explore the beauty of the southwest. Would love to see those canyons, however I have a bad leg from a near fatal motorcycle accident ten years ago. I still would like to try though! I also plan on getting a couple atvs since there are hundreds of miles of trails in the Kanab area. I think that might be easier for me! Thanks for sharing your adventures! 👍🏻😉

    Great trip. Been there in 2019. And now when I watch your video I remember that it was a pain in the a** to crawl through these canyons with a backpack even with a small one. Next time I would hide it outside and pick up again after the canyons.
    But it's an absolutely amazing spot.
    Safe travels

    We (2 seniors)will be visiting with an experienced guide in late September. Q: Is the up/down at the entrance - easy with a rope? Q: Any rock scrambling inside the slots that might present an issue? Q: Where is Dry Fork in relation to Peek A Boo? Please comment. Many thanks.

      That sounds great. A guide will be helpful with the trickier spots in the canyons. A rope can help at the entrance to Peak-a-boo, there are a few eyelets already mounted for ropes. There are foot holes, although not ideal, that are carved in the entrance as well. It really is best to have a helping hand or chain of hands (or rope) to assist in climbing in.
      I am assuming that you have a pretty good level of fitness if you are attempting these canyons. There are numerous locations that you will need to reach, bend, and shimmy through. The only big issue would be in spooky canyon where there is a rockfall type plug. It is quite the drop down between boulders, but there has always been a rope there for assistance when we have been there. Your guide will be prepared for this, so just trust them. Again, it is very doable with helping hands.
      Dry Fork canyon is just to the west of Peak-a-boo. If you wander that way from Peak-a-boo, you can not miss it. It is the most gentle of the canyons where there is no rock scrambling or shimmying though tight spots.

    Sweet work, guys! Just returned from a trip to the same canyons. Love to see how others enjoy their unique experience at similar places. I was just way too big to fit through those slots. Fun, beautiful, but just too painful! :) Check us out if you care to see our vid.

      Great vid. :) however, we have never seen water like that in those slots. wow. The most water, we've seen is just the pool at the beginning of Peek-a-boo. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us.

    It doesn’t look like it would be easy to get to safety if there was a flash flood but I could be wrong.

    • @DJJulesAdventures
      @DJJulesAdventures  3 года назад

      It would be deadly to be here if there was a flash flood.
      When exploring slot canyons you need to be aware of the weather in the region. Even if it is not raining on the slot, rain miles away can flow to the slot.
      You must always know the weather for the full region before entering a slot.

      Spooky gulch was one that escape would be almost impossible- some of that gulch was so narrow one could almost get stuck trying to go through . I would definitely be checking if had rained anywhere before going thru those amazing canyons 👍😊

    💕 - it’s amazing that so many of these canyons are very narrow- I would not want to be caughtin a flash flood in one of these narrow canyons 😳😳

    Curious if the adults had any problems getting through spooky in the very narrow areas? I'm going in May and weigh about 230 at 6' tall. I've heard of people getting stuck...

    • @DJJulesAdventures
      @DJJulesAdventures  4 года назад

      You shouldn’t have trouble. The two tall guys in this video are both 6’2”, and weigh about the same as you. There are some spots you have to shimmy high, but you can get through just fine.
      It still may be muddy from spring run off in May. It really depends on how our weather goes.
      And we really should have narrowed down our packs...there is just not that much room in Spooky. So keep that in mind.

  • @junglemom1263
    @junglemom1263 5 лет назад

    It wasn't THAT bad, some of the time you even had passing room, and were able to exhale as you squeezed through! 😅
    Seriously though, THAT WAS pretty INTENSE, I GOT CLAUSTROPHOBIC just watching it! 😱
    Highlight of the video was seeing my brother and niece and nephews! 😍

    I am curious- these canyons were formed by water racing thru the area - do they ever have flash floods here now ?

    • @DJJulesAdventures
      @DJJulesAdventures  5 лет назад

      YES! Our nephew got caught up in one a few years back....luckily it was a place they could climb on a shelf until the water subsided.
