    Without the all 22 just watching the game I saw Dallas Goedert wide open on a blitz several times but he never tuned around. That's on the coaches.

    Jalen will be fine, I understand last year wasn't good, but its not as bad as people are making it out to be. The Eagles were somehow 10-1 at one point with the worst defense in the league and one of the worst offensive schemes in the league. Talent on offense alone is what carried this team to the playoffs, and Hurts was the main reason. Aside from last season, Hurts has gotten better every single year as a starter and was of course the MVP runner up in 2022.

    • @theyokester3541
      @theyokester3541 5 месяцев назад +3

      Also, while I do think at time Hurts goes out of the pocket a little early sometimes, I do think it all stems from the fact he gets blitzed a ton and is used to pressure in his face in less than 2 seconds. There were many times this season Hurts stuck in the pocket and made a great throw, but when you get blitzed on 60-70% of plays its tough

    • @paulbickerstaff929
      @paulbickerstaff929 5 месяцев назад

      @@theyokester3541 he gets blitzed that much because that is the weakness in his game. NFL stands for not long. If he doesn’t fix his fatal flaws he’ll be a mentor for some young franchise QB after the Eagles part ways with him.

      @@paulbickerstaff929 It turned into a weakness cause of the scheme. No easy drop off routes. They were running 4 verts against blitzs with at least 1 unblocked defender.

    I'm not worried. Jalen is the type of player who watches the film and points out the same criticisms to himself that @TheCoachPlays does, so he can find ways to improve. These criticisms aren't anything new for him; he still finds ways to win, as he has throughout his entire career.

    Oh, stop it. Jalen will be fine. The problem was his OC who got the job *JUST* because they were "boys". Seriously, that was all I needed to know to be worried. And of course, I was right. Shucks, he did better than I thought, being that he didnt really have an OC, really. What other QB could drag his team to the playoffs after being in the league for 3+ years with 5 different OCs?? 🙄 And don't even try to tell me overrated Mahomes or overrated Burrow 🙄🙄🙄

    • @TheCoachPlays
      @TheCoachPlays  5 месяцев назад

      So you definitely put more of the blame on the OC which is totally fair. I will say, I wouldn’t say drag teams to the post season. The eagles are a very talented team. It’s not like it’s Jalen Hirts and then nobody else. It’s definitely always a marriage between QB’s and OCs. So while the OC has to find ways to improve the offense, Jalen has to find ways to improve against the blitz himself as well.
      Thanks for the comment !

    • @neetrab
      @neetrab 5 месяцев назад +2

      @@TheCoachPlays did Hurts look as bad against the blitz in 2022? Only asking because that was literally his ONE time he's had the same OC the 2nd yr in a row B4 that was high school. Him having a revolving door of OCs, I would think would confuse him with way too much info and guys having to be on the same page. Also, I said "drag the team", mainly because in 2021, his 1st yr starting, he revived a team coming off of 4 wins total and there was no AJ Brown, and rookie Devonta Smith wasn't that dude yet. He had to deal with his SB winning Head Coach getting fired and the entire change in coaching staffs. Basically, I'm saying, let him have the luxury of the same coaching staff, like overrated Mahomes and other QBs, and he'll soar again just like 2022!

  • @DruGOATBOY
    @DruGOATBOY 5 месяцев назад +2

    Honestly most of the things that were pointed are the same things since becoming the starter. The coaching philosophy was to hit big plays against the blitz. They rarely install hots. previously they would throw tunnel screens against the blitz but that is after seeing the blitz several times in a row before making that adjustment. The coaching staff always depended on Jalen to make something happen which also comes with Jalen bailing at a hint of a rush breaking through. He has holes in his game for sure but they aren't detrimental. Last year things compounded because everyone had periodical struggles. There were times were the WRs were bailing on routes. Running half-hearted not sharp. Then there was the play calls themselves, sheesh. Outside of Brown, Smitty, and I will throw Goedert in there, Jalen had little trust in certain situations. Hopefully they will put in more work and they will be on the same page. Not a make or break season IMO.

    • @TheCoachPlays
      @TheCoachPlays  5 месяцев назад +1

      There always has to be built in answers to every play. That’s how you protect your QB, the ball and the scheme. My concern is there are times the hits are there but Hurts is either not going there or doesn’t process it

      @@TheCoachPlays BTW thanks for the vid. Really enjoys these kinds of videos. My comment isn't a criticism of you just frustration of being a fan. I hear you but "always has to be"!? I am not that smart so I depend on people like yourself for these breakdowns. One also being QB School, JT O'Sullivan. He been saying for years since Sirriani took over that Eagles are missing some sound football elements like hots and protection rules. They consistently were asking Jalen to make a play. Think Johnson tried to install some hots but Jalen and WRs weren't on the same page.

      Good, trust me, I won’t lose sleep. But you’re wrong if you feel like the pressure isn’t on Hurts going to this year. Just watch any ESPN or NFL Network and they are all talking about if Hurts doesn’t take a step up this next year then the talks of him not being a franchise guy is real.
